The waitress obviously knew that the food was awful, she laughed when we turned down her offer to take the food home. I will just say that the food had an odd texture and "gravy". I know what I ordered was not chicken, nor teriyaki. My dinning partner had a beef stir fry with unidentifiable noodles or what we still don't know. I'm surprised there are as many bad reviews. My boyfriend and I just left and we had a great experience. For $25 we left stuffed with a carry out box full for each of us. I got the general Taos chicken and he had a combination with almond chicken, beef chow mein and fried rice. Mine could have been a little more spicy, but over all it was good. I find it acceptable, nothing great, but nothing terrible. We get take out every couple of weeks for work, dine in one a month or so. I was there yesterday for lunch. The benefit to dining in is soup with your meal. I ordered the egg drop soup and was disappointed. The flavor was non existent and it was slightly cooler than room temperature. The vegetable egg foo young was .....eh. It was fine, I've certainly had much better and much worse. I will likely continue to order from New Moon, but more because of the location than the food. read more

I called Wok to you and let them know I was not happy they told me to call New Moon so I did and the lady on the phone was nice but she said it's a white thick sauce that's comes with all chicken dishes and to be honest I always had a dark brown gravy or sauce on my Chicken broccoli, I never have a thick geled white stuff on my Chicken before and it was cold I had my boyfriend taste it lol so I'm thinking it's made the day before and stuck in the refrigerator you know certain things get geled in the fridge over night so I don't think it's was fresh at all. This is based off of take out orders. I have been coming to Michigan for the past two years and per my fiancé this place has been around 20+ years! They've got to be doing something right to keep that up. His family even talks about eating here and how good it is. Several take out orders have been different types of fried rice and wonton soup & chicken/ beef dishes. . My step son loves his chicken rice, I have to say it is very good as well. It's not loaded with carrots and peas, at least ours wasn't. Just green onion and bok choy. I do not agree with these reviews. We live really close to New Moon and there is something to be said about good, basic, comfort Chinese Food. I have never eaten in the dining area, we get take out only, and have been very pleased with our selections. The owner is a bit rough around the edges, but can be very funny if you get her humor. She knows her regulars and always makes sure your order is complete and accurate. The portions are large and family combo meals are nicely priced. read more

Chinese food done right. Egg Rolls that are actually made with bean sprouts, Chicken that is juicy, sauces that are not overwhelming or underwhelming. Steak is actually steak and not cheap meat passed off as steak. This restaurant is a jewel to have here in Macomb. There are many Chinese Restaurants in the area, but this is a stand out. Carry out is exactly the same as the eat in portion and the flavor is phenomenal. It's very rare to find a Chinese food place close to home where they also offer gluten free options. Until recently we had to drive a distance to another place to find gluten free Chinese food, but recently we learned that New Moon offers gluten free options to their customers. They are very caring and concerned about their customers and their health issues and in doing so they go out of their way to offer gluten free options. Not only is the food delicious and affordable, but the staff is very nice and does their best to stay informed and keep any potential customers with an allergy safe. Every time we go, they double check with us to make sure that our order is safe for us to eat. I'm very impressed with their service, the quality of their food and the restaurant in general. When I was a child it was my favorite place to go to for Chinese food before I was diagnosed with a gluten allergy. Now in knowing that they have a bunch of tasty options for their customers with allergies, I'm eager to keep coming back and would highly recommend them to anyone looking for good Chinese food. read more

My boyfriend and I, my Dad, and two of our closest friends went to New Moon tonight. It was our first time and we really enjoyed it. I would have given it 5 stars but Duane is absolutely right, the fried rice has no flavor at all. I had the General Tso's Chicken and it was excellent. My boyfriend had the Woo DIp Harr and loved it. My Dad had Almond Chicken that he really enjoyed too. Our friend had a Thai dish but wasn't that impressed because it wasn't spicy enough but his girlfriend loved her General Tso's Chicken. Egg rolls and soup were also great. We will definitely go back. Another place that has excellent Chinese food but only offers carry-out is Wokery on John R in Madison Heights. They piled the food to the top, but there were Zero seasonings. The chicken fried rice was a very dark colored rice (not a natural coloring) with large slimy pieces of chicken. Some very good while others were horrible. We decided to give it a try based on the good reviews and I'm glad we did. Restaurant is old decor but very authentic for a Chinese restaurant. It didn't smell bad and wasn't dirty as some reviews had said. Chinese music plays softly in the background. Food was very fresh, good size portions. We had the lunch combination which is served Monday through Saturday until 4:00. Egg drop soup was thicker than I usually like but still tasty. Chicken very tender and not fatty. Egg roll was good. Prices very reasonable. Service. Very friendly and quick. We will go back and try the Dinners next time. I have been going to New Moon since I was a kid, I still from time to time pick up take out or drop in for dinner. The food is great, I don't believe they use MSG because I never have that super thirsty food coma feeling after a meal there. I highly recommend the: Egg Rolls, Wonton Soup, Almond Boneless Chicken, Sweet and Sour Pork, Pork Friend Rice, Pepper Steak, New Moon Special and there are various others as well including their Almond Cookies. It's a family owned restaurant, the owners are always there and wonderful. Will not let me post without stars. I had ordered from here and it was my first time ordering from here. I work nights and didnt bring food tonight. I ordered myself the orange chgicken as well as pot stickers and bbq pork. The pot stickers were good I am not gonna lie. The rest of the food was terrible. The orange chicken was flavorless. Actually it had the most mild orange flavor possible. It was heavilly breaded chicken swimming in a corn starch thickend syrup. I pulled out all of the meat and pooered out the syurp style soup. As for the chicken I mentioned it was heavily breaded and I took all of the breading off and threw that out as well. The bbq pork is slices of pork that are dry and chew also swimming in a soup of sauce. The rice was falvorless as well. After throwing out everything bad about this meal I poured the bbq pork over the chicken and rice and it was half way edible. As I write this review I have decided to throw the rest of the food out. I called the place back and complained which I never do and was told the manager would contact me tomorow. I could care less if they do I will not be going back. read more

My husband ordered moo shu chicken( first mistake) they didn't know what he was taking about and had to explain it to them and instead of saying no when they said ok we know what you want he got it anyway. In no way was it moo shu chicken, nasty is what it was! Then they give him a double order of one meal because they didn't understand him when he said to give him a combo and not a full order so instead they give him two of their "house" special chow mei fein, bland and tasteless is what it was! And instead of correcting them my husband who doesn't like to cause ruffles pays $55!!! for a meal that was barely consumed and instead of calling to complain because again he doesn't like confrontation and won't let me call either I decided to write this review to let off some steam. I used to dine here years ago and I remember it being delicious, so I tried it again while I was in the area. I had the almond chicken luncheon special that comes with soup, egg roll, rice, and tea. The egg drop soup was gelatinous and cold. It tasted ok once I added soy sauce, lots of salt, and even more pepper, but the gelatinous texture was off-putting. The egg roll was fresh and pretty tasty. The sauce and the chicken was lighter in color than I'd expect and there were no almonds visible, but the worst thing was that the sauce was gelatinous, just like the soup. It tasted ok but the texture was unpleasant. I like that the chicken was set atop a bed of bean sprouts rather than lettuce, it provided a fresh crunch, whereas lettuce often gets soggy quickly. I may try New Moon again, but I'd definitely get something different. read more

This is the most dirty and disgusting place in Macomb county!!! There is no way a health inspector has been in there!! I sat there waiting for my carry out with my jacket covering my nose cause it smelled that bad in there. I ordered cashew chicken and could not find but 3 small pieces of what looked edible.
