I was so excited to eat here. But then... I have a significant allergy to mushrooms, so chose an item on the menu that didn't mention mushrooms in the description. When it came, there were mushrooms in it. The server took it back and made another without mushrooms, but said they packaged the first order to go, and that they'd still charge me. I explained that the description in the menu makes no mention of mushrooms, to which she replied, "we're a Japanese restaurant, there are always mushrooms." So trusting the menu to list the ingredients is no longer enough. The food was good, but I won't eat there again. read more

These folks GET IT RIGHT. The staff is on top of things, very friendly and accommodating, and the mix of customers shows they are appealing to many, many persons. I've been to Sakura previously but this to-go order was so bad I won't go back. I ordered 2 deep fried rolls, tempura and soup. Only one of the rolls had been fried and the tempura was doughy as was the roll they had fried. I called and kindly explained, they said, "No problem, bring it back and we'll replace it". I drove back and chef took the food said it was fine then said he would not replace or refund it and he kept the food. This was a business lunch gone very bad and I will certainly not repeat this terribly rude and costly experience. If you're looking for good food and service, I recommend Misoya Bistro in downtown Medford. read more

We ordered a to go order, picked it up & got to my house. Three things were wrong with our order. We called and very nicely complained letting them know what was wrong they told us to come back and that they would replace our food. They did not replace our food and they would not refund us the money. Everything that had Tempura in or on it was like dough & super spongy and it just did not taste good at all. We didn't get the right food and yet they seriously would not refund our money nor give us any food to replace it. This is just not a great place & I don't recommend it at all. The service is very unsatisfactory. Up until today I came here only because the food was great, but definitely not for the service or atmosphere. Now they have lost my business for sure!! I have to say that Sakura has always been my favorite sushi spot. We have been going there for 3 years now. The staff has always been kind and inviting and the food has always been to die for! But I have to say, tonight I was so so disappointed. Our order consisted of 3 teriyaki chicken plates, Chirashi, avocado bomb, and a fiesta salmon roll. I was informed over the phone that they raised there prices and asked if it was ok. I agreed because I am used to the amazing quality and I'm fine with paying extra for good food. The teriyaki chicken was burned to hell and the portions are definitely smaller. The sauce was almost sour. My chirashi (which I have had before) was definitely not the high quality fish I have come to expect of Sakura and the avocado bomb had barely any avocado.... like how does that even happen? Hubby loved the salmon roll (at this point I didnt even try it). I am still giving them a 4 star because I am hoping this is a one off. We will try again but if the quality has gone down and prices have gone up, I don't see many of their regulars continuing to order from them. read more

This is hands down the best sushi in Medford, without question. We have eaten at the older Sakura and the new management has cleaned it up considerably. The food which was once not good at all, is now very tasty and the sushi is just fresh and delicious. My wife, who does not like sushi or sashimi, has even made comments on how she actually liked some of the rolls that I have had. She has had the beef noodles and although good, I thought they were a little too salty for my taste. The smell that was pungent in the previous sakura is all but gone. I did not give it four stars only due to the fact that only one Sushi place actually warranted a 5 star rating, but this is a strong 4.5. We look forward to eating from the full menu soon as we have only eaten off the happy hour menu. Which is from 1400 to 1600, buy one roll get one free. read more

Was craving Sashimi after a rather rough few days. Looked around town and saw that New Sakura Japanese was near by so decided to try it. Had gone to the place only once before, over 2 years ago when they were about to close, and could not remember how it was, for better or worse. Hopping in the car I swung by with my younger brother and was immediately impressed. The place was clean, the staff was friendly, and the menu was large but not overwhelming. Taking a seat we looked over the menu, and immediately starting choosing things to try. My brother ordered an Avocado Bomb, the Ramen, and a California Roll. While I myself ordered Sashimi and the Yakisoba noodles Beef stir fry. The Sashimi and noodles both came with rice, as well as a side of miso soup. Unfortunately I am not a fan of Miso Soup, and neither is my brother so we both passed on it. But everything else was amazing. Having never had an Avocado Bomb my brother fell in love. While I myself had the greatest Sashimi in my life. As for the noodles I can safely say they have made the top of my list for Medford. Splurging after a long week, the staff even mentioned how much we had ordered. And to our surprise they were right. But the food was so good that we finished it all. I even scraped my plate. It was that good. Even the desert. A strawberry Mochi, again something we had never had before, was amazing. My hats off to the Chef and Staff. 5 Stars no Question. This was our first time into this sushi restaurant and we will be returning. Beautiful saltwater aquarium as soon as you walk through the door. The facility is your basic sushi joint setup but it is kept clean. You really couldn't ask for much better service than what was provided. The food was good but we ordered somewhat basic items. This was the hands down the best dining experience I have ever had. We were seated quickly and the layout was very spacious and welcoming. The server was amazing and deserves praise for coming exactly when we needed her. She was friendly and awesome at her job. We ordered to appetizers and two different sushi rolls. The gyoza was cooked perfectly, tasted light and crispy. The sauce that came with it was also not overpowering. Then we enjoyed our stuffed seafood jalapeno peppers. They were so delicious, I have never had anything like them. We were very pleasantly surprised when the sushi came out because they give you double what any other sushi restaurant does for a great price and of course tasted better than any sushi I have ever had, I almost ate all of it! If you are choosing a place to get lunch, dinner or have your date night this place will leave you with a full stomach and a wonderful experience.
