He walked me through two surgical options: being admitted to the hospital or having the procedure done right in his well equipped office under local anesthesia. I chose the office procedure, and I'm so glad I did! During our consultation, I asked if I could film some of the surgery. Dr. Fishman immediately gave me the OK, making sure I was comfortable watching it. The procedure itself went incredibly well. I was so impressed that he has an X-ray machine right in the room to precisely locate where the incision and bone cutting need to happen. The entire operating room and all of the equipment were absolutely pristine and sterile. It has been about 6 weeks since the procedure, and my toes are completely straight again. I still have many weeks for the bones to completely heal, but the pain is entirely gone, and I have an incredible video to remember the experience by! Firstly, I have been to other fountain orthotics, that is how I can say this specific one is better…read morethan the other ones I've been to. I use a walker, and they prop open the door for me to get in. I have a brain injury, so my dates for appointments get mixed up in my head. The front desk let me know that I did come in on the wrong day, but went out of their way and asked the person would be able to see me. They made time just so that I would be able to receive, my much needed knee braces, that they remeasured, from the other fountain orthotics mistake. I was fitted and adjustments were made to have the braces fit me comfortably. I was pleased with the relief from the pain pressure was causing. Again, I started to the front desk to sign a few papers. Once that was completed, I walked straight out the door. As I turned back I noticed the door was once again opened so I didn't have to try juggling my walker and opening the door myself.
