This is probably the only good bagel I've ever had outside of the NY metro area. My college, a fantastic place, lacked real pizzas and bagels, and this New Yorker was well aware. Surprisingly after I denied the possibility that I would find a real bagel in Pennsylvania, my lovely girlfriend took me on a trip to her local bagel shop. When I saw them boiling the bagels in the process, I admitted there was a real possibility here. Golden brown and fluffy on the inside. Very good bagel, pleasantly surprised and I gave credit where it was surely due. I have to believe the owner is from NY/NJ/CT otherwise I don't know how this could be. I love this place! The bagels are made fresh and the consistency of the bagels are perfect. Who would have thought Berks county could pull off a bagel like New York! Their breakfast sandwiches are perfect and the staff are always friendly. Plus, they offer your doggie co-pilot a treat when you hit up the drive through! The reason for 4/5 stars is because the kids are high schoolers and can occasionally mess up your order... Always check before you leave! And the lines can be crazy long in the morning. One time they forgot to put my cream cheese in the to go bag. But I walked back in and it was quickly taken care of. No big deal. Just keep making those tasty bagels read more

Great variety in bagels! Way too much cream cheese on the bagel, I have to get my cholesterol checked after a visit here and also blood pressure taken due to their slow drive thru. Young staff can be pretty immature, but hey they need money too. Overall a good place to grab a bagel/breakfast sandwich. read more

LOVE NYB! They have the best bagel sandwiches for breakfast AND lunch around! The lines are usually very long if you go in the morning, but it's worth the wait if you're not on a time restriction. Always check your order though... sometimes the young kids working accidently switch yours with someone else's. read more

I went through the drive-thru twice to try out the famous New York Bagelry. Eh it was ok. My first bagel was a Cinnamon Toast Crunch and they asked me if I wanted it toasted and to have butter on it I said toasted yes and lightly buttered yes. I got my bagel and it was DRENCHED in butter so I'm not sure what happened there... anyways the second time I tried it, I got a plain bagel with butter but they didn't ask if I wanted it toasted...and me being in a rush since the drive-thru takes ages I forgot to ask. So idk, I mean the staff are friendly but I feel like they need to speed up the drive-thru window. Being inside isn't any quicker unfortunately. read more

New York Bagelry definitely has the best bagels i've ever had in Berks County. However, there isn't much of a selection. I enjoy going there when I can. They have a large variety and are made fresh throughout the day. I would definitely recommend it if you're dying for a bagel and you're in the Reading area. read more

I gotta say, I am happily surprised by this place, for years I had written it off because it seriously had the WORST SERVICE of any restaurant I had ever been to. Today however, I felt inclined to give it another chance, I don't know of they completely rehired the staff or became more aware of the horrible service but the place has really turned itself around. This is absolutely the best bagel place around. You tend to think that a bagel is a bagel- right?! Nope. NY Bagelry is like bagels from heaven. My favorite treat would be the cinnamon crunch bagel with regular cream cheese. I also love their breakfast sandwiches. I opt for the sausage or bacon egg and cheese- of course- on the french toast bagel, honey wheat or if I'm feeling real adventurous- on the cinnamon crunch bagel. My honey says the everything bagel is the best and we have been meaning to try the veggie cream cheese. This place is worth any distance. The young staff is working well together and the business is always busy- because they took something as simple as a bagel and made it extraordinary. read more

Their bagels are good, but this place is packed whenever I pass by in the morning. If I had 20 minutes to kill in a drive thru line I would stop. Whatever you get on your bagel, be prepared for like 3 times the normal amount. They load them up. read more

The best 4 dollar breakfast around. They have a great variety of different bagels. The only negative is that its just about always packed and the parking is a bit screwy when it gets full. People going through the drive through block others from exiting the parking lot. Its packed for a good reason however. The employees are kind, and the food is fresh and good. Im here at least 2 or 3 tines per week and I dont plan on that stopping anytime soon. read more

5 years of consistency The food is great but there's more to a review than the food. 1) 30-45 min wait every single time ( for a bagel ) 2) staff is all teenagers but leadership has to lead. When you let 10 teens run your business this is what you get! ( hiring teens so you only have to pay minimum wage is fine but they screw up orders every time, lids are always loose on drinks, coffee is bad, they do not stir the sugar, ham or Taylor pork roll is always backwards, everything is just sloppy) All in all the food is good when it come out properly but the wait times and consistency keep me far away. Today will be the last time I ever go. To wrap up the review I'd say their food is better than McDonald's but McDonald's is able to deliver a product in a professional manner. It's fast, clean and timely. I'll stick with the McDonald's breakfast, saving $5 and 40 minutes of my morning. read more

I can't love this place enough! The bagels are fantastic! Coming to PA from Jersey I wasn't expecting to find a half decent bagel, but this place is way more than that! I love the atmosphere- it feels like any old bagel shop! Also I love that the owner seems to hire a lot of high school age people. It's great to give young people their first job and the opportunity to get experience! I'll keep coming back here for as long as I live in the area! read more

I have missed good Bagels every since leaving New York. These Bagels are the closest thing you will get to it. Excellent !!! My favorite place to stop in the morning to get Breakfast or to bring a dozen (by their count is 14) home for the family. They have a wide selection of flavors . Asiago is my Favorite. While the taste of their bagels is great(most or them) the fact that my order is almost always wrong is a huge disappointment. If the girls spent a little more time paying attention instead of chit chatting maybe this wouldn't happen. Also the lack of hair nets/hats or visors is not OK. And counting tip money on a food service counter . Remember we can see in from the Drive threw window. Hopefully you address these issues. I have lived in the area for many years, and I never tried New York Bagelry. Personally, growing up, we would always go to Take 2 Bagels. My co-worker insisted that I have a breakfast sandwich from there. Nothing crazy - bacon, egg, cheese (extra) on an everything bagel. I tell you what - I have been there 3 times in the last 2 weeks. It's just as good and fresh each and every time. I will continue to go back! I have been to the one in West Lawn and the one in Kenhorst. Neither disappoints!! read more

Used to love this place but lately every time we get bagel sandwiches the cheese is cold, the bagel is not warm at all and they use the same knife used on onion and everything bagels to cut into other bagels. Can't imagine how much more cross contamination goes on behind the scenes. Really disappointing. I will say the bagels themselves are made really good. Please fix this problem NY Bagelry read more

The only positive thing i have to say is their food is good. The place is SO DISGUSTING! every inch of that place needs to be wiped down and disinfected 5 times over. One time there was no toilet paper in the women's stall so they had to take the only paper from the mens. Owners seem to not care and their employees are all immature high school kids that don't know a thing about customer service. Great local place for bagels. Everything is made there and is they always have really interesting spreads. The prices are great for just bagels but is a little high when you get a different type of breakfast sandwich with meat, but it is actually boarshead so I guess it's worth it. read more
