Summertime is about adventure, bonding and family fun. As the family parked the RV, I wasn't sure what to expect. I loved the serene location and hidden gems waiting to be discovered. If by chance you forgot something, there is a small country store on premises. There are 2 pools to be enjoyed. Activities included tie dyed tshirts, scavenger hunt through the camp grounds, painting, archery, playground and so much more. There is a picturesque lake to fish or camp out by. The nightlife presented a Dj who had us playing musical chairs. If that was enough, how low can you go? That's right, limbo time. Or let's dance the night away. There is a peaceful patio setting for the avid book readers or dinner party area. read more

I love this place I stayed here at least six times usually a week at a time and we've always been happy with the cleanliness, friendly staff and the well-maintained facility so do yourself a favor playing about a month ahead. Get a great spot and enjoy the facilities and the place. read more

This was a nice campground for us. We have stayed here twice. The spots on the west side are nestled amongst the trees, so in the Fall, be ready for lots of leaves on your roof. We enjoyed walking our dog around the park. There was some grass by the laundry and restrooms for him to go and a dumpster nearby for cleanup. We didn't use the amenities since there to visit family nearby, but the park has newer looking areas and a nice pool for season. There is a shuttle/bus that will take you into NYC, but just remember it is about an hour to get to the city. It's a day trip for sure. Sites were level and no issues with hook-ups. We will be back again. read more

Do not buy the weather protection. it says if it rains 5 or more hours you get a refund if you pay the fee for it. it rained from 2 pm n all night ..I was not in a camper or cabin with kitchen n full amenities . couldn't start a fire for lunch or dinner had to leave to eat out . I understand they cant control weather but who are they to say I don't deserve the protection money back that I paid extra for.. It rained starting at 2pm and all night. their personal weather "people say the rain started at 7 pm. I want my money back for that one day it rained like they promised in the online reservation. I have video of my kids being bored at 2:30 from rain. if I paid for it I deserve the weather protection I'll write a review on the actual "non wet" experience after I fight for my paid for and well deserved reimbursement. read more

This place is 20 years past it's prime and glory days. They seem to have a maintenance issues throughout the campsite. It's run down and has employees with attitude problems that don't care. Unfortunately, I would have to say avoid this place at all cost. read more

It is a lovely park and nice amenities. Lots of families, and we are nestled in the woods, with a spacious site for our teardrop camper; birds singing and bbq in the air. But I must note that we are surrounded on 2 sides by poison ivy, lots of it. The picnic bench in the next door site is plopped in the middle of it. I hope the maintenance crew can get this under control at some level so the kiddos don't get into it. read more

First time in a Koa camp. And not impressed.. Tent sites are all on top of each other, no space in between sites at all. You kind loose the "wild camping" sensation because of that. First time at a KOA and was very impressed. Office/check in staff were super friendly. Camp store was huge and seemed to have every possible thing you could need. Wood bundles looked to be $8.00 which seemed reasonable. I Got a tent site for 2 nights but was only able to stay for one because of some equipment failures (this was a trip to check my gear for the upcoming season). The site was a good size, with a picnic table and a fire ring. Plenty of kindling around to help get the fire going. I paid an extra few bucks for a hookup site with electric and water which was nice to have. Campground was loud at times, but everything settled down by the time quiet hours kicked in. Campers seemed to respect the rules and I had some kids politely ask me if they could cut through my site which I was happy to oblige. Im guessing this place is packed all season because of the proximity to NYC. Hope to have a chance to get back here at some point when it gets a little warmer out. read more

This was my first time staying at a KOA. The only reason why this campsite was chosen was because it seemed like the only campsite found around the area between where we wanted to see the Kaaterskill Fall and the Buddha Temple. Let's start with the good. I liked the amount of space you got in the campsite. It was pretty big. We were in space #23, pitching a tent. Although it was too far away from the bathrooms. FYI, there's only two bathrooms in that entire place. I also liked the fact that the site isn't dirt or sand (whatever you want to call it) it's actually tiny rocks. The showers are not INSIDE the bathroom. The main bathroom only has THREE stalls. It was decently clean. The showers were just seperate doors you could lock - it reminded me of "outside the building" some shady gas stations have. Anyway, I've never been to a campground where the showers and bathrooms aren't in one. They do NOT come around to pick up your garbage. There also isnt a guard to get through to get into the campground, NONE. Are you kidding me? There seems like there is a lot of activities for the kids to do in the summer though. I did like the picnic tables, it was nicer than most I've seen. They paint it and it looks smooth enough that you wont get splinters. It's VERY pricey.. but that's what you get for a big business. Also, I'm not sure why they call themselves NYC NORTH - NO WHERE NEAR NYC! It wasn't so bad coming from a commercial campground, but it also wasn't the best I've been to either. read more

I really did love the overall layout of this campground but I had to leave them a three star rating for the following reasons; BATHROOMS: they only had four shower stalls for the entire campground and one bathroom with three individual flushing toilets. CAMPSITES: most sites were on rocks versus grass and mostly directly under shade. BUGS: too many! By the time I left I was completely covered in bug bites. I know complaining about bugs while camping may seem that I'm just being a brat but I've been camping at Taconic, KOA Deer Park, Wildwood, etc and it's never been this bad. With that said, they offer free pancakes, two nice pools, dog park, wine store, children's park and live music, more importantly staff and fellow campers were very nice. Unfortunately, I can't get over the bugs and won't be returning. read more

Staying at this KOA this week (SPRING BREAK/EASTER WEEK). Trees need to be desperately cut back , I understand trees are not in full bloom yet (thank god) but the sticks literally hanging will scrape the crap out of a Camper . Sites are not level , picnic table was missing a quarter of its wood on top , but the worst is the Camp Store closes at 5:00 PM and so does the Arcade . The Arcade is a money pit of broken machines . Two machines have already taken $3.50 in quarters only to not work . Brought to the office's attention and was told they do not maintain those ganesThere is no flier available for the weeks activities and when I asked I received three different answers . I called ahead of time before I booked to ask if there were going to be activities available for the kids and was told "we have a full week of activities planned" meanwhile we arrived and there was none last night (arrived at 2:00 pm) , a quick craft today and a ball game , no activities at all for tomorrow . I would have went somewhere else had I known this . My grandchildren were looking forward to some activities . Staff are all gone by 5:00 PM. Never heard of this before . The shower was disgusting! Looked like it hadn't been cleaned in awhile . Bathroom had a funky smell . Pricey stay as well . read more

Without a doubt the worst KOA I've ever stayed at. Site was very unlevel (traveling partner found same issue at his site), store closes at 6pm, pool says open until dusk but found closed 2.5 hours before dusk, popcorn machine at poolside was left dirty and inviting to various roaches and insects, no KOA escort to site, roadside signs (arrows) were hard to see and no signs seen at several major turn points, check-in seemed hurried with "I dont know" as the common answer to easy questions......., and on and on. read more

I'm not much of a East Coast family camper and this was our first experience with 3 kids under 10 but the overall spot is pretty convenient, staff super helpful and the amenities decent enough. I know it's not the campsites fault but I would not recommend tent camping in Aug with a 85lb dog in tow. One night it POURED rain and that kinda ruined the trip. It was also 95+ degrees both days and the bugs were insane. I'd rent a cabin next time and plan a bit better. read more

If I could give out 1 1/2 stars I would. And for one simple reason. While this is a very nice campground with plenty to do, the owners do a really really REALLY terrible job of enforcing quiet hours. It is non-existent. I wish I could say that it has only happened once but we have come here many many times and have been kept awake pretty much through the night. Right now it is 1am and I will be awake all night listening to the sounds of someone who has their (very loud) generator running. Even though generators are forbidden, at all times, not just quiet hours. This is really going to make me think about coming back. If you value getting _any_ sleep at all this is not the place for you. read more

We have been to other KOA locations. This place has clean restrooms, showers, and fun activities for kids like other KOA. However Comparing to other locations, I thought this place was more for the city people. Maybe it's because of the closest one to the city. Many people are here, all are not that friendly, talks very loudly and sometimes they put loud radio on...so even you are in the woods, you still feel like you are in the city. And yes, forget about after ten o'clock quiet time. People does not care. They continue make noise until 1:00. No manner at all. KOA does not do anything about it, either. You got to drive farther if you would like to relax and enjoy nature. Not here. read more

This place has been run down and not kept up with. There is two toilets and one urinal in the men's bathroom. The urinal is broken and looks like it's been broken for months. So you got two toilets or hundreds of men staying at this campground. It's no wonder why in the morning you see 5-6 people urinating beside their tents/cabins. Water supplied to your campsite is basically a long water hose connected to a spigot and the water is yellow and needs to be boiled. Avoid this place. It's a nightmare read more

The service here has been wonderful, and the campground is well kept. Lots of cool wildlife, and lightning bugs! Lots of things for kids to do, and the pools are awesome! I've been to other KOA locations and I they are usually well kept and family friendly. If you are looking to rough it or to have more of a wilderness experience, or you want distance from your neighbors you'll want to stay elewhere. Just stayed that this location for the first time as it was my daughter's first camping trip. I preferred to take her someplace with bathrooms, showers, kids activities/ play area, and some place "not too scarey" or too isolated. For this reason I did not mind that tbe camp sites are nearly on top of each other. So depending on the exeperince you want that can be a big con. For us it was a fine since my daighter made friends with a neighboring camper and the kids could go off and play. Pros: playground, outdoor pool, jump pillow, small rock wall, bathroom facility, laundry, showers, Free pancake breakfast! Plus a shop and small snack/ ice cream shop with fries, burgers, etc. Lots of critters; chipmunks, birds, catepillars, skunks. Ok the last we could do without. But if you are looking to feel part of nature, why not? My daughter was super excited at all the bugs and criters, especially the adorable chipmunks. Cons: small sites that are almost on top of your neighbor (again this doesnt need to be a negative but not for everyone), arcade and mini golf both outdated and can use some renovating. (One of the games ate my money and didnt work) Overall good place for families. read more

This camp site was adequate. I loved how close I was to everything I needed to be. I just needed a "base" . However for most of a day, there was no running water... This was more than inconvenient. While the office staff was really kind and trying to be helpful, the snack bar staff were the opposite. I believe this to be an atypical experience, but one that should be considered. For instance, no free pancakes, no bathrooms, no showers, no laundry, no bounce pillows, no coffee..... Etc etc...there was no compensation of any sort, just deal with it or check out. Half of my group had plans outside the camp, the other half had planned for a relaxing play day at the camp. Just be aware of potential problem. read more

This is not up to KOA Standards Pluses: The campground is very clean. There are a lot of activities for the children. Free pancake breakfast in the morning. Negatives: The campground was experiencing problems with their electrical system, where sections of the campground had no electricity. Someone in our group complained to the office about that at 8pm at night and was told that they could not fix it until the next morning. It was a very hot night; he had young children and wanted to run his camper's air conditioner, but could not because of this issue. This is unacceptable. While the spaces are private, they are tough to get into. I saw several people who had difficulty pulling their campers into spaces. The camper next to me had issues and I spoke to him and he said that he was a commercial truck driver and this was tough for him. The campground calls itself KOA NYC North. This is misleading. Its 75 miles north of Times Square, and without traffic, which is rare, (we even hit traffic coming home in the middle of a Sunday afternoon), it takes about an hour and 45 minutes each way. If you are planning on using this campground as a base for exploring NYC, you will be doing a lot of driving. There are two 60x120 foot swimming pools in the campground that are next to each other. There is no lifeguard on duty, however there needs to be some type of supervision. We saw a man throwing a toddler into the air and letting the toddler land in the water. This toddler could have easily have landed the wrong way and been hurt. Kids were randomly jumping into the pool, not even caring that there were people below them that they could have landed on. Other people were diving and doing back flips into 4 foot deep water. My feeling that is within the next 5 years, someone will get seriously hurt here. The campground has a serious problem with mosquitos. I do a lot of camping and it's been at least twenty years since I came back from a camping trip this bitten. We even had to go out to the store to get additional citronella candles. This took away a lot of the fun from the trip. I saw KOA employees driving around in golf carts all day, how they were not aware of this infestation, I don't know. This is a serious public health issue that the management of this campground needs to address. The campground has a problem with poison ivy around the edges of the spots. We were having a campfire at night and one of my friends warned me that I should watch where I sat in case I got too close to the poison ivy. Again, this is something that the campgrounds management needs to address. How difficult is it to go to Home Depot and get some weed killer? The campground is pricey. It was $65 per night, including a $5 "resort fee". With all these negatives, I cannot recommend this campground. We had a great time on our summer camping trip, however next year we will be going elsewhere. read more

Our site is a large gravel parking lot. It looks like the place where you store RV's or a dealer's lot with units for sale. The place needs lot's of maintenance. If I can move up the next reservation, we are out of here early. If not, Walmart parking lot. It's the same difference. read more

We had an extended stay this summer, it has been a great success. They have the BEST staff, very friendly! They have made our kids/family feel right at home with lots of fun activites and entertainment. They give seem more in touch with what the kids want to do and make it happen. It is a campground so it is rustic and with lots of people in and out it seems challanging to keep as tidy as I would prefer but nothing that would take away from our experiance. Great wine tasting, wagon rides and weekend themes. The pool dosnt have a bathroom right by it but its not too far of a walk and the cafe could be a cleaned a bit more- otherwise its perfect! read more

Ugh. Been staying at Koa locations across the US and this was sadly one of the worst experiences I've had. Stayed at a tent site. To be fair, let us start with the good. The facilities are fairly adequate, if slightly dated. There are what seem like terrific activities for kids like wagon rides and an arcade room. The water has an odd sulfurous odor to it, but this was ultimately okay. Bathrooms were quite far, but that is luck of the draw. The biggest problem is the noise, which will run into 2am regularly with loud music and talking, almost without regard to others. There is no enforcement of quiet hours. While I have been to locations where sites are stacked on top of each other, it was hard to get a wink of solid sleep. Let me set the scene: We are talking wild cheering, amplified radio, karaoke, cursing, and partying. Please, do yourself a favor and try a different location. Or bring lots of earplugs. It'll save you your sleep. read more

We arrived on Sunday and the trash bins were full, full, full. Trash was not picked up until Thursday. According to staff and management, the have trash pick up once a week this summer because business is down. Can I tell you that trash is not down. Very, very full. And when it was picked up, a lot was scattered. Bananas squished along the road way. YUCK! We stayed here last month and noted the trash situation, but we were not in the line of the trash odor. I reported this to management who offered no thought to correcting this problem, only reasons they wouldn't. Apparently the people that do come are not as deserving of a trash free eyesore and aroma. PEW! PEW! PEW! On the positive side, the staff was very helpful. Funny note: the two office workers kept their heads bowed low while I was speaking to management. They were clearly embarrassed as they should be. read more

Overpriced for what you get in return in my opinion. Just a couple of pull thru sites. Told them that I have a 42 ft 5th wheel trailer pulled by a long bed crew cab dually truck & they gave me a back in site that a Honda Civic would have difficulty backing into until we complained ! Pond filled with green algae that could be lessened if they would simply turn on the water aerator. Just a few cable channels to choose from (CNN, MSNBC, but no FNC hmmm?) & cable tv hookup wires were simply run on top of the ground instead of buried at our site. Had difficulty with our surge protector tripping so I disconnected thinking that it was defective. Worked fine at our next KOA in Pennsylvania leading me to believe that Newburgh's KOA'S low voltage output was the culprit, so be on guard for that ! NOT FAMILY OWNED but owned by a large corporation which may explain things. read more

Because of the "2 night minimum on weekends" we were unable to "enjoy" this park. If you are traveling thru the area and need a place to stay on Saturday night, you're out of luck. Even if you are KOA Rewards member and they have the space. Sad....not really a camping mentality at this KOA. read more

Nice campground, clean. Cabins way over priced!!! There is no lifeguard at the pool and things can get out of hand. Saw young girls throwing each other in the pool and they got hurt. Also my cousin saved a little boy who was drowning and his dad! The dad couldn't swim either. Walked into camping store with my nephew one evening we were the only ones in there, no greeting!! It was an older couple, the mans name was Byran .Bought something, no thank you was said either by the wife, who could learn how to smile! Not until I said your welcome, then I got a thank u. I cannot tolerate bad customer service. My sister reserved a spot months ago and she did not get it, although they did componsait her. read more

My family had a blast. We met and made friends with our fellow camping neighbors that had kids around the same age as my daughter. The grounds are definitely kid friendly and balanced with some adequate activities for parents. It was clean, well kept and the staff were very friendly. We will definitely go back. read more

After a 13 hour drive we were turned away because it was an hour before check-in, and after that the staff seemed to be rude to us throughout our stay. The showers were gross, dirty, smelly. There wasn't any supervision at the pool. Other KOAs deliver firewood to the campsite, this one did not. The KOA staff were out and about on their golf cart throughout the evening, but they didn't stop the camper with the firecrackers. There were campers who partied all night long, loud... only stopping for a thunderstorm and then partying again once it was over. I'm pretty sure I saw poison ivy along the roads. We ended up leaving a day early. The only positive was the tour to NYC. The tour was awesome. read more

Very nice place. We visited the weekend of 8/2-8/4. We stayed in a basic one room cabin that was set among trailers. The lot and the cabin both were clean and well maintained. See my photos for more details. The cabin offered electricity and cable TV. The mattress was too hard for my liking. I recommend bringing a foam mattress topper if you prefer a soft mattress. The lots in our area were spaced nicely and were wooded. The roads are narrow but I didn't see anyone get stuck or have too much difficulty maneuvering. There is a general store that has A LOT to offer. If you need anything else, such as a mattress topper, then you can drive 15 minutes down the road on RT300 and you will find Walmart, Home Depot or the Newburgh Mall. There are also a slew of restaurants in the area of the mall and Walmart. **Do not ask Siri for directions to Walmart - she will get you lost!** The campsite has 2 pools but offers no oversight therefore you will find that teenage kids are often in the area unsupervised. During one of our visits to the pool we encountered a teenage girl who could not contain her urge to say the 'F' word. The campsite was filled with little children so her behavior was quite disturbing. That only happened once but it was annoying. Free pancakes were served in the morning. You can also purchase egg sandwiches, hashbrowns, coffee, tea, cappuccino, etc. They offer hot dogs, chicken nuggets and French fries and other items. The bacon egg & cheese sandwich and coffee was surprisingly good and very inexpensive. The pancakes were delicious. The hashbrowns were bland. There is a wine shop on premise. They offered wine tastings. There are activities for the kids just about every hour of the day. Our favorite was the fire truck ride. Overall this was a very nice place and we really had an enjoyable time. I hope to return this summer for another visit. read more

Been going for 15 years and it is just slowly in decline. Good amount of activities for kids but not for adults. Wine tasting is a good idea. Arcade is outrageously overpriced and many classic games have been replaced. They added a rock climbing wall but took away old classics such as shuffleboard and tetherball. All for bringing in new things but that shouldn't mean getting rid of others.The pond is always full of scum and it's the first thing you see, desperately needs to be cleaned at least once a week I love and grew up at this place but management needs to step up their game and make this place fun again.
