Just happened to stop through this little joint on our way from the Twin Cities to Breezy Point. I saw the pictures online so I wasn't surprised that it was a small, hole-in-the-wall kinda spot. The food is FANTASTIC! (Try a lamb gyro.) The guys working were courteous, friendly, and professional. Servings were very generous. The food seemed more Middle Eastern African than Greek. The menu items were listed as "pita" not Gyro. The menu also seemed a bit confused with pitas, hamburgers, and chicken wings. I also had a Yelp check in deal for a free pop with purchase of $6.99 or more. The workers seemed to be thrown by it and were not sure how to handle it. I was also a bit grossed out that the cashier was wearing plastic gloves as he used the cash register. I only hope he changed gloves after taking my cash. read more

Best restaurant in Saint Cloud, meat selection is amazing, rice tastes fresh and tasty, vegetable selection is at a wide variety, sauce is at great variety. Great food when you're sauced off 15 beers or when you're completely sober. 10/10 would recommend as my last meal of my life. read more

It's so hard to find anything other than chain restaurants in St. Cloud so it's nice to have this as a choice. When I'm wanting something fast, I always stop by NY Gyro. My favorite go to is the combo platter. It comes with rice, your choice of veggies, and lamb and chicken. Don't forgot to top it with the sauces. I've just started calling them the white, red, and green sauce and they never correct me with the right names. :) portions are really good! The guys are really nice too. read more

The food is amazing. They are patient in explaining the food, if you are not familiar. I got the lamb gyro 3 days in a row. They didn't mind customizing it for me. Great local place. They have a big selection of food, from gyros, to authentic kabobs, and basic American fare like fries and chicken strips. I can't really speak to the American food (except their student fries, which are fantastic), there are plenty of places to go if I want that, but their gyros are amazing, and cheap, besides. Also, try their green sauce. They serve the gyros with tzatziki normally, but the green sauce is made from lime and cilantro and gives the perfect zing to the gyros. read more

Meat was so dry and they had it pre chopped, not sliced but chopped and refused to slice fresh meet off the spick. It was so salty and dry it almost tasted like jerky. I tried this place a few months after it opened and had the gyro with lamb. I was hesitant to try it, being it was my first time ever having lamb, but was delightfully impressed. The lamb and lime cilantro sauce were so flavorful. Every time I order I make sure to get an extra side of the cilantro sauce because I drench every thing in it, it's THAT good. I recommend the Biryani, I get it with chicken. The rice is cooked perfectly and the spices are plentiful. They don't skimp on the servings at all, so you don't have to worry about being hungry after eating here. My regular orders always lasts me at least two meals. Not only is their food good, but the service is also supurb. I remember my first visit being very indecisive and clueless but the employee was very helpful and patient, which made me feel like they wanted and appreciated my business. Bottom line, it's not a chain restaurant and they have great food with large servings for an outstanding price. read more

This place was SUPER DELICIOUS! I was so surprised that it would taste so good. I saw that there were two locations so they must be doing something right. I went in, there were not many people. Two works, one grilling and the other helping customers. I wanted a gyro but I asked the worker what he thinks good and with no hesitation, he says to get number 7. I got it and OMG. It's delicious. My family have been loyal customers for approximately three years as of July 2014. Beginning Nov. 2013 we have seen a decline in the cleanliness of the establishment as well as rodents behind the cash register near where food prepped. After this incident we did not return til Mid Jan. at that time we were disappointed to see food dust, and grease under the front food counter, as well as dead insect along the window sills near the high tops! Again, we did not return turn April. This visit was a late night visit for conversation and a snack, again we found food, grease, and dirt under the front food counters, dust and insects along the window sills, in addition to greasy, dirty walls, and ceiling tiles. Today after a two or three month absence my husband and I returned to see that nothing had changed concerning the physical condition of the restaurant. We do realize a second restaurant has opened in the twin cities and this may have had a negative impact on the St. Cloud, MN location, this is disappointing, and honestly left the restaurant less than appealing. Concerning the food at NY Gyros, the rice is excellent, the veggies are always fresh, and the employees are very accommodating. However, the french fries are coated with something artificial and even though the come out of the fryer the quality is low compared to the rest of the menu. The samosas flavor is excellent, however tonight the staff were distracted and were overcooked and one of two that came in my order was inedible. The American classics on the menu have a lot to be desired and the owners should consider making these American classics from scratch as they do their traditional cuisine . I'm usually not a person who eats gyros, but I was starving and luckily for them, they were near by. This location was small and awkwardly placed (had like three parking spaces and was on an extremely busy road near the SCSU campus). The employees were friendly, but paid more attention to their phones, than to what was going to be a delicious lamb gyro. I will say that there was a large amount of meat crammed into my gyro, but the meat wasn't all that flavorful and the texture of the meat wasn't really for me. I added some green pepper and onion, well because that's all I could fit after the meat, as well as, tzatziki sauce (because it's a staple). Overall, it wasn't that great and didn't make my taste buds explode in ecstasy. Will I be back? Maybe if I'm starving and I can't find a butterscotch in my purse; so if I'm being honest, probably not (because lets face it, I always have a butterscotch). read more

You will love their food. The falafel is out of this world. If you haven't ever tried it, now is your chance! The vegetables that they serve are deliciously crisp and beautiful. The portions are very generous. Their rice is nicely spiced with cardamom and the chickpea salad is very good. Don't be afraid. Walk right up and tell them what you want. Good food and great portions. They also have a nice $5.99 deal for lunch M-F currently. However, some of the workers can seem kinda cranky and this is not the greatest location. It can be rather difficult parking and a few of the times my 18 year old has went here to pick up a to go order and she has complained that she had been harassed by guys that seem to be loitering on the property frequently. If you are looking for quality food PLEASE go to Greek Cravings down town across the street from the red carpet. NY gyro, in my experience, is so dirty. All the topping compartments are intermixed and one time I went there late at night and there was some plate of indistinguishable meat near the register. The man in front of me asked the worker what it was to which the worker informed him it was fish... The man in front of me then asked at what time it was prepared and the worker said "this morning" . It was maybe 11 at night and who knows how long that plate was sitting there ... They were really trying to sell it too so that tells you what their food safety priorities are like... My experience with this location have always been great but this last time just ruin it. The lettuce looked like it was old, our order got mess up with the guy ahead of us and the cashier acted like nothing happen. We got our plate re-fixed but they just quickly threw everything into it.
