This had been my spot for a while. Don't get me wrong the pizza is really good. But the last two times I had to wait when I came to pick up my order. No big deal to be honest, but when I go sit down they don't even tell me it's ready. Last time luckily I was only sitting a couple minutes. But today I was there for 15 minutes when they said 3 more minutes when I walked in. I got up after 15 minutes and asked if my pizza was ready. It was, it was sitting there and they couldn't even come and tell me. There were 4 workers in there as well which pissed me off. One of or two of the owners there as well. Solid 5 stars for this pizza joint! How does it compare to actual pizza from New York? If not perfectly comparable, they're pretty darn close, I'd say. Every bite was delicious, savory, and everyone started hungry and ended satisfied. To make it even better, they serve delicious gyros!! What?!?! Such a pleasant surprise when we saw it on their menus and tagged it on right away (x2). We picked up our order to go on a rainy day, so parking was rather easy. Staff was friendly, service was great, and food was prepared and ready within time expectations. All good stuff and zero complaints. They are not a dine-in spot and I don't live in Roseville so I appreciate that they wrapped the wings in foil! Mathew saved me for sure!!! Love this place on customer service alone. Their pizzas were perfect for the price and I couldn't of asked for more quality for the price. I signed up to pick up pizza for my kids school and their party started at 9:30. I started to look for pizza spots near her school and then I started to freak out. Pizza places don't open that early and I live far enough away the pizzas would be cold. I called up New York pizza and they said if I order in advance they can get it to me early. Had their pizza for the first time. It was ok. Ordered wings, first place I have ordered wings and ranch wasn't included. That was a bummer. Yes, I could have paid extra for the ranch. Ordered 2 medium pizza and asked them to cook a little longer so they aren't soft in the middle. I guess they heard that we wanted a well done pizza. I entered a pizzeria and approached who I presumed to be the owner, expressing my interest in authentic New York pizza as a native New Yorker who adores it. He chuckled and explained that they do not have the same water as in New York but assured me that their pizza was very good. I agreed to give it a try but jokingly warned him that if I didn't return, it would be because the pizza didn't meet my New York standards. I ordered from NY Pizza for the second time last night. The first time I tried them I called in the order. Last night I ordered online. Both methods worked great. The orders were accurate and the food was hot when we picked it up. Their pizza is good, and moreover it's reasonably priced, especially when you're feeding a family. We ordered the 1 for you & 1 for the kids special. That's one large 4-topping and one large 1-topping for $28. I also added an antipasti salad for mom! Everything was really good. The only non-positive issue is that the delivery area is pretty limited; we live on the west end of Westpark and we are outside their delivery zone. We just have to go pick up our orders, I guess... My only suggestion is take a look at the menu board / order procedure at your restaurant, it may serve the youth and the future , but old school folks like myself lose interest in ordering. If it was fully New York style at one time they have cut some corners with the dough and the cheese over time. What I received there was a California-ized pizza; kinda like Mtn Mikes or Round Table (based on the flavor of the dough & cheese; 2 of the 3 items that determine a true NY (or Italian) pizza; the 3rd is the sauce). This restaurant sets a very high bar because of their name alone. Anyone who's lived in or at least visited NYC knows that they have the best pizza in the world (Sorry Chicagoans). So when you promote yourself as a "New York Pizza" there's a very high standard in place than many others have failed to live up to with similar claims. I'm sorry to say that the restaurant didn't live up to their claim of being "New York Pizza". So if you're from NYC and hoping for a taste of home, you won't get it here. Celestino's has been the best that we've found to closely mimic our adoration of a true NY pizza (they're terribly overpriced though). WAIT! Don't give up on this restaurant yet. While they may not resemble a true NY pizza, their quality is superb. You can easily identify the top-notch ingredients with your tastebuds, and quite possibly even more important to a pizza, their sauce is that great blend of tangy, spicy, and sweet. We also tried their garlic bread. For the true locals, it rivals that of Pizzeria Classico. It's cheesy, soft, juicy, and certainly full of garlic. The portion size is also well worth the price. In summary, I really want to mark them down for claiming that it's New York pizza. The reality is, instead, that no one quite lives up to that standard. While I was hoping to get that experience, I could not, but I still got an amazing experience all the same (albeit different from what I was hoping). read more
