I'd like to share a pleasant experience that I'd had recently with Kay Jewelers. I had processed two orders within the last 2 weeks - the first was for an order that I placed online for a 14k yellow gold bangle. I was disappointed with the item when I received it a few short days later. It was dainty, thin and it wasn't what I'd expected. I took it to a nearby Kay Jeweler (this one, at Newpark Mall). I met Maria who assisted me with the return. It was a very effortless process and she was so delightful! The return confirmation was emailed to me almost immediately and I was free from any financial obligation for that product. So, due to dismay, I was quick to check Kay Online (again) to search for a replacement piece. I set my eyes on a bangle quite similar to the last as it was also yellow gold. This time though - rather than 14k it was 10k and just a bit less in price than the last order. SOLD! Within less than a week the second order had arrived and was ready for pick up at the Newpark mall location (the same store I'd visited last time). As soon as I stepped in I was approached by Maria :) and was immediately greeted with a smile and an uplifting attitude. She presented me with the new bracelet and (this time) I was much more pleased. And check out was another effortless process. Just showed my ID for verification, a quick signature and off I was! I've been coming here for about 12 years since I have jewelry pieces gifted and also some pieces that I have bought. Each item has the extended lifetime warranty purchased. You have to come every 6 months to get your item inspected if you have the extended warranty to ensure that there are no issues with your piece such as missing stones, anything loose etc. After the inspection they also clean your fine piece of jewelry. If anything happens outside of your inspection time period, you can also get the item repaired. I've had items sent for repairs and the very first time I was nervous to leave my piece and trusting it was going to be sent away and returned. I was worried for no reason. They take great care of your jewelry and you get alerts of the process. Everyone is so nice each time that I have come in. They have a wide selection of products but you also have the option to shop online and have your purchase delivered to the store for pickup. The shop is downstairs, in front of Macys by the parking garage entrance. I really hope that with all of the changes going on with the mall, Kay continues to be a fixture. Today was a very sad day. Came in to return my dream ring. It just wasn't right timing. Anyway, as i was walking by 2 woman that worked there were chatting with each other, they both smiled and said hello. Sweet ladies! Maybe i should've walked up to them. So i'm walking to the register, i see 2 more woman, older ladies talking, i wait about 30 seconds until one of them just starts walking up to me but she's still talking to the other lady who's there. Talking about how she needs days off. But she needs those specific days. I don't even get a "hello, how may i help you." So i just say i'm there to return a ring. It literally took 27 minutes to get the return done! I understand it's Jewelry, it was just about $3000. So you have to be sure but she kept asking me where i bought it like over and over. I purchased a Movado watch a few months in ago August 2022. The watch stopped working about two months ago. Upon noticing the watch not working, I took off the watch and began to inspect the watch to see if it could be a pulled knob or anything else that could be causing it to stop working. There wasn't much to look for since the only mechanical part was the side crown. I did however see that there was a sticker on the back of the dial stating that the battery had to be replaced by 2022. I WAS SOLD A WATCH WITH AN EXPIRED BATTERY. Kay's Jewelers first solution was to give me a discount on a new battery. That wasn't happening because I am still making payments on a watch that shouldn't have been sold at all! I escalated the issue and Kay's phone representative, not the store where I purchased the watch from, agreed to change the battery for free. I agreed to that and went back to the store. When I arrived to the Kay's store the following day to drop off the watch, I was told the watch would be shipped out and returned in about a month. I need the watch before than for my parent's engagement party that I will be traveling out of town for. Also, IM STILL PAYING FOR THE WATCH THAT I PURCHASED A FEW MONTHS AGO WHICH SHOULD HAVE NEVER BEEN SOLD TO ME OR ANYONE IN THAT MATTER. I didn't accept and that's when the store manager came up with a horrible idea to exchange my watch for a watch that cost what I paid my original watch for. That didn't make sense since I purchased my watch on sale and had an additional discount for purchasing it on my Kay's Card. I didn't agree with trading my watch for a watch that would be less of a watch the the original. I have filed another claim about this matter but have yet to hear from Kay's Jewelers. What would be fair to the customer (me) would be replacing the battery in a timely manner or exchanging the watch for the same watch or a watch of equal value. read more

Came in with a watch that was a gift to have refitted and the staff wasn't helpful at all. The watch was purchased through Kay and from the minute I walked through into the store it seemed as if they didn't want to help me. I even asked if they refer me to another Kay Jeweler and they instead told me to go the the kiosk around the corner from them in the same mall. The whole point of going to Kay with a watch purchased from them was so I wouldn't have to pay to have the watch fitted. My sister who lives in Colorado ordered a necklace with an extra "S" charm. She ordered in online and had it shipped to this store for me to pick up. When I went to pick it up, they told me they couldn't give it to me because the order was not in my name. I explained that we are in different states and this was the only way to do it. I suggested they call her and confirm that I am supposed to pick it up and I would provide my ID. They kept saying "It's out of our hands, it's the policy." There was 2 ladies helping me. One was the manager. The other girl said "your sister should have had it sent to your house or put your name on it, not hers (with an unfriendly tone)." I said we don't have packages sent to our apartment because they get lost or don't show up and we wanted to make sure nothing happened to it AND she had to put her information because it's her credit card info. There wasn't anywhere on the order that she could put my name. So after going back and forth, she finally offers to call customer care and see if anything can be done. Sure enough, they told her to take my ID, call my sister and ask who is supposed to pick up the item. Once we got through all of that, we noticed that the wrong charm was sent. The manager said I would have to do a refund and then repurchase the item. That seemed stupid and inconvenient, but at this point I just want to get out of there. A week later, I went back to the store to pick up the replacement I ordered and they sent the wrong charm AGAIN!! So now the same manager tells me, I'm sending it back and they are just gonna have to send another one... Why didn't they do that the first time it was wrong? I purchased a ring for my fiance for our engagement. I'm very hurt to realize 6 months later there is an "inclusion" on my fiances ring that can be seen by the "naked eye". This is fine, if i was TOLD what an INCLUSION was, I had no education on different types of diamonds.. the only thing i knew was carrots. The lady who sold me the ring did not tell me grades and difference, but just advised to buy a ring that she would like. Why this is a problem, we are passed our exchange/return policy and which means I am left with no choice but to contact corporate with a complaint. Your retail personnel should advise their clients with different type of grades and what can happen if you purchase an i1 (the one that i bought, which i had NO IDEA) This could possibly be my fault if I had educated myself a little better, but that's your job as a jeweler to EDUCATE ME. Give me my options, I am very upset to see my fiance extremely sad of a diamond ring that has a black dot inside. I'm hurt, and will recommend NO ONE to this store or kay's period. I will be expecting a response, because i've had enough. My fiance went back to the store and asked them what the dot was.. when she was told an "inclusion" she had no idea what that was, until THEN they educated her. She asked the lady "why didn't you mention grades/inclusion possibility to my fiance?" Her face then turned red and said bring it back so we can clean it for you and HOPEFULLY get rid of it. Also, your upgrade policy is fair IF ONLY we knew that too. Yes it was something we shouldve asked, however it would be nice to know before the purchase. Really enjoyed working with this location Kay Jewelers. Not to sure about the negative reviews here but I had a great experience all 3 times I was here for the engagement ring, wedding bands, and cleaning/warranty services. Special shout out to my associate, Dante, and the new manager, Amir, noth were extremely helpful and knowledgeable and help guide me to something that me and my fiancee without breaking my wallet (and our upcoming wedding is already over-budget) I GET IT, it is corporate owned retail Jewelry store and there is a stereotype of up-selling, markup, getting ripped off, etc... but in all honesty the staff's goal here is trying to build long term relationships and at the end of the day that's what keeps them honest. I can't tell you how many times I was able to find the ring within my budget yet have been able to take advantages of the awesome benefits of a corporate own retailer such as no cost certification, life-time warranties, sizing, or other free services that I won't be able to find at other places. And trust me, I have used up those services so much that they paid for themselves. My advice to any previous or new customers, do your research, set expectations, and most of all don't go in there assuming they are out to get you. My fiance and I stopped in to shop for engagement rings a few weeks after he proposed. We were swarmed by sales people. Each of them asked if we needed help multiple times. I finally found a couple of rings that I wanted to try on, but was unimpressed once they were on my hand. When we tried to make our escape, one of the sales people followed us to the door and tried to sell us on their credit card. "If the problem is the price, we have credit!" Way to make me feel welcome... and by the way, the problem wasn't just the price (although it was a bit higher than I thought we should spend). This location is not my favorite. I got engaged on Christmas and the ring was too big so my friend and I stopped in here to get a spacer. The lady didn't even lood to see how big the ring was. She put the spacer on crooked and then vehemently argued with us about fixing her mistake. She did a shodding job of redoing it too. It was catching on everything and ripping out my hair in the shower. I decided to go to the one in Hayward to get it fixed and they were SUPER nice and replaced the messed up spacer for me easily. I came here with my boyfriend because I needed to get another promise ring because the one he first got me didn't fit. So we ended up going to Kays because we like the rings on Kays.com.... The sales staff was a bit unprofessional, when my boyfriend and I first walked in they didnt even greet us, Im unsure if its because we were dressed in our gym clothes or because we are in our 20s but they were rude. So I went up to one of the sales associates and asked her to show us a ring I found on Kays.com, she showed us it as well as the other promise rings. We ended up getting it. Then she told us about a lifetime diamond and color gemstone guarantee we can get for a flat $65 -- for every 6 months they would inspect the diamond and everything else which we got. When she ranged us up she kept trying to push their credit card, my boyfriend said no, I have the money we don't need one. She didn't get it and kept pushing it --- it was SO ANNOYING. Not to mention I work in retail and my boyfriend used to, we know how store credit cards work. Any who, she kept pushing it until we walked out the store, it was SUPER annoying. I am absolutely disgusted with KAY Jewelers! My boyfriend purchased a ring for me to years ago and not only do the diamonds repeatedly fall out, but Kay Jewelers continue to replace the diamonds with darker diamonds!!! THAT IS FRAUD!!! My bf purchased the Leo diamonds and the lifetime warranty!!! I've had that ring in & out of that shop 9 times for the same issue!!! The last time I picked up my ring the manager of the store told me that perhaps I should not wear my ring on a daily basis, but only wear it on special occasions!!!!!! Who the hell buys an expensive diamond ring to be told to only wear it on special occasions??? Three times I have asked for her manager's phone number or an email...she refuses to give it to me. I told her the next time this happens I'm going to hire a lawyer and I'm going to sue the company for fraud! They have a responsibility to replace the same value diamonds that were originally purchased!!! The last time I picked up my ring there was another discolored diamond, and within two days a different diamond fell out!!!!!!!!!! This issue still has yet to be resolved!!! Had a decently pleasant buying experience here a couple months ago, up until the checkout process where I was tricked to sign up for a credit card for an additional 10 percent off, when in fact the 10 percent off was from a current promotion offered to any customers spending over $300. The Kay rep (I think his name was Jose) was a great customer service rep, up until the sketchy checkout process. This is basically what went down: Rep: Sign up for a Kay credit card and save 10 percent? Me: No thanks, I'd rather not get hit with a hard inquiry and have my credit score drop from opening a new card. Rep: You won't get hit with any hard inquires and you can close the credit card after and it won't negatively effect your score. Me: Really? You're SURE it won't negatively effect my score? Rep: Absolutely. Me (dumb, and a bit hesitant): Ok. We're at the end of the checkout process and I notice the huge banner with the 10 percent off ad for spending over $300 dollars hanging at the other end of the store. Me: I noticed you have a promotion for 10 percent off for spending $300. So will I get this extra 10 percent off on top of the 10 percent I'm getting from opening this credit card? Rep: Oh yes, of course, I factored that in. Me: Sweet. He checks me out, and explains to me the details of my warranty and I walk off forgetting to check my receipt. I check it when I get home and notice that I only received 10 percent off for the promotion and not for opening the new credit card. It's now two months later and my credit score dropped from 820 to 798. I was (of course) hit with a hard inquiry and my average credit history age dropped for opening a new card. All not that big of a deal, but overall not satisfied with how I was treated as a paying customer here. I'd be VERY hesitant coming back to Kay again. read more

I went to the store with a friend to buy a ring for a "surprise" Anniversary gift. The lady at the store was pretty nice, until the manager walked up. He is the most arrogant person you could meet. Came here this morning for my 6 month cleaning and inspection for my engagement ring. When I walked in, this guy and girl that were working there looked at me like "wtf is she doing here? She looks too young to buy jewelry". I told them I'm here for my 6 month cleaning and inspection for my ring and the girl doesn't say anything and just puts her hand out and I gave her my ring. So while she was cleaning my ring, the guy looks at me and says "are you 18? We're doing a raffle for 18 year olds". Then he comments on the music playing in the store and says "when you get older, you will appreciate music like this". And in my head I'm just like wtf..what a douche!! Well I have been a loyal Kay customer for quite some time and normally do business at the Emeryville location with Elsa (who is awesome) It was a few days after Valentines day and also after our wedding, that we tried calling two locations of Kays. The one at Emeryville and Hayward to see if they had the diamond enhancer I wanted. After being told from the get go "we dont have it". I decided to call the one in Newpark to try my luck. The salesman Lewis answered the phone and informed me he was currently with a customer but would be more than happy to check the item number and get back with me. I gave him my number and didnt think he would bother calling back. About 7-10 minutes after, he called me back and apolozied for not being able to find it under that number. I had informed him, I found it on the website. He did his research and was determined to take the time to find what I was looking for. His placed me on a brief hold and describe it to a tee. I asked him if he could hold the item and hopefully I can make it there before 9pm. Not only was his mannorism on the phone was above and beyond, his in store presence was wonderful as well. I thank him and praise numerous times. He display excellent customer service and plan to continue to do business with him for all my jewerly needs read more

I went there to get my rose gold ring resized. I bought a ring on line and I didn't realize that not all jewelers resize rose gold. It does need to be sent out and will take two weeks. I am okay with that. I had one of my daily rings on me that is a size 5.5. I was talking to the lady and she convinced me to do a 5.75 size just in case it was too small. But the ring sizer did not have a 5.75 for me to try on. The next day I did have some hesitations on the 5.75 suggestion, so I called and there was a nice person that said he changed it before it went out. I will wait and see how this turns out. So far, aside from that terrible suggestion, I am okay with the customer service. Hopefully the guy on the phone took care of everything. So, the customer service can use some improvements. If you go in there, be aware that they are very aggressive with opening a credit account with them. The lady wanted me to open an account, which I thought was something necessary to get my ring resized. Then I saw the credit application. I said, I misunderstood, I didn't want a credit account. She was a little pushy about it and I firmly said no one too many times. Like I said, the customer service was okay. If my ring comes out of this perfect and without issues, then I think they would be worth coming back to for service. read more

I made a second purchase on layaway in hopes to use Kay's cash. When I returned to make my purchase, I was questioned on how we were able to get the jewelry for so cheap, they said something was not right. Then 3 ladies proceeded searching it up on the internet, questioning the price on the receipt?? How rude is that? Then I was told I could not use my Kay's cash because it was already a great deal.
