Took my car in and they told me lots of repairs that I could choose to do, but none of which were at all severe and all for far more expensive than they should've been, $150 for a $30 part that should take maybe 3 minutes to replace, among more, and it does not stop there. Choosing to do the repairs myself, and maybe having them do the overarching maintenance, I left the store. Upon accelerating, the engine quit and I stalled on the side of the road. I called back and they told me "What are we supposed to do?" After they walked to my car the owner said it's out of gas, which it was filled two days prior, impossible, he asked again what he should do and I told him he should tow it back and tell me what's actually wrong and so he yelled in my face that he wasn't paying and left me there. Incredible customer service, fast, reasonably priced, and always honest! Newberry Imports has such a stellar reputation. I am a regular. I go to them for virtually everything and recommend them to everyone. Recently, I made the mistake of taking my car elsewhere to get new tires because of a special that was being run on tires and a warranty I had on my tires with this other place (purchased a couple of years ago before I discovered Newberry Imports). Well, these other mechanics messed up my alignment!! I called to tell said mechanic that they messed up my alignment, they apologized and acknowledged their error and then, I swear I am not making this up, the mechanic/manager of the shop actually recommended that I go to Newberry Imports. As always, Newberry Imports got the alignment done, fixed my car with no issues, and the price as well as customer service was great. My alignment is perfect now. My car is an Acura from 2002 and is now at more than 240,000 miles, yet it runs like new thanks to the great mechanics at Newberry Imports. read more

Brought in my European car to resolve a standard head gasket replacement. From the initial assessment it was determined that a new valve cover was needed as well as the oil filter gasket replacement and a engine cleaning too. Total cost in repairs came too 2000+$! When I get the car back they "suggested" I get spark plugs and ignition coils replaced since misfiring was taking place. Now they are asking for another 800$+ in repairs!! I flat out told them no, what chances are from getting multiple spark plugs/ignition coils damaged in one shot when no other mechanic told me otherwise? When I brought the car home it was stuttering like crazy and to add insult to injury there were items on the floor from my glove compartment as well as the trunk being disorganized. Luckily I found another mechanic who specializes in these cars and told me that first of all the cost of the repairs was extremely high, second the parts where aftermarket, and third and best part of all, THE IGNITION COILS WERE NOT CONNECTED PROPERLY THUS CAUSING THE MISFIRE!!! The second mechanic didn't even charge me after seeing that invoice. This place is extremely dishonest and unprofessional, I will never ever bring my car again....... read more

This shop is an oddity in the car repair business: the owner will always be truthful with you. Again, the owner will always be truthful. He will tell the truth even if it means you only have a $25 car part not working. He is very, very honest. This is why I have been a customer here for so long. Their work is always top notch. I've been taking my car there for years, and several of my family members take their cars there as well. The folks at Newberry Road Imports are totally trustworthy, do a great job and have even told me when repairs were worth making (and when they weren't, because it was more of a cosmetic issue). They are open extended hours. Their Saturday hours are especially convenient. They've done a great job at getting it done quickly, and I've never had a problem with their service. I agree with any & all negative comments about Newberry Imports! They are a rip off! Stay away!!! Someone that I know recommended them, so I tried them despite ALL of the negative reviews online. Well... my experience was nothing but bad. SHORT VERSION: I took my car in to get an alignment and to fix the A/C blower. Not only did they NOT fix either, but they charged me that infamous $40 diagnostic fee for doing NOTHING! COMPLETE VERSION: I called on a Wednesday to see if I could bring my car to have an alignment and to fix the A/C blower. They told me to make an appointment for the following Monday, so that they could be sure to have the necessary parts. And they told me to be there at 8 am sharp to ensure that a mechanic could take a look at the car and so that I would be taken care of first. When I showed up at 8 am (and I am NOT a morning person) on that Monday, there was no one in the office. Eventually, a young man came in to help me. When I asked some questions, he told me that he didn't really work at the shop; he worked at the gas station next door and would sometimes pop in to help out. When I asked to speak with a mechanic, I was told that none were available! Plus, nothing was mentioned AT ALL on the phone or when I dropped off the car about a diagnostic fee. Since I read about others getting screwed by this scam, I made of point of asking; only then was the fee mentioned and confirmed. At this point, my car was there and I needed the work done, so I decided to give them the benefit of a doubt. Hours and hours went by without hearing from them!! Around 4 pm, I gave them a call to check on the status. Their response was uhhh... a mechanic is working on it right now (translated "they didn't do anything until I called)! What was the point of making an appointment or bringing it in so early?!?! I gave them an hour or two then called again. I asked if the problems were fixed. They said NO. In fact, they didn't do the alignment and didn't even check the A/C blower. The man explained that if they took the A/C blower apart, they might not have the correct part to fix it. (Then why did they tell me that they would prepare for this last week?) I was furious at this point AND needed the car for an evening appointment. My wife dropped me off to pick it up. Their excuse for not fixing it was LAME and despite my protest they did indeed charge me their $40 diagnostic fee!!!!! The next weekend, I took the car to the dealership an hour away in Ocala. While the alignment was the standard fee, there was absolutely NO diagnostic fee to check the blower. In fact, they pulled it out and showed me all of the leaves & pine needles that were clogging the fan. AND they only charged $48 to fix it (clean it out)!!! WHY DIDN'T NEWBERRY IMPORTS DO THIS? PLUS, THE HYUNDAI DEALERSHIP ONLY TOOK 1 1/2 HOURS TOTAL!!!!!! Great experience - Jenkins Hyundai in Ocala! And extremely POOR experience Newberry Imports. I SUGGEST THAT YOU STAY AWAY!!! read more

(I had to make a Yelp account just to voice my displeasure here) Used to be a great shop! This was my go-to place for any and all repairs on my cars for about 6 years... But recently, I took my car there to get it looked at (literally). I had a loose piece that rattled and just wanted them to take 15 seconds to give it a once-over... they told me it would be $40 to just look at it. As in, it was literally going to cost me $40 to have their eyeballs move 3 feet from my face down to my car. $40 to literally spend less than a minute to see if they could or could not fix a rattle from a piece on my door. If they couldn't fix it that day- I was out $40!! Are you kidding me?? I was absolutely insulted. I drove to Autozone, they came out and took a look, got me a new part for like $8 and replaced it for me free of charge. My dad always told me that if a mechanic starts charging to just look at something, leave immediately. That's the tell-tale sign that they're dishonest and are trying to force their way into your wallet. A good shop with honest workers will help you figure out the problem quickly, then offer advice and their services to help you out. I now firmly believe this, as the interaction I had with the guys at this shop left an awful taste in my mouth. Lost my business for life. read more

I have been using Yelp for awhile now, I have never felt the need to create an account until I took my car to Newberry Road Imports. I read their reviews and decided to try this shop. Huge mistake. Please do not trust this shop. I got my car back with damages that were not previously there. Mechanical (air bag clockspring broken, Entire computer system and sound system offline, multiple parts broken, and either not put back together or put back together incorrectly) The interior side panel bent and clips broken, entire dash reassembled incorrectly, and extensive damage ( all over the dash are cuts and breaks, and screwdriver marks to the instrument cluster housing) The owner told me this was "normal", and "just what happens". All three of the certified repair shops ( Dealership for Airbag, ABS, and ESP system; body shop for interior and dash; Private Mechanic for EVERYTHING else) All told me it is not "normaL". It has been two months and $3,000 to repair what was able to be repaired, One damaged part is $2, 500 and is not available. I am here to truly warn you. I am no longer angry, and i was indeed very angry. I have learned a very valuable life lesson, and In the end I actually found an amazing mechanic that is everything i was looking for. He is honest, affordable and really knows what he is doing. I would like anyone reading this to truly heed my warning, and please find a more reputable repair shop to go to. read more

Was back in 3 days after destroying the shield under my Nissan that had been fixed Saturday (previous review). It would cost $200 for a factory shield, $25 for the ten plastic fastners, & $$$ for an hour's worth of labor. Instead, Phat used metal bolts & created metal staps from plumber's material to attach the shield to my car. After performing the 60 minutes of work himself, instead of a big bill I heard, "Have a wonderful day" (after a lecture on how to park so as not to return in a year; rather, another 3 days:). This is not a professional who cheats people, which is also why 2 regulars dropped off their vehicles while I was there (& receptionist Amy immediately knew them by name). _____________ Updated "update": My 3 tire gauge lights came on indicating a problem. I drove to the garage assuming a flat, arriving early on a Saturday. My car was looked at immediately. Air was put in not only all 4 tires, but the spare another garage had left very low after a tow. Took the car in for an alignment and sadly it came out worse than before we brought it in. We brought it over to town and tire (archer road location) and they verified how off the alignment was. We won't be going back to newberry imports anytime soon. read more
