This has basically become a doggy fight club. My dogs were attacked by the old miserable dogs that come here on numerous occasions. There are a few sweet ones but many are uninterested in playing with other dogs so they attack the more playful dogs. Owners have zero accountability and tell you their dog isn't aggressive while it's literally got its teeth sunk into your dog. I LOVE this dog park. Have been here maybe two dozen times with my new covid puppies. It's so close to our house and the pups are making some wonderful friends. They are getting pretty well socialized. I haven't had any incidents with agro dogs or owners, however I know it's just a matter of time. While my pups are tiny, we often find ourselves in the big dog side if there's more action. I'm there just to get my guys tuckered out, and if there are only yappy little ankle biters on the small side, we're fine on the big side. For the most part, the pet parents have been very responsible and keeping with all the rules and etiquette of a dog run. There are definitely some new first time dog owners showing up, and they are all very happy to get their pups into the mix. read more

As of this date, this is one of, if not, the best dog run on Long Island What it has going for it: - Separate large and small dog runs - Dog drinking fountains in both runs - Poop bags in both runs - Plenty of seating - Great fencing, gates and entry areas - Obstacle course equipment - Canopy in each run with picnic tables underneath - Plenty of parking next to run - One of few dog runs that have turf as ground cover - Both dog runs are a decent size - Hoses in dog runs to clean area where your dog pooped after you pick it up What it has going against it: - Bathrooms in park but not near dog runs - Limited shade - Gets a little windy Best dog run in Nassau county. Add some additional canopies and maybe plant a tree or two on the outside of the runs and this would be even better. Great dog park clean and well-maintained, you just need the license from the town of Hempstead to enter, they have a big park for dogs over 25 pounds and then sectioned off is for smaller dogs, my dog is at about 26 pounds so I can go to either park but usually have a problem on the big dog side, mostly because the owners of these dogs are douche bags and look the other way when their mangy mutt's start attacking the smaller dogs, there's a difference between playing and fighting but apparently they're too ignorant to see this, you just have to keep an eye on your pooch, but the facility is great with water, poop bags, ramps, bowl's toys and a seating area, they even have an area with a little roof to protect you from inclement weather I would definitely check it out if you live on South Shore Long Island, Just beware of some of the douchy dog owners like i said Lol read more

Clean park, super sunny. 1. MUST be a TOH resident. Be sure that your dog has their valid dog license and is wearing it as there often is someone there checking. I like the fact that it is a strict TOH park 2. There is a seperate large and small dog section. 20 or less for small dogs. The large dog section seems to be made up of alot friendlier owners as well as dogs. I went recently with my two dogs and they are 40 lbs but puppies. The large dog owners were super nice but suggested because my dogs were smaller, I go try the smaller dog section since the weight restriction isn't really enforced. I didn't even get to enter the small dog section, I was in the interim gated area when one of my two dogs got ATTACKED by a small dog half his size. The small dog's owner was too busy chatting with a bunch of other owners. The small dog owners I have come to realize just sit on the benches and don't really pay attention to their dogs. The small dog section is full of alot of aggressive dogs and the owners are fairly neglectful. 3. Beware of aggressive dogs, nice facilities. Beware of owners. The setup is nice. Its new and clean. BUT, too many owners bring aggressive animals. If your dog is untrained or aggressive to other dogs you should keep them out of dog parks. There is an overweight aggressive chocolate lab there. Watch out for him. His owner looks the other way while he starts in with the other dogs. This park is a tragedy waiting to happen. You have been warned. read more

I have gone to the small dog run twice and met very nice responsible dog owners. The park was clean everyone picked up their dogs waste. I found most of the small to medium size dogs very well behaved. Being a new dog owner and new to dog parks i appreciated other dog owners letting me know what normal dog play is and is not. I pay close attention to my dog to make sure he playing well with others. I was a little nervous about the dogs drinking out of each others water bowls. I don' t mind sharing, I'm just not sure it is healthy for the dogs to do so. After visiting the dog park my dog is calmer around new dogs and less leash aggressive on walks. Better interaction with dogs at the park than in the street. I wonder why? read more

This park just opened the other day and it is very nice. All synthetic turf with a really nice water fountain for dogs and people. A hose to clean messes, a patio with chairs and a table, benches all over and a few obstacles for the dogs. Very clean so far and they had someone from the park there when i went to oversee everything. Today I went back to the dog park and was playing fetch with my German Shorthaired Pointers for about 2 hours. When I went to leave I noticed Scout was bleeding from his nail. The sand in the turf ground his nails down so much from running that they started to bleed. I am going to contact the TOH for them to change it immediately to something less harsh on their paws like rubber that is typically in turf fields. So for now i have to lower the rating :( Another thing about this park is that there were a lot of new dog owners that basically wouldn't let their dogs play with the others. As soon as the dogs started to play with each other they would step in and put the leash on the dog and stay in the park with the dog on a leash which makes it a lot harder for them to get along with other dogs (stop yelling at your dog for playing, thats what they do, they wrestle and pin each other down thats how they play. Most people at the park didn't understand that). And for some reason people would bring their dogs to the park but not bring them inside the park, there was about 5-6 dogs just roaming around the outside of the gate getting all of the dogs inside riled up. read more

Nice dog park but not much in the way of activities for the big dogs. Couple balls, couple ropes. I did see one person steal the rubber washer inside a hose nozzle, like really a .10 cent washer you have to steal? Then you jave the people who's dogs well go poops and they tbinl it's anyone elses job to clean it up but theirs. He drives a black pickup and his dog is black and white. I wonder if You can leave anything for dogs to use. Like ramps and stuff. Hopefully I run into other good people there. read more

I took my dog to this park for the first time and he loves it. He was able to play, exercise and get to meet a few new pups as well. Very happy with the time he spent here. Going forward I will try to bring my dog here twice a week. read more

I actually love this dog park - its beautiful - really well thought out. There is astro turf on all play areas, plenty of seating for humans, shady spots ( trees and canopies). water fountains for both dogs and humans, free poop bags ( everyone cleans up after their dog !) even a hose to wash away any messy stuff. Lots of parking and easy to get to. They have agility equipment, tennis balls galore and sometimes toys. There are two separate areas - A very large area for big dogs and a slight smaller one for small dogs. However, you must have a dog license to get in and a rabies certificate tag to show your dog has had all their shots The people I have met there are super nice and the dogs very friendly. My dog and I used this park for about 8 months after it opened. We really liked going there even though it is a little bit of a drive for us. It's a great way to meet people and for your dog to socialize with other dogs. But recently the couple of attendants who are always there started writing down everyones dog license number and when I arrived today he banned me from the park because my dog license is from the Town of North Hempstead. It has to be Town of Hempstead residents ONLY. What a bummer ! We are so sad ! My dog is going to miss his friends :'( I've been going here since the beginning and we love it there. I don't see why they make these kind of distinctions. We all live in Nassau County. We all pay our taxes to Donald Clavin. Whats is the big difference ????? Christopher Morley's dog park is a small fenced in area with moldy wood chips and broken lawn chairs. Eisenhower Park is just dirt and rocks. They are horrible !!! I am very disappointed about not being allowed to go to a County Park because I don't live in their 'Town". This just can't be right . This park should be for EVERYONE from Nassau County. I have a valid dog license. Rabies shot up to date and I live in Nassau County. My dog and I should be able to use this park SO UNFAIR !!!! Last Feb., our dog was there with snow on the ground. Our dog rarely runs, but when chased, she will. She was chased up the plastic ramp they have however under the snow was a sheet of ice since it had not been cleared off or checked. Our dogs' hind legs splayed and she screamed - my husband carried this 68 lb dog across the field and into the car, but was stopped by the TOH person to take down the info (which he NEVER reported to anyone). After the emergency surgery for ACL, MCL and Meniscus we were told that now there was an 80% chance of the other leg going. Surgery ruptured 4 months later and we needed surgery to remove the band and the other leg went - 7 months with the "lampshade" over her poor head and another operation for the other hind leg.....you can't even imagine. She was a young rescue from Texas that I'm sure thought she was better off in a field than that dog park. The bottom line is, we called the TOH and demanded they remove the ramp if they weren't prepared to take care of it while the part was open in the winter - that's all we were asking for. They never let us know if they were going to do that so we called continuously and finally they said they would section if off for winter 2018 so the dogs are protected from harm. I have no idea if they did or didn't, but can't imagine anyone caring one way or the other. Go there at your own risk. Do they really want or need plastic play toys? read more

I am not sure yet.I took my dog for the first time and everything went pretty good.My dog went to the small dog part.Today I went which is,Saturday and this time I found many owners thinking that one of the dogs humping other dogs cute and did stop their dog.I found people not watching their and saying let dogs be dogs.Many people bring balls to throw to their dogs which I find problematic.I just read that it's not a good idea for dogs to drink out of other dogs water bowls .So I will continue to see what happens the next time I bring my dog before I rate the dog park.It is,quite big and has astroturf which is quite a plus. read more

I've been going to this park since November, 2017. It is an extremely nice facility, with well maintained turf and dog poop bags and disposal cans provided. However, one must always be aware of negligent owners and aggressive dogs. I have left the facility many times because certain owners do not monitor their dogs and allow some fairly serious fights to occur. Also, several people do not clean up after their dogs defecate, leaving the mess to stain the turf, etc. Also, there are several people who ignore the "No Smoking" signs posted and smoke in the enclosure. Especially problematic is at least one individual who consistently smokes cigars and discards the butts in the yard. My dog has eaten these butts several times and has gotten very ill afterwards. Since the park is basically on the "honor system", always be aware of these rude, crude and discourteous owners so as to avoid incurring problems with your dog. read more
