The Newk's Q was pretty disappointing to be honest. First of all, it looked nothing like the picture on the website. I know most dishes don't look like website pictures, but that just didn't help things. The sandwich was okay, but didn't stand out in any category. The white BBQ sauce just tasted like ranch mixed with regular BBQ sauce. The sandwich was small and did not contain enough chicken. The presentation just wasn't there. Stayed over at the hotel in the parking lot and needed something quick to eat. Didn't have high expectations, it's a fast food sit down sandwich place. As I waited for my to go food I listened to a customer complain that's she watched a kitchen employee use the bathroom and then handle food without seeing them wash their hands then handle food. The manager said if you have a complaint you can call the Gm tomorrow vs acknowledging it and apologizing. When I ate my salad it was plain with lack of anything great. The first thing I noticed was a warm, genuine welcome from not one but 2 different people within minutes of walking through the door. When I ordered my food and made several changes, not only was the person who helped me happy to accommodate my request, but she also gave me suggestions on how to order in the future to avoid being overcharged. Now that is service! Despite my custom order, my steak salad was ready within minutes AND was delicious AND exactly as I'd ordered it. I found a place to sit while I was waiting, and rather than call my name and ask me to come to the counter and pick it up, the same accommodating and friendly person brought it to me and addressed me by name. Tonight was my first experience at Newk's Eatery. The menu options vary. You can select from pizzas, salads, sandwiches, and soups. They have a kids menu so bring the kiddos. The prices are good and pretty comparable to other establishments. I went with a pepperoni pizza, a slice of their strawberry cake and a drink. The slice of cake was big and consisted of so many layers. Such a treat. I really enjoyed the pizza. It's 10 inches in size and I love the thin crust. The restaurant was very clean and service was good. Order at the counter and they give you a number and bring your food to your table. If you don't want to dine in, order to go! I used to go to Newk's all the time in high school (10+ years ago) and loved it. Not sure if my taste has improved, or the place has gone downhill... But not a fan anymore. I came to this location today and the first thing I saw was someone sleeping in one of the booths (photo posted). Not sure if it was an employee or customer, but either way... It was odd... I ordered a steak sandwich and chicken pesto sandwich to go. When I got home, I opened the bag to find two steak sandwiches. OK, mistakes happen. But the steak sandwich wasn't that great. Super disappointed with this location. I've loved newks for 8 years give or take. Mostly went to the cypress location back in the day only because it was a lot closer to my house at the time. It's been about 2 years since I've had newks but I did notice they have a location right near our new house. Yesterday we were driving and I thought I'd try it out. I was so excited because like I said I had loved them in the past. I placed my order online which I usually don't do I like to sit inside but it was just a quick lunch since I hadn't eaten all day. I place my order and it originally declined my card , I noticed I had my cash app card in my Apple Pay so I quickly sent myself the funds and Tried again. This time it notified me that the funds were taken out my account. We head on over and my boyfriend goes inside to pick it up since I had put it under his name. He comes back to the car and as we go to pull out I thankfully checked the bag and see that it's not my order at all. He explained he went and and told the MANAGER he was picking up a phone order and gave his name, she barley even giving him the time of day tells him it is over there and points at the to go area where their is only one bag and he grabbed it. Online order for the name Stephanie. He goes back in the return it and grab the correct order. This time it's another woman at the front who then tells him they don't have an online order for that name. He comes out and I double check everything to make sure I was charged. i had the email , the receipt on my apple wallet and the funds were off the cash app card. This is when I go in because at this point it's been 20 -30 minutes for a 10 dollar pizza that's all the order was. I go up to the lady and show her the transaction and say I am here to pick up the order and give her the name. She asked what kind of order it is , I explain it's just w online order I'm just here to get my pizza that I've been waiting on for 20-30 mins on and even given the wrong food. She starts to ramble on saying stuff and goes to the back. At this point I'm just hungry and want my order I've been waiting on for way to long when it charged my card in seconds. The woman was a manager and she calls over the other lady .. I believe I regular team member.. they later come out and she gives me a paper showing me my card was declined and that's why they don't have my order. So I explained when I originally did it , the card declined and I moved funds over and it charged my card. I wouldn't be so upset if I hadn't been waiting for so long and looking at multiple different payment confirmations on my email and account. She explains I would need to call the bank. No problem , so I do The bank eventually calls me back and tells me that the payment was successfully approved and that it's just waiting on the merchant to pull the funds. So I asked the representative myself "so my card was approved and I paid for his pizza ?" They responded with yes I even had the manager listen and everything and she still refused to give me my pizza. At this point it's 2:26 I paid at 1:14 and was told it would be ready in 10 or so mins Over an hour later and I still hadn't gotten my food And the manager seemed as if she was going out of her way to refuse me service. Then 2 hours later I was sent a refund by newks How do you refund a order that the card declined girl??? Oh wait It didn't You had my order in the system the whole time. Still being extremely upset I decided I'm still going to be calling. I call today and the same woman answered and wouldn't let me speak to the owner or the manger and wouldn't tell me when they were available. Concept and menu is good, but execution is lackluster. Newk's is almost a carbon copy of Cafe Express, down to the glass jars of roasted garlic, croutons, pickles, etc... to the crunchy breadsticks. Menu is similar as such- soups, salads and sandwiches, but Newk's has pizzas. I had the ahi tuna salad which looked delicious and sounded delicious, but they completely over drenched the salad with dressing which ruined it. It was borderline inedible. My husband's Cesar salad was completely soaked in creamy Cesar dressing, to the point you could barely see the green on the lettuce! On the way out, I could see other empty tables with barely eaten salads that looked way over dressed too. We used to frequent this spot often everything was good. I typically order the pepperoni pizza it was the bomb with the vine ripe tomatoes but then one day they stopped putting them on and I asked the food worker what happened to the tomatoes. And she says 'oh they are on there(clearly they weren't)' . So we stopped coming for 8 months then I stopped by tonight thinking hey maybe that was an anomaly, maybe they ran out of tomatoes and they had to improvise let's give it another try. Again no tomatoes the menu clearly states 'ripe vine tomatoes' so ask and I get the same answer 'oh they are on there(clearly they weren't)'. One of my favorite lunch spots. There is a large variety of soups, sandwiches and meals. They have soup and half sandwich combos that are reasonably priced as well as pizza. There is an outside patio for those that would like to have fresh air. I'm usually here at least every other week. They have some huge salads also. Disappointing visit. Stopped in on a Thursday night just before 8pm and ordered a salmon Caesar salad and an ultimate salad. Told they were out of cucumbers. No biggie. We paid for the order and sat down. Five minutes later they come over to my table to tell me they are out of salmon. Ok please refund my meal. Now they need to refund the entire ticket because I am not going to just sit and watch someone else eat their meal. Not really sure how you run out of the basic menu items but apparently business is so good that they don't need mine. Also they had half of the restaurant shut down so we only had a few tables to choose to sit at. I guess when you run out of food start cleaning so you can get out early. There were multiple things on the menu I could've ordered and been very happy with. You get to keep the plastic cup that your drinks are served in. Cool! I had a simple chicken sandwich with chips this afternoon. The chicken was smelling old but I was too hungry and I ate it the whole Sandwich. I started feeling really bad and heavy in my stomach couple of hours later. Right around 7 PM When I was driving home I felt worse and has to pull over.
