Dr. Newman and his staff are amazing! I had to have a cataract removed from a traumatic retinal tear with surgery and bubble which causes an "air exposure cataract". I had a similar problem two years ago and my eyesight following that lens implant wasn't great. Dr. Newman took a lot more measurements and based on the density of my cataract recommended an intra-operative re-measurement to optimize my vision since after the cataract was removed the focal length measurement is a lot more accurate. It cost an extra $150 but ended up being so worth it! I didn't go for any of the expensive upgrades that are supposed to improve either your near or far vision but this test made a lot of sense and he was the first to explain this. He also operates out of Peoria where the rental of the laser machine is a lot less and passes the savings on to his patients. The surgery was great and minimal discomfort. I now have 20/20 vision in that eye! His office is conveniently located right off the 101 and Cave Creek Road. Dr. Newman is also just a great guy who actually takes time to listen and cares about his patients which is quite rare nowadays. read more

I've been going to Dr. Newman since 1993. I think so highly of him that I continue seeing him even though I now live in Prescott. My eyesight has gotten progressively worse due to cataracts over the last few years limiting my activities. Dr. Newman felt it was time for surgery in my left eye. The preparation and communication are so thorough that by the time I was scheduled for surgery I felt confident it would go well. Both the office staff and outpatient surgery staff were as caring and professional as could be. The surgery was over before I knew it. There was no pain or discomfort during the procedure or after. The follow up was great with the staff contacting me twice to see how I was doing, as well as follow up appointments. Even though it was unnecessary, Dr. Newman is available directly 24 hours a day in case of a problem. My vision is so improved I can now do everything I used to. I literally fell like a new man. Dr. Newman was recommended to me by a friend several years ago when I was having difficulty with my vision. Dr. Newman determined that I had cataracts in both eyes. He performed cataract surgery in both eyes (one year apart). Last month after four years since surgery, I had trouble seeing in my left eye. I made an appointment and went to Dr. Newman last week. He determined that the capsule that holds the lens had become cloudy and is something that happens sometimes after having cataract surgery. He asked me if I could wait a bit and he would be able to take care of it while I was at his office. He performed what is called a Yag Capsulotomy which he uses a laser beam to clear up the lens capsule. The whole procedure took less than five minutes and my vision came back perfectly. By the time I returned home, my vision was clear and as perfect as it has ever been. My husband had cataract surgeries and IOL implants on both eyes, a month apart. The experience was wonderful, due to the brilliance of Dr. Newman's expertise and thorough follow-up care. When the optometrist referred him to Newman Eye Center, I began extensive research into the surgery and local doctors performing it. Dr. Newman is considered top in the field, and for good reason. And when was the last time you were given a doctor's personal cell number in case there were problems after business hours? I would highly recommend Dr. Newman. My daughter developed an infection in her eye while away at a camp over the summer. When she arrived home on the weekend, we took her to Urgent Care to assess and were simply given antibiotics. The infection worsened significantly over the night and she developed severe pain. We were concerned for her eye and possibly losing her vision. We tried to contact any and all eye doctors on a Sunday and were left without any help. We were given Dr. Newman's number and he agreed to meet us at his office on a Sunday without hesitation. He was able to immediately assess the problem, diagnose and treat. He followed up throughout the entire treatment and my daughter healed without complications. I had my laser eye surgery with Dr. Newman about 4 months ago. I wanted to wait until I was fully healed to leave my review. Dr. Newman explained PRK vs. Lasik. I had never heard of PRK before and wasn't aware there were multiple options for corrective surgery. I decided to go with the safer option of PRK. We met at the surgery center and everything went very smoothly. PRK takes a little longer for your eyes to heal but everything turned out exactly as Dr. Newman said it would. I can see perfectly now. It is as everyone says - life changing. The pricing was super reasonable and I recommend them to everyone looking to have corrective eye surgery! All of my follow up appointments have been included, easy to schedule and thorough. Dr. Newman always asks if I have any concerns and makes sure to spend time answering my questions. If I could give zero stars, I would. Dr. Newman did a good job on my cataract surgery. However, wait times are HORRIBLE, the staff runs around like chickens with their heads cut off, and they bitch to one another while patients are listening. So unprofessional. His staff, mainly his sister Debbie, who does the scheduling, and the tall blonde (can't remember her name) his assistant, are two of the rudest people I've ever dealt with in a medical office. Dr. Newman, although he did a good job on my cataract surgery, seems like a space cadet the majority of the time and never had answers to any of my questions. I will NEVER go back to this place. His assistant is a total B**** ; she's lucky we were in a doctor's office because had we not been, I would have verbally castrated her for how she treated me. Anyways, I'm writing a review for Dr. Bruce Newman, Newman Eye Center @ 20819 N Cave Creek Rd Ste 102. I had Lasik surgery done with Dr. Newman in Feb 2011. I've wanted to do Lasik for a long time but have been hesitant. Then my new coworker told me about Dr Newman, and I decided to finally have it done. I am glad I did. Dr Newman is an experienced surgeon and he cares about his patients. My surgery was almost painless, lasted only 15 minutes, and I'm very happy with the result. I own an Anti-Aging business and see Dr. Newman for disport and fillers. My 83yr old mother even gets disport with him and she loves it. I've taken her to other doctors for botox and she hated it and never wanted to go back but loved Dr. Newman. I send many of my clients to see him and they were very happy with the treatment. Some of my clients have even seen him for the upper eyelid surgery and were pleased with the results. I will continue to send my clients to him in the future. Remember that disport, botox or fillers are made to make you look refreshed, get rid of wrinkles and make you feel better. I called asking for a miracle because I procrastinated and realized my brows were starting to frown again and I am going out of town and needed this corrected. They got me in the same day and I did not have to wait long. It was nearly painless and Dr Newman took the time to make sure the Dysport spread evenly. I am a HUGE fan of Dysport because Botox does not work as well for me. He was pleasant, the staff was kind and I was in and out within a half hour of my appointment time. I highly recommend Newman Eye Center. Dr. Newman is great; he is very detailed oriented. I had one cataract surgery 10/2019; the 2nd had to wait with all the lockdowns. Had the 2nd eye done 04/2021. Both eyes went smoothly. I can see! In fact, I'm no longer wearing my glasses (was using for near, far and in between). I can even read my email on my phone. Just a note....lots of eye drops for a few weeks after surgery (not too bad, I'm just not an eyedrop person); other than that, life as usual. I first had RK done in 1993 by Dr. Bruce Newman, before Laser surgery was even available in the US. Many years later I had an enhancement with Lasik surgery, and my wife also got the surgery. Dr. Newman's surgery was nothing short of miraculous. My optometrist said my eyes were so bad that glasses were not an option and that I could not pass the drivers license eye test even with glasses. When I went to see Dr. Newman to see if he could help enough to pass that test I never even thought I would be able to pass without glasses. Dr. Newman is such a friendly guy and his staff is always super friendly and personable. I've been a patient of Newman Eye Center for about 4 years and they have all become like family to me. I find that I get excellent service when I go to Newman Eye Center. I usually go every six months or so. Sue who prepares you for Dr. Newman is outstanding and deserves recognition for sure. Dr. Newman was recommended by my regular optometrist to correct my having cataracts in both eyes. I have always been very near-sighted, along with an astigmatism in the left eye.
