These guys ROCK! I needed wheels and trucks for a deck I came upon. Or so I thought. He sold me some used wheels that still had life in them. New bearings and trucks. However, they wouldn't let me out the door on the crappy deck I had, but I didn't have more money to spend. He dug around in the back for a minute and reappeared with a well loved board that was better than the junk I had and installed the wheels and trucks for me. It took less than thirty minutes. It cost less than thirty bucks and I was out the door with a bitchin ride! Highly recommended. Cool gear. Reasonable price. Competent service. What more could you ask for? Nothing at all. read more

It's been years since i went to Cal's, back when they were at their location off Broadway. I decided to bring in my board that was just recently dragged under my friends car for about half a mile looking to get a new deck and maybe some new wheels. After inspecting my board, Kyle took it upon himself to salvage what was left. After leaving Kyle with it for less than an hour, he was able to take it completely apart, put it back together and even re gripped it. It's back to tip top shape for some early Spring cruising in PDX and my upcoming trip to Mexico. I was able to browse around at the dope merchandise and picked up some sweet T's while i was there. I brought my eight year-old son in today to buy his first board. Kurt gave him so much attention and treated him with such patience and respect. This wasn't a "customer service" situation, but a true and genuine understanding of what it is to be a community member and a "gate keeper". My son couldn't stop talking about all the things he learned as his board was being assembled and at dinner he spontaneously said that he was "grateful that the man in the shop was so nice to me and made me such a great skateboard".
