If you're one of those folks who often does the long haul between Reno-Tahoe and Las Vegas and have been left desperately wanting for a quality coffee somewhere along the way...your prayers have been answered! And not just quality coffee, but an assortment of healthy cafe eats and baked treats. You won't find that anywhere else along the way, not in Hawthorne and not even in Tonopah, whose only coffee shop exists in a gas station. See my review of *that* place. But, Next Evolution is about much more than location and filling what is otherwise a dearth of sustenance along what could be America's 2nd loneliest highway... It's about quality service. I was invited in, warmly received, and even offered a treat for my dog who waited patient in the car. Take that, Starbucks puppuccino! It's about fresh. I'll let the menu speak for itself, but I ordered a chai latte (perfect) and an açai bowl that I was told included coconut shavings, which I dislike. No problem! My bowl was made to order in short time, and I was back on the road with healthy deliciousness. It's about local. Next Evolution isn't a lackluster chain like that spot in Tonopah. It's locally created and owned, and it features locally roasted beans for their coffee. Pride of ownership comes through in their hospitality and product quality. I don't dole out many 5-star reviews, but the above mentioned perks coupled with Next Evolution's location, and the feel-good that comes from contributing to a local economy instead of some anonymous corporate CEO...win win win. Stop in today to grab a bite and a sip, kick up your road-weary feet outside for a respite, and be rejuvenated.

Friendly people and great food and coffee! I recommend the Bobby Special and hazelnut latte.

With ample parking in a compacted gravel lot, it's located off the south bound side of Hwy 95. The sign at the roadside says "4.9 Star Restaurant" then "Bighorn Crossing" on the next line. The building is clearly marked, and the speed limit on this stretch is 35mph, so it's easily located. The entire place is clean, tidy, and exactly what you want for a food stop in a "frontier" county (ask Tony). "Yelpers" have never steered me wrong, and this gem overlooking the Walker Lake lives up to the hype! The food is top notch - fresh, flavorful and better than anything else offered between Reno and Vegas. Seriously. Korean style bowls and American burgers fill the menu, with some excellent beverage options, and optional "spiking," for those not driving. Bonus is the conversation with Tony: owner, professional chef, county commissioner and conservationist. He's happy to explain the challenges facing the area, especially pertaining to abused water supply from the corporate farms upriver, if you ask. Please inquire! Thanks Tony and Matthew, for an amazing meal, comfortable atmosphere and stimulating conversation. See you on the next trip!

There's easy parking out front, both indoor and outdoor seating, and a modern, clean interior with a great EDM soundtrack playing in the background. The service was very attentive. I tried the Korean BBQ tacos, which were flavorful and satisfying. My only criticism is that I would have preferred to be served on an actual plate rather than in a to-go box while dining in. If you're passing through the area, this place is worth seeking out for a good meal.

    * Perfect little caffeine pit stop! *…read more Caught this cute little spot early in the morning on our drive down to San Diego from Reno, and it completely made our day. If you love coffee that actually tastes like coffee (and not liquid sugar), this is your place. My Oat Milk Honey latte was delicious, and my husband's extra strong 4 shot sugar-free latte did exactly what it needed to do for the long drive ahead. The barista who assisted us was incredibly friendly and made us feel right at home the second we walked in. The inside is so cozy and peaceful that we decided to stretch our legs and enjoy our drinks at the table rather than rushing back to the car. Definitely recommend stopping by if you're passing through!

There are many individual bagged coffees to choose from. This shop is on the 395 in Walker. Lots of parking in front with plenty of seating inside to relax and enjoy your cup of joe. There is also outside seating as well. We ordered a cappuccino and ice coffee. The coffee is bold and smooth, no hidden flavors detected. The shop has some breakfast and lunch offerings as well as a few different baked goods. They also have a clean restroom for customers, as every good coffee shop should. Walker Coffee Company also has a gift store/fly fishing vibe with hats, shirts, cups, and fly fishing equipment. I also noticed a sign for fly fishing guide service. The shop was extremely clean and the staff very welcoming. This is a must stop when traveling through Walker! Their Summer hours are 7 days a week 7 am - 5pm.

This is definitely in the category of a hidden gem!…read more YTA (Yerington Theater for the Arts) manages this amazing old building that serves as the cultural center for the small farming community of Yerington. Inside this refurbished old grammar school is an amazing little cafe operated by YTA. I used to come to the cafe when I lived in Yerington and it was under different management. I am so happy to see that the Cafe has been revived under the capable management of Roy Enochson, the Executive Director of YTA. A friend and I decided to have lunch here recently. The Cafe is in the lobby area of the Theater and serves as a place to eat, an art gallery and a boutique for all sorts of arts and crafts most of which are locally made. The space is a bit like being in a favorite Auntie's parlor with little tables, comfy chairs and a visual cornucopia of treasures. My friend ordered the lunch special - butternut squash ravioli with a side salad. I ordered the Cafe Signature Salad - a lovely fresh blend of baby greens, apples, cheese, cranberries, candied walnuts all lightly dressed with a white balsamic vinaigrette. I also had a blood orange Italian Soda. The food was all tasty and fresh. Service was vey friendly, but the food was slow coming out. It was worth the wait. Our total bill for the two of us was under $20. While the portions were not huge, the meal was satisfying and the quality was excellent. This is a definite place to stop if you are in the area. It is a fabulous alternative to the fast food and casino coffee shops that are in the area.

Which is a nice change of pace from other, full-fledge restaurants.
