Wow, lots of bad reviews here. So, I can personally share that I did not have a horrible experience. I will say they seemed pretty understaffed, so the wait times were longer than ideal when trying to drop off and catch a flight. Took a while to get the car as well since there was a line of people waiting for their vehicles. I actually messed up with our reservation and booked it for 7:30AM instead of 7:30PM and didn't realize it until we landed in Orlando. I called NextCar as soon as we landed and explained my error. I think I spoke to someone at a customer call center. They were very accommodating and courteous as I explained this was completely my brain fart error. When we arrived at NextCar from the airport shuttle they have, I was able to hurry into line, which was helpful with timing since the process did take a little while. The gentleman who helped me at the counter was also very courteous. I once again explained my booking time error and he was very helpful. We ended up with a compact SUV instead of mid-size, but I was honestly grateful for that since my initial reservation was essentially cancelled due to my error. I ended up adding the $12/day toll pass which was kind of a waste, but we needed to drive to Daytona and I was not familiar with the route/toll situation and wanted to be safe. They do place a $500 hold on your card and I can confirm that did fall off after a couple business days from surrendering the vehicle, as promised. You have the option to purchase their insurance or use your own. Thankfully we have Progressive and I already had that app on my phone. I logged in and the gentleman who helped me navigated to the information they needed. This wasn't an issue for me, but the guy at the window next to me was having issues with that part and seemed frustrated. So make sure you have proof of insurance - I think it was specifically the Declarations page. I def recommend double checking their site to make sure you have what you need prior to your travel. I'd say it would be a 3-star experience, but I added a star because of them being so accommodating with my booking error that I was very transparent about. The rental price was extremely competitive compared to all the rest, so I think it's a "you get what you pay for" type of thing. Overall pretty clunky and not sure if I would use them again because my husband is pretty impatient, but if you don't mind longer wait times for a lower cost, then it fits the bill. If zero was an option. This location will perpetrate FRAUD on you. They claimed a cigarette sensor went off in the vehicle. The reading was off the charts, 120,000 micrograms, meaning I had to have smoked 8 cigs in 4 min. Was charged $450 They claimed that I damaged a tire upon return. Tire had 11 shaved scratches on the sidewall that somehow did not produce a flat, yet NO DAMAGE TO RIM. When I picked up the car I was upgraded to this one, it was 10pm, dark and parked tightly between two other vehicles, I was told to check the car for damage and mark it, I checked for scuffs etc but would not have noticed scraps on black tires in unlite parking lot at night. Was charged additional $250 I called the company to complain and get refunded and they shunned me, refused to respond to my credit card company. Bait and Switch - my online booking through Priceline looked attractive, even after adding the cost of Priceline insurance. When I arrived at the Economy facility, I was told the insurance was inadequate and would have to purchase additional insurance through Economy. 5 days for $270? No bargain! After hours arrival assured I would be unable to reach my insurance provider. The facts that Priceline keeps "recommending" this place despite all the negative reviews, they don't have human phone support, and their online robot suggests you call Economy directly for resolution, suggest that they are a willing and ongoing participant in this scam. I spoke with other travelers who told me they were coerced into paying 4 to 5 times the cost of their original reservation. These were often people who couldn't afford to do so and were financially vulnerable, but felt like they had no other choice but to comply. The company poses as a reputable agency but in reality they are targeting and deceiving unwitting travelers and extorting them for higher prices when they no longer have an alternative. Impact: Travelers at the location are exhausted, vulnerable, and still being preyed upon every day. These people had small children, elderly parents, and important life events they were trying to get to. It's a scam designed to force people to accept a substantially higher rate under duress. I have never encountered a situation like this in any other city or country I've traveled to. The fact that a business like this is being allowed to continue operating in Orlando is an embarrassment to the entire city, which relies heavily upon tourism. I am not someone who normally leaves reviews like this, but if this prevents even one person from renting from this company, it is worth it. We rented a vehicle nearly two months ago, and I am now having to dispute the $516+ "deposit/hold" with my bank because it still has not been returned. This was not simply a pending hold on my card -- the money was completely removed from my account. When speaking with staff, we were told the deposit would typically be returned within 7-10 days. However, the documents you sign state 15-30 business days and indicate it could potentially take even longer depending on the condition of the vehicle when returned. We returned the vehicle in pristine condition, contacted multiple people through both email and text, and even after the full 30 business days passed, our $500+ still had not been refunded. At this point, I had no choice but to file a dispute with my bank. The deposit is unfortunately only one part of the experience. The rental is advertised at an extremely low daily rate, but once you arrive, there are fees everywhere. We were told we could not simply use our own auto insurance without paying an additional fee to do so. When concerns are raised about these charges, the response is essentially that everything is disclosed somewhere on the website. While that may technically be the case, the advertised price is incredibly misleading compared with what you actually end up paying. Customer service was also extremely poor. Communication was primarily through text/email, responses were inconsistent, the shuttle took forever, and we waited approximately an hour just to get everything finalized. The entire check-in process felt disorganized and unprofessional. One of the biggest red flags for me was being asked to physically write down extensive personal information, including card information, on a piece of paper. I was extremely uncomfortable with that considering how sensitive the information was. We also had to make two separate charges -- one for the rental itself and another for the $516+ deposit -- which, again, was fully withdrawn from my account and still has not been returned nearly two months later. My partner booked this rental last minute while scrambling to find a vehicle, and unfortunately the low advertised price looked appealing. I wish we had spent more time reading reviews beforehand, because this experience has now followed us for almost two months after the rental ended. Between the hidden/additional fees, incredibly lengthy check-in process, poor communication, shuttle delays, questionable handling of personal and payment information, and now having to involve my bank simply to recover our deposit, the entire experience raised serious concerns for me. This company stole my money. I made the mistake of pre-paying online for a car rental. It was paid in full, but they did tell me online that I would have to make a deposit when I picked up my car. I was fine with that. But when I got there they started telling me that I had to pay more because I was local, and had to pay more on mileage even though I aready paid for unlimited mileage, and had to get insurance, and a few other upcharges that I forget now. To make matters worse, there were no actual customer service representatives available to speak with in person. We were only able to communicate with someone through a computer. When you have an issue with a rental car reservation and unexpected charges, you should be able to speak with an actual person who can help resolve the situation. The entire experience was frustrating and incredibly disappointing. If there are additional mandatory fees or costs, they should be clearly disclosed before the customer pays, not presented as a surprise upon arrival. I'm not one to review businesses online bc I normally don't care, but if I can help prevent even one person from renting from here, this will be worth it. Here are the reasons why I had a negative experience with NextCar: 1) Very poor customer service, at least at the Orlando office. The shuttle service was supposed to be every 15-20 minutes but it was 45 minutes, and that's because another shuttle guy called NextCar's shuttle guy since I could not get ahold of a NextCar rep 2) Speaking of poor customer service, I was not able to speak on the phone with any NextCar rep - they only offer communications via SMS text or WhatsApp (I felt like I was being scammed, not gonna lie) - and even then, I barely got responses 3) To check in once I was on site, I had to go inside an enclosed booth and virtual chat with a rep. It was uncomfortable and it was a really lengthy experience to check in 4) My rental car had a lot of issues and I had to spend my own money on maintenance so that the car was safe enough to drive/I felt safe driving. The back left tire was faulty and my car shook when I went above a certain speed limit. I truly felt really unsafe driving the vehicle. Overall, please please do not consider renting from NextCar. They are a scammy business and I would not recommend them even if they have good deals. You'll end up paying for it in other ways. I drop my car off tomorrow morning and cannot wait to get this vehicle off my hands and be done with this experience. I didn't want to wait until the morning to review since it's been so bad! We were one of several customers who appeared to be having issues with this company, including unexpected insurance up-charges and questionable SunPass fees. The customer service representative, who refused to provide his name, phone number, or access to a manager, was extremely rude during both pick-up and drop-off. Two parties left, we should have followed. Instead, they charged our card and are now refusing to refund the deposit. The first vehicle we were given had two completely bald rear tires with virtually no traction. We requested a replacement vehicle, and then were later charged $495 for "smoking" in the vehicle, despite the fact that no one smoked in it. Their own monitoring data appears to show only a single alert during the four-day rental, which occurred immediately after a car door was opened. The vehicle itself was dirty and in poor condition. Communication with staff was difficult throughout the entire process. They were aggressive and rude and seemed focused on adding extra charges at every opportunity. We had already purchased insurance through Expedia, yet additional coverage was repeatedly pushed on us. We are seasoned travelers and have rented vehicles all over the world. We have never experienced customer service this poor or a rental experience this frustrating. Probably the worst rental car experience of my life. Whereas other offsite companies had shuttles coming every 15 minutes, I had to wait 50 minutes for one shuttle to a location that is 10 minutes from the airport. You speak with someone at the front desk and then they send you into a random booth to video call with another agent. The agent at first tried to downsize the car we got from full size to mid size unless we showed proof through Priceline. On Priceline, the reservation also said unlimited miles, but these scammers at Nextcar tried to tell us we only had 50 miles a day and then would need to pay for every mile over. You can't even contact these people because the number goes to automatic services and then there's no way to speak to an agent. 0 stars! Worst rental car service I've ever encountered! Scam artists! We paid online through Priceline and that was a huge mistake. The employee who waited on us was no different than Miss Cleo. We were exhausted from our flight and travels and just wanted to get in our car and go to our hotel. That took about 45 minutes unfortunately. She tried to sell us on this and that, which was annoying af! Everything was pre-paid and all she should have asked for was ID and proof of insurance. She then lies to us and tells us that we will need an EZ pass as there are a lot of tolls and it's worth it. So we paid $55 for a pass that we literally passed through two tolls that would have cost us $6. Disgusting! We asked for a refund for that lie, but we never received it. I hate scammers and this place employees nothing but them. They also overcharged us for gas after we prepaid for it because we knew we wouldn't be able to fill up before due to shuttle service, early travels, and the time our flight boarded. I have no idea how this company is still in business. Unfortunately, I was an hour late to my reservation due to my plane being delayed. Their policy states that if you are an hour late, your reservation will be cancelled. I showed up about 5 minutes after that hour time limit. They had already cancelled it when I got there AND had no record of it. I understand policy but to have zero record that a reservation ever existed is wild. When I asked if I could just get a car, they said no they were sold out. After 5 minutes! While I was in there, 5 other people also complained and ended up cancelling their reservations and going somewhere else for reasons such as charging more at the time of the reservation due to "rate increases", unable to find confirmation number (when NextCar should have it), having the wrong type of car insurance etc. read more

Somehow Monday to Thursday became 6 days. On top of that, our signature appeared on the updated contract. Completely unacceptable. Trying to contact them afterward was a waste of time because they do not answer the phone. Once they have your card information, they seem to do whatever they want. Make sure you get written proof when returning the vehicle, because if you do not, you may end up dealing with extra charges too. Next Car's communication with me before my arrival for pick-up was subpar. The confirmation email had several typos, which is unprofessional and unpolished for a business trying to compete with Hertz, Enterprise, and the like, for customers. The per-day cost is less expensive than larger competitors; however, the deposit hold is ridiculous and misleading. The confirmation email stated that the deposit/hold would be, and I quote, directly from the confirmation email... " The security deposit varies from $250 USD to $500 USD for all cars." (photos attached). I was told upon pick up that my security deposit was $2,500.... yes.... TWO-THOUSAND FIVE-HUNDRED DOLLARS. When I asked the staff member who was checking me in why the cost was so high, and why was it different than what was shared in the confirmation email, which I showed him, he stated that he was not sure, and that is what the system determined based on the car I chose. I even showed him the email which stated the deposit would between $250 and $500... there's even an erroneous line in the email that says the deposit will be $1,000 (which was also contradictory to what was stated in the confirmation email in another place), but he said there was nothing he could do. Instead of arguing, holding up the line, or getting my fiancé even more upset, I told him to run my card and begrudgingly accepted the security deposit. The security deposit amount being sprung on us after traveling across the country for several hours is unacceptable, especially when it directly opposes what was stated in my confirmation email. Moving forward, I would never utilize NextCar or recommend anyone to do so. When I arrived, I provided an insurance ID card, a photo of my insurance policy, and a digital copy of my insurance ID. I was told that none of these were acceptable and that I would have to pay more than ten times the originally agreed-upon price in order to take the car. Although there were employees physically present in the building, no one assisted us. Instead, we were directed to speak with a woman via a camera in a phone-booth setup. She was unable to explain what documentation was required to approve the insurance and simply rejected every document we provided, including the digital insurance ID, the policy copy, and a photo of the physical ID card. As a result, I lost the money paid for the rental, incurred a $60 Uber charge to get somewhere safe since no on-site staff would help, and then had to rent another vehicle from a different company that had no issue accepting the exact same insurance documentation. It was late in the evening and when I called the listed phone to make sure we were going to get picked up I received a standard AI response. When we finally got to the place we were gouged to pay more than double the quote by rentalcars.com for liability insurance and a $450 deposit plus credit card fee (which I believe is illegal to charge). Because it was late, I had limited options so I followed through only to realize later that, even though I was charged the liability insurance, I was made to sign that I had declined it. Not only that, but the deposit was not put on hold but was actually charged. When I returned the car I told the person about the deposit and they told me it would be returned in 7-10 days. Warning: Be cautious when renting a car from Next Car Rental at Orlando airport. I made a reservation through Expedia and purchased online insurance, paying upfront. Despite confirming with Next that my insurance was acceptable, I encountered issues at the counter. The representative claimed my online insurance wasn't valid and insisted I purchase theirs, despite my having full coverage through State Farm. They canceled my prepaid reservation and tried to charge me a different rate with insurance. Expedia attempted to contact Next with no response. After requesting to speak to a manager, I was met with unhelpful service. I advise everyone to avoid renting from Next at Orlando airport and instead explore other options. I waited for over an hour at the Orlando airport for the free shuttle that allegedly runs every 15-20 minutes. I tried to call the company and got no where. Went thru an automated system that was an endless loop and then would hang up on me. Had to pay $30 for a taxi and when I finally got to the location the attendant argued with me about the shuttle not coming. They made no effort to address my issue, not even an apology much less some sort of compensation. Avoid this company, the advertised lower prices are not what they seem.
