Nexus has been an absolute breath of fresh air. Jonathan and Celeste continuously go above and beyond, and they are genuinely the most responsive and proactive management team I've encountered. What really stands out is that they listen, take action, answer questions, and actually have systems in place to stay organized and get things done. That shouldn't be remarkable in HOA management, but unfortunately, it is. For our Board, Nexus regularly hosts webinars on HOA-specific topics and brings in vendors and experts to educate us on changing laws, maintenance, and other important issues. They also have a wealth of trusted contractor and vendor contacts, which has been incredibly helpful when addressing maintenance concerns and community improvements. And from a resident perspective, my experience has been just as positive. When I needed to update information for our callbox, their online portal made the process incredibly fast and efficient. They communicate with us regularly through their resident center app/email. They have such an organized portal for us to find information related to our community. I could go on and on! Payment processing system is good ( let's hope they have good cyber security infrastructure in place .. time will tell). Poor conflict resolution systems in place. I sent an email a year ago with pictures and details about damage being caused by association trees only to receive a response. "They were too busy to cover the subject during a meeting" and crickets for a year. They tried to charge me far above what our normal replacement cost for a pool key, about $50 over the " usual" and after requesting a call from our management liason ... crickets for several weeks.. still waiting! I was genuinely impressed when Steven personally returned my initial phone call to explain exactly what I needed to do to get my work order started. Our HOA recently transitioned property management companies to Nexus Smart Communities, and the experience has been exceptional from day one. After becoming increasingly frustrated with our previous management company due to slow follow-up, delayed projects, and difficulty obtaining bids or moving initiatives forward, we knew our community needed a change. Since partnering with Nexus, the difference has been remarkable. In just our first Board meeting, we accomplished more than we had throughout much of the previous year. She kept us moving forward and prepared before our very first Board meeting, has helped keep the Board on top of every project, and consistently follows through on commitments. She responds to emails throughout the day, keeps us updated without us having to ask, and has made us feel like our community is genuinely a priority. It's refreshing to work with someone who is proactive and organized. I would also like to give a shout-out to Jonathan (CEO). He's clearly built a team around accountability and transparency. The customer service is exceptional and tailored to the unique needs of each Board. He personally conducted a comprehensive walkthrough of our property before the management contract even began, and then returned with Celeste for another 2+ hour walkthrough to learn as much as possible about our community before our very first Board meeting. Definition of actions speak louder than words. In just a short time, we've seen more progress than we experienced over the course of the previous year. I'm personally excited about what the future holds with this partnership and highly recommend Nexus to any HOA looking for a responsive and organized management team. If only 0 was an option. This management company is in way over their head. Lack of basic HOA knowledge. They took over our HOA and ran it into the ground. They do not do monthly walk throughs (like they're contracted to do) They run their meetings to be listened to not to listen to the homeowners. It takes months to get requested invoices. They're MO is to point blame rather than take responsibility for their mistakes. ZERO accountability. Ellie is always very rude and very pushy to push her agenda, never listening to the homeowners. Edit for response: Me not attending meetings in the past has no pull on right-now issues.It's unfortunate Ellie runs the meetings and doesn't really allow any say or input. The board members just fearfully say 'yes' to all her doings. She uses scare tactics toward the board. It is unfortunate that our current board has not once checked and balanced anything from your company. You have signatures signing current checks of people that haven't been on the board in years? When there's a vote, she only asks for who's in favor, never who's opposed. We are well past the timeline for the accurate documentation that has been requested. Not one document supports the other. Very odd. We also received a yearly budget for a complex in Anaheim that has nothing to do with us. I highly suggest you check your employees' files before you respond. Taking her word for it, clearly, was your first mistake. read more

Nexus has done a great job managing our community for the past 3+ years. I served as board president during that time and have sold my unit, so I am no longer involved, but I wanted to take the time to write a review based on my positive experience. When we switched to Nexus, our community had dealt with several different managers, some very bad, and the most recent one just unable to competently advise and guide us. Nexus offered us a streamlined approach with an attentive manager and resources to assist the board. They stabilized our community and allowed us as the board to make sound decisions. They handled all of the service calls and bid requests and I really appreciate the cloud based filing system and collaborative tools that streamlined meetings and documents. I highly recommend Nexus to any community looking to improve their community and empower their board. If I find myself in another HOA in the future, I know who to call. read more

If I could give zero stars, I would. I strongly caution any HOA considering this management company. Their level of unprofessionalism is unacceptable. Communication is inconsistent, emails are ignored, and important matters are handled without proper notice or explanation. Our experience with the owner is that he's very unprofessional, and will only respond when legal action is threatened. Even more concerning is the lack of ethical business practices. There is little transparency, and decisions impacting homeowners' accounts appear to be handled carelessly. A property management company should operate with fairness, honesty, and clear communication. this company does not meet those basic standards. All they care about is raising HOA dues so that it's unaffordable for members of the community. read more

What a world of a difference. Our association began the search for a new management company when our last, "highly-rated" management company began ignoring emails from the board and missing important deadlines such as our reserve study. The team at Nexus SC worked with the board to ensure a smooth transition, and has been hard at work getting caught up on the work missed. In terms of value, we're paying close to what we did with our previous management while getting an online portal, and digital tools such as Google Workspace for document sharing, on top of the excellent service. We live in San Diego and found out on September 30th around 5:00 pm our management company has changed to Nexus Smart Communities through an email asking for our HOA fees on October 1st. I called the previous management company regarding the email and they told us we should have received a welcome packet. NEVER RECEIVED IT. I don't know when we switched to this property management company, but they are the absolute worst. They just switched our parking permits over to courtesy patrol and have denied my parking permit when I have three vehicles registered to my address. Clearly I cannot fit three vehicles in my garage. When I contacted courtesy patrol, they said they denied my parking permit because they went to inspect my garage again. For what? What do you need to inspect? Clearly, I can't park three vehicles in my garage and I already did a garage inspection so I don't understand what the deal is. I've tried to reach them and have been unsuccessful. I've tried calling and leaving a voicemail and have not heard back from anyone. I just sent an email today and I'm hoping that maybe I'll get an email back but this is absolutely insane that I have to waste so much of my time to deal with a problem that should not be a problem. read more

My name is Auna Raquel Pines 1st Nexas smart communites is an awful hoa they did NOT fix the pool, jacuzzi, put back the bbq grills in the bbq area and cut the four tall trees in the pool, jacuzzi area, and they allowed people to target me they did not help me when i was defrauded and suffering when the police was not helping me by getting me help to put the frauder in prison and to give me alot of money to get a dstance from mean people and they were ignoring me in a crisis trying to get a house away from the mean people in the building they had video cameras of the guy who defrauded me and did six months worth of damage and had refused to give me to video footage for the police showing the frauder. this is so bad that i am planning to sue them for 25 million dollars with the police and put them on the news with the police read more

As a homeowner of a condo, there are alot of frustrations dealing with HOAs but this has been very frustrating. No response from their team for over a week regarding an ongoing issue, our HOA has risen over 100 dollars since they took over. Meetings are inappropriate and we are timed when we try to speak on issues like we are in kindergarten. No logical explanation is given when work requests are not approved and placed responsibility on the homeowner even though the issue is from the inside of the building which is the HOAs responsibility. A week since I have received a response to me emails or a return to my voicemails. read more

We've owned a property at Apache Drive in Chula Vista for over 25 years. Under Walter's Property Management we paid our HOA fees promptly every month. When Nexus took over in October of 2025 we no longer received an HOA fee bill either by email or by mail. We are in our 90's. My husband, who is 92, pays the bills. 5 months later, a collection agency notifies us that our account is in default and we now owe $2,550, this inclded late fees and $500 for the collection agency. We did not receive a late notice either by email or mail from Nexus saying that we were late or over due. I get it that we should have been responsible but seems to me they were pretty negligent by not notifying us before turning our account over to a collection agency. I paid the collection agency in total and called Nexus to inquire how we could could pay our monthly fee but they said they couldn't talk to me as long as we were in collection status. Isn't this a friendly Community Organization? Guess again!! read more

This management company is a joke. Their own outgoing emails mention to essentially not rely on the app as a communication tool and instead provide various emails to contact for different issues. Then when you email the various emails they tell you to just use the app. Additionally, the company can barely provide HOA statements of amounts due. Clearly they're in over their heads. The people I've interacted with over email have been pretty passive aggressive as well and overall not helpful. Do not recommend. read more

This is not a property management service. This is a disservice of property mismanagement. Communication/scheduling repairs have been slow as a snail with this HOA. We are in an ongoing repair for our newly bought condo and scheduling is a headache. First they told us the repair will only be 3 days and we needed to find accommodation during that time period. Now they tell us we need to find accommodation beyond the 3 days. Google hours say they are operating from 8AM-5PM but they never answer the call after 3 PM. Architectural request also takes so long for approval, it took 40 days for our last one. If we are paying so much for HOA fee they need to show some professionalism to the residents. read more

We truly felt that she was with us every step of the way, and we're very satisfied with the way she handled everything. She even followed up the next day with a phone call to make sure the issue was resolved. Even though we were a bit short, Reina remained kind and pleasant throughout.
