Nexx Burger had been on my list to try as I pass by it sometimes during work hours. I remember it being another burger joint and saw that it had been knocked down to build this new restaurant. Looks like there is a drive in now in the new building. This is a casual fast food and quick service type of restaurant. You order at the register from a pretty simple and basic menu. They give you a buzzer to alert you when your food is ready We saw a banner outside that it was their 5-piece chicken strips meal special on Wednesday with fries and a drink for $7.99. I can't even remember the last time I had lunch for that price. I ordered that and a hamburger to taste since it was my first time here. The banner must've served its purpose because every other person wanted to get the chicken strips. My order came out pretty fast, but my coworkers who ordered before me had to wait longer for their orders and our orders were very similar. That was odd. When I went back up to get my food, other customers seemed upset that they were waiting a long time for their to go orders. I guess their chicken strips were in the queue. We ate outside which was fine since the weather was nice. The chicken strips were small, which reflects the price, but it was a decent quality of chicken breast. Probably should be renamed to chicken fingers. My hamburger patty was super thin. I think I'll try a thicker patty next time. The taste was decent and pretty good. I ordered the double burger with extra onions with a switch of onion rings for the normal fries, and then found out you can add 2 chicken strip for about $4 more. I tried out the lemonade they had which wasn't bad, a good sour/sweet blend. As we waited for the order we heard what sounded like someone throwing boxes on the other side of the wall. Maybe they have a fry cutter like In-N-Out? We noticed the music to be a bit loud and somewhat innapropriate. The order came and we sat down, started eating as we were on our lunch. There was about 6 to 7 people at the start of the mean and 2 ladies where having an animated conversation amongst everyone else. Mind you this is a shoebox of a dine-in area. So we ate and I wasn't impressed. My double burger reminded me of a Del Taco double burger... I literally had to look back at the menu to be reminded that there is lettuce in the burger. My double onions were as big as the meat and everything else was basic. The bbq sauce was to my liking, but the thousand island could be thicker. Now more on the environment... It... was... loud... I am mid 40's and had a super old man episode. You could hear every conversation, and everyone was trying to speak over the music and eachother like their parents never once paid attention to them. It was horrible. All this while eating greasy food and having the wall noise going on as well. I really hope it was a fry cutter, but damn that thing was in the wrong place. We decided to order the hamburger combos and added cheese to them and ordered a shake on the side. The burgers felt smaller than in n out. Good ambience. The fries were crispy and fresh. Very good if you ask me. If you are starving, definitely get a double or 1/3lb burger because a simple hamburger will not fill you up. I order sides of ranch for an additional charge. Nexx burger has the best price on fast food with the need of an app. My double cheeseburger and medium coke was $7.00 something change. The shiny stand alone building on Grand and Edinger has a fast drive thru and walk in option with a parking lot. The burger was decent but had a weird taste. It reminded me somewhat of the taste a JollieBee burger has. It tastes nothing like In and out, or other burger places. I only had grilled onions and they were more like steamed onions. Tried this burger spot for the first time and overall it was a decent experience. We ordered a double cheeseburger with chili cheese fries and a regular drink, plus a regular cheeseburger with grilled onions, Nex fries, another regular drink, and two spicy chicken strips. The total came out to around $33, which isn't bad for the amount of food we got. When we first got our drinks, they were flat with no carbonation, but the worker quickly replaced them without any issue. The drink size was actually pretty big--honestly, one would've been enough to share. As for the food, the burgers were okay but didn't really stand out. The double cheeseburger reminded me of a Carl's Jr. Famous Star, just with a thinner patty. I added grilled onions to mine but could barely taste them, which was a bit disappointing. The sauces were hit and miss. I didn't like the ranch--it lacked flavor and was a bit runny. On the other hand, the spicy ketchup was really good and paired well with both the fries and the burger. The house sauce was also a nice addition. The chicken strips were slightly dry, but the flavor reminded me of buffalo sauce, which I liked. The chili cheese fries were very heavy and came in a large portion--definitely shareable--but not the best I've had. HAIR IN MY FOOD AND UNPROFESSIONAL MANAGER Issue 1 of 3 - Ranch placed in bag was not properly sealed and leaked during hand off from drive thru to driver to passenger seat, ranch dressing seeped out. Issue 2 of 3 - Opened the chicken sandwich to ensure there were no pickles and noticed it's a 'chicken tender' cut in half. (see pic) Issue 3 of 3 - 2nd ranch that 'was sealed' had two brown HAIRS in it. (see pic) Called the manager at Nexx burger (on Edinger in Santa Ana) to let the manager, named Marco, know about the issues. He says: Marco: "Okkaaayyy...? What do you want me to do about that?" He expected me to do his job for him, as if I'm supposed to learn the fast food business to tell him what he should do. Unprofessional, to say the least. To put it on the customer to figure out the solution to their restaurant issues. I won't be going back. I hope corporate sees this and reviews the phone call. So glad they opened a location closer to Tustin! This was my second visit and to answer the question everyone is thinking, yes it's very comparable to In-n-out. However Nexx has better prices (for the burgers) and way less of a wait time which is my biggest issue with In-n-out. It was my first time trying the spicy chicken sandwich 9/10 it was great and I would order that again. Double cheeseburger (my husband gave it a 8/10 and would order it again. Size wise they are the same size as In-n-out burgers. Pro-tip they also have yellow chilis :) We also got the chili cheese fries ($8.50) and there's no way I would order these again considering the amount they give you and that they really aren't anything special 4/10. They reminded me of the chili cheese fries from Wienerschnitzel which you could get for half the price here and they do them better in terms of price/quantity/quality. I saw people taking orders in the drive through and the drive through was moving quick. Inside the place looked immaculate and it smelled so good. I walked in and was greeted and there was plenty of staff keeping busy. Amy took my order and she was super friendly and helpful. She gave me some recommendations and was patient with me. Been here a few times. I originally went to the orange location. This place just opened up a couple of weeks ago. Decided to try it out since it was close to my job. Really love that it's still busy even in this economy. Restrooms are nice and clean. Staff is friendly and provide fast service. The interiror is nice and clean, the same with their exterior patio seating. The menu is simple and easy to find what you want. Food is good no matter which location you go to. I was assisted by Aaron. He was very professional and helpful. Definitely will be going here more often since there aren't many places really close by in this part of town. First of all the parking lot is a little tight, but they keep the drive thru line moving quickly so I was in and out (funny) in less than 10 minutes!
