I like coming here for a men's haircut because they are reasonably priced ($7) and they tend to style my hair in the way I like. They have good customer service and the stylists don't fret when I ask them to correct something on my hair. The only downside I see is that they seem understaffed. I had to wait about 15 minutes to get my hair cut because they were only two stylists on the floor with other customers. I will update my review if changes occur. read more

I came in to get an idea for pricing on bleaching and dying my hair purple. However, I was met with rude and curt responses. In a seemingly condescending tone, I was told about the common knowledge about what bleaching can do and that dying your hair will fade in 1 week. It was almost as if she was trying to get rid of me. Nga implied that purple hair didn't fit me, making a comment saying that purple hair is for fashionable people and that I was too average or boring for it. read more

My mom actually took me to this salon a couple weeks before to get a hair cut. I forgot her name (Thao I think...? I'm sorry if I got her name wrong but she has blonde-ish hair!) was so sweet and funny! They welcome walk-ins and are very prompt with their service. I got my hair washed and sat down in Thao's chair and she asked me what I wanted. I went almost 8 months without a hair cut so my hair was out of control. She trimmed about 3 inches off but kept the length since that was what I wanted. I got long layers that blended nicely together, not choppy ones like I have gotten at other salons before. She took her time and made sure I was looking at the mirror as she cut. After I think 45 minutes, my hair was done! It felt and looked healthy and light again! Since then, my hair has been so much easier to manage and maintain. No more tangles and knots in my hair! After several weeks, i decided to dye my hair. I use to be a hair-dying machine back in the day!!! After two years of leaving my hair alone and growing it out, I finally decided it was time for a change! Good thing the new year was just around the corner too :) I went in and Thao remembered me! I told her I wanted the ombre style of hair color and showed her an example. She knew what I was talking about and began examining my hair and its current color (natural brown-black). She told me it was a difficult thing to do but she could do it. She began to bleach my hair and another lady also helped (didn't catch her name but she was very nice!). This whole process took almost 4 hours because remember, my hair is pretty much virgin hair that is black so there is a lot of pigment already. To get the effect I wanted, I had to bleach my hair! After bleaching it, she toned it and did whatever else. She also had me choose a shade and color family that I wanted. I did not want any orange in my hair like before back in high school and she made sure of that! The process was long and grueling but it was finally done. Her assistant also curled my hair and made it all pretty! I really liked how it turned out. It's a blend of several colors going from my natural hair color to dark brown, light blonde-ish, with some copper toned colors and almost light blonde at the tips. The blending is really natural and ahh, I'm in love! I found it affordable as it was $60 (excluding tip). The salon is decorated in shades of neutral brown. I really love how it is set up. There is a lot of sunlight coming in so what you see in there is pretty much natural light. The music isn't obnoxious and they also have a nail station. The sign says they are a full beauty service salon so I'm assuming they wax and all that other good stuff. It's hard to find parking sometimes as it's located in the Stater Bros plaza on Westminster and Newland. The salon is down the row from the seafood restaurant and it always seems packed the two times I've been. Overall, I truly enjoyed my hair experience as I went in uneasy as I have never been to this salon before. I got the hair cut that suits me and the hair color/style that I asked for. The new owner who used to work for other salons was one of the best hairstylist. Now as a "business owner" she does a very sloppy job and worries about quantity vs. quality work. She touched up my roots in less than five minutes, made me sit for 40 mins and I had to remind her to wash my hair to avoid it from damaging my hair. On top of that she stained my forehead really bad. One of her techs tried to rub it off with a special solution three times and it still didn't come off! I asked him to try to take it off and he was afraid that the solution would burn my skin. That's how bad it was! The owner then told me to leave on coconut oil for several hours after I leave the salon so it can come off...who comes to a salon to try and look better but comes out of the salon looking like a freak?!?! I will no longer advertise or recommend her again! This was worst than a DIY!!! read more

Came here the first time today and I absolutely loved it (I usually hate hate hate going to get my hair cut because I seem to always get disappointed). I came across this salon on Yelp and I followed a few of the comments and asked for Mindy. She is so friendly and she speaks both English and Vietnamese. She's very gentle and cut my hair exactly how I wanted it, which probably wasn't too hard considering I wanted to go straight this time around. I went in for a haircut the other day, and I only cut my hair once every 3 or 4 years. I usually let it grow out really long, and then cut it super short to just below my ears. And for the past 7 years I've been going to the same hair stylist, Mindy. She really knows how to handle hair well and I love the time and dedication she puts into making sure my hair is just the way I want it. So this time I made an appointment with her at 10am, but didn't get to the salon until 10:30-ish, because I didn't realize that they had moved from their original location on Bolsa (Oscar's Hair Salon). By the time I got there, she already started on another customer, so she just told me to wait after the lady. Looking around at the salon, it is a big improvement from their previous location. The decor is beautiful and the colors are fun! And Mindy didn't make me wait too long, while also managing to make sure that her other customer was fully satisfied with her hair. I got my hair cut to a dramatic inverted bob cut, and as always I loved the way it turned out! In 25 minutes, she managed to give my hair a style that was definitely for me and for the cheap price of $20! Next time you go there, make an appointment with Mindy! You won't regret it! read more
