Using Uber Eats, I ordered the Jumbo Shrimp and Broccoli, White Rice accompanied by a Brown Savory Sauce and 2 Classic Pork Egg Rolls. Everything was hot, delicious and filling. Nice Day, conveniently located across from the train and police station, offers the highest-quality Chinese food I've found in West Haven. While even smaller than the New Haven location, this spot retains the same modern, bright, and clean aesthetic. As noted by the previous reviewer, Karen, this is primarily a takeout restaurant first with an option to dine in with only about three tables. We chose to eat in and found the table service to be friendly, helpful, and attentive. Although you order at the counter, this is not self-service, so please remember to tip accordingly! The food quality was excellent. The Singapore Mei Fun was perfectly cooked, evenly coated with curry powder, packed with flavor and a hint of spice, and boasting generous portions of high-quality jumbo shrimp and tender chicken. The Dan Dan Noodles, though drier and blander than I'm used to, was still acceptable but admittedly the weakest dish of our meal. Similarly, I would have preferred the hot and sour soup with a bit more spice and sourness, but that's a matter of personal taste. The Soup Dumplings were hot, flavorful, and notably free of excess oil. Overall, the food was "clean" - lightly cooked, minimally oily, and not overly salty. This lighter touch allowed me to enjoy my meal without that heavy, post-meal sluggishness. The price point is slightly higher than average, which is justifiable given the superior quality. I'm hoping they can continue to maintain this level of quality and service moving forward. Finding and retaining good employees is always a challenge as well, so it will be interesting to see how they address potential future turnover. I'm thrilled to have such a great option for Chinese food in West Haven! It's a shame they don't offer the Bone Broth Red Braised Beef Noodle Soup, but it makes sense, as I doubt it would resonate with the local clientele. This place sucks! The ordering is so dumb. How the hell do you have an answering service take orders?? Today I ordered soup and they didn't put the lid on and it spilled half of my soup all over my car. No crispy noodles and no utensils. Half the time they don't have what you ask for. I miss the old place that used to be there. read more

Stopped in for take out recently at the newest Nice Day Chinese restaurant ( in West Haven CT ). Nice Day is part of a chain that has a presence in southern CT & NY. I had pretty much given up on getting decent Chinese take out in West Haven but decided to give Nice Day a try & I am happy I did. First off, while this place does have some indoor seating don't expect table service. This is a bonafide take out joint, that has a comfortable & bright interior & a great vibe. They offer delivery for a fee. They currently have a somewhat limited menu at the West Haven location but most of the selections we ordered were outstanding. The Steamed Pork Wontons W/ Sesame And Spicy Chili Sauce & the vegetable dumplings were full of flavor & very light & tender. Ordered the Kung Pao Jumbo Shrimp less sweet/more spicy & got exactly that with very fresh & properly cooked shrimp. The peanuts that dressed out this dish were very fresh & crunchy & had a deep peanut flavor. Wow. The Kung Pao sauce had just the right amount of tang & heat. Ordered their Chinese style dry stir fried green beans & asked that they add ground/minced pork to the wok to make the traditional version known as: Szechuan Dry-sir fried Green Beans-Ganbian Sijidou. Nice Day accepted the challenge & knocked this dish out of the park. Very authentic. Thru them another curve ball & asked for cold Sesame noodles & received a generous container of noodles & minced scallions but found the noodles a little bit dry & way short on the savory peanut sauce. We improvised & doused the noodles with the left over sauce from the Kung Pao. Our final dish, Beef & Bok Choy, was loaded with tender beef & plenty of baby bok choy in a mild, light & savory sauce - Chinese comfort food. Nice Day counter service was friendly & helpful too. Pleasantly surprised with takeout order of won ton soup (small came with 4 good sized won tons) and order of bbq pork chow fun (had really nice wok hei). Will take out again if I get the opportunity as I'm just in the area for a few days. The order was also ready as promised! read more

Horrible service orders 2 boneless shareribs combo . it wasn't delivered to my hotel room like I asked . Then I got a call it was delivered to the front desk . Went to front desk brought it to my room. Opened the bag no napkins , utensils or sauce . I called them back and complained they use a 3rd party answering service and a manager so he claims that they don't put anything utensils etc unless you ask for it because of the environment. Bland food, portion size was good though. Poor service, staff seemed confused. Smokey in restaurant while waiting 45 minutes for my 15-20 minute order that was held up by a single egg roll. Will not return. If you're looking for a good spot in West Haven, go pick up from United China, they are so much better. read more
