There's not too many places that do a good Taiwanese Style Shaved Ice in Tampa. So I'm glad this place does a good iteration. The ice is shaved to a good consistency and they have a good variety of the traditional toppings you would expect, like taro and grass jelly. The addition of condensed milk on top truly completes the experience. This place is not the biggest, so go with a a small group of friends. This was my first time at Nice Shaved Ice and I loved it. I tried the Mango Madness which is one of their popular treats and it was really good. It was super flavorful and refreshing. The inside of this cafe reminded me of a yogurt land, it was quite modern with comfortable seating. It was small but wasn't packed, so we grabbed seats right after ordering at the counter. We ordered the Matcha Red Bean Shaved Ice. The dish was very sweet, almost too sweet and tasted a bit artificial. Our favorite ingredient from the dish was the lychee jelly for sure! Because as usual, frozen sugar is the key to my heart. --- --- --- My favorite marathon runner and fellow frozen sugar connoisseur, Chris W alerted me to this place because he saw HIS favorite tri-athlete post about it on Talk. I have really great friends. When I arrived, I was bummed because they said they were out of mango, strawberries or boba, which would have been my three top choices for the shaved ice. Eventually, she said that they did actually have boba and that if we wanted, we could wait 15 minutes for her to cut up some mango. I opted for some other things: banana, cantaloupe and some jellies - I actually can't remember everything and if you check out the photo, it's actually pretty difficult to tell. Speaking of the photo, Olympian Chris W said it looked like a "monster vomited on a plate," and I can't disagree with him. But this shaved ice bowl might win my all-time "worst-looking, but best-tasting" award. Seriously, it was amazing. I loved every bite. Stopped in for some quick boba on a hot day and left super happy. The menu while has a great selection isn't overwhelming. Their shaved ice options looked amazing and had we been staying I would have loved to indulge but taking it outside to the car, well I can't imagine in floridas heat it would have lasted long lol. 2 stars. Why? Because of the lack of customer service. I just thought the male was rude in his delivery of communication to us and the members of my party thought so as well. I try to give people the benefit of the doubt but for all 3 of us to leave feeling the same says something. 2 stars because they gain 1 additional from the 1 rating I would have left for the goodness of the boba tea I ordered. I was super excited to come in after sushi but that feeling was shattered with the smarty pants attitude of the staff member. To which I spoke up and said "oh we've had boba tea and are very familiar with it " to which the response was in sort of an attitude was "well that's what I asked you when you walked in". All 3 of us looked at each other. My friend asked about the waffles and he explained the type and the other friend asked if they could just order green tea ice cream to which the response once again was an attitude of like "well if that's all you want". I asked for the boba tea if they had milk alternatives like almond milk or if they were all made with whole milk -- he again mumbled to what I thought he said "whole milk" so I repeat "oh only whole milk" to get a response of "OAT". Again, trying to be a nice person and due to us coming in when no other customers were there I felt I had to get something so I ordered the green tea oat milk tea with boba. The drink was good, not on the same playing field as my other fav places in the area however it was good. My only feedback was that it was REALLY sweet. But I was afraid to ask anymore questions when ordering.... You may be able to get it unsweetened or lighter sweet. Let's just say I won't be back here. No feelings hurt. I got the OG. The regular ice has no flavor (usually there's a base flavor to the ice from other shaved ice places I've been to). It wasn't too bad with the condense milk and powder that came with but it was such a limited amount that the bottom of the bowl was just chipped ice pieces. I'm very happy that there's a shaved ice dessert place in Tampa. I love Asian desserts. I miss living in San Francisco where I could get late night desserts like mango sago and hot sweet milk tea at all hours. This place has a decent variety of Asian desserts, and I hope they do well. This is a hard review for me to write. I'm always divided about whether I should only compare restaurants to what is available in the area or to my experiences in life. I love Asian style shaved ice. When I lived in Houston, I would often get shaved ice topped with avocado and condensed milk (don't knock it till you've tried it). I like this place, but there are a couple reasons I'm at a four instead of five stars. 1. They were out of certain toppings. At 3:45 p.m. on a Saturday we were the only ones there. I'm surprised that they didn't have all the toppings readily available. I really wanted mango, but they didn't have any cut and said it would take 15 minutes. I actually saw the mango sitting behind the counter, peeled, ready to be cut. That takes 15 minutes? They were also out of strawberries. In the end, I went with grass jelly, boba and grapes. I never buy grapes at restaurants, because I have so many grapes at home. That shows that there wasn't any other topping I wanted. 2. I thought my dessert was good, not great. I would never stop anyone from trying this place. I'd actually encourage it, because there are so few Asian style shaved ice places in the area. If I never lived in Houston and spent my whole life in Tampa, maybe I'd give this place a five. But, I've experienced places with better toppings that tasted better overall, so I'm going to stick with four stars for now. I really hope they succeed. They're 12 minutes from my house and I do like shaved ice. One pro is they gave a giant scoop of boba. If I ever need a boba fix, this will be my spot. read more

Cute and aesthetic shaved ice place! My friends and I ordered the matcha ice, strawberry ice, and taro ice, which all came with pre-determined toppings. The ices themselves were good, but combined with all of the toppings, they were a bit too sweet for my liking. There is a build-your-own option, which I think I will be taking advantage of next time. I've been to Nice a couple of time and this place is so cute. The shop is always clean and provides a safe environment to prevent Covid-19 such as screens between tables and employees wearing masks. The store also sells items like fruit popsicles and a variety of bottle drinks. I liked the Cookie Monster shaved ice especially with the banana. I would recommending sharing with a friend since there is only 1 size of the speciality shaved ice. The charcoal waffle don't really have a flavor so I recommend getting your favorite toppings. Been searching for an Asian shaved ice place that serves Korean bingsu like dessert. Found this place on Yelp. I had the shaved ice with mango syrup topped with strawberry mini mochi and condensed milk. Was yummy and worth the drive from Wesley Chapel. But holding back the one star for presentation. Was served in a pretty cherry blossom China bowl with rose gold silverware. Maybe the bowl was too wide or it had too much condensed milk but it initially looked like melted ice cream but once I started digging in it was delicious. The presentation of the Lilac Lilly (made with taro shaved ice) was great. The place is cute and clean with great chandeliers that mimic ice. Just wish the customer service was up to par. Now, I don't like to base my review on 1 bad egg, but it sure does make a lasting first impression. The girl behind the counter Friday night was on her phone and had a scowl on her face (and this is while she was wearing a mask, can you imagine how deep her expression had to be to catch this?) I initially asked about the popsicles that are prominently displayed upon walking in- I asked if any of them were dairy-free. She responded with, "I don't know, they don't tell us." Interesting. I proceeded to the shaved iced concoctions. I knew the taro one had dairy but I brought my little Lactaid pill with me and bit the bullet. Again, the presentation is beautiful, and I guess this is where the girl excels as a worker. But the customer service between her and those I encountered at Kelp, the sushi joint next door, was just night and day. Little did I know, Kelp, the sushi joint next door is owned by the same owners. I initially came here for a small dinner followed by dessert while eating indoors. I asked the girl what the Wi-Fi info was. Again, she looked annoyed, and said there is no Wi-Fi. I proceeded to show her the 2 networks associated with Nice. She said, "I don't know, they don't tell us." I said, hm, just like you don't know if the products you sell have dairy in them? She left the store. I figured she was having a bad day. However, not 1 but 2 girls came from Kelp and told me the Wi-Fi info for Kelp. I thanked all the girls and am proceeding to eat my monster Sexy Geisha roll that was kindly recommended by the young gentleman at Kelp while typing this up! Was very disappointed! Waited anxiously for it to open and when it finally did we went in for a couple smoothies. I asked for a strawberry/strawberry banana and was told they could not do that. The one on the menu had mango (I believe) in it also. I don't like mango and asked to just leave it out. Person behind the counter, whom was very unpleasant, said they could not do that!?! So unfortunately we left with no purchase. I went again about a month or so ago to give it another try, but they were temporarily closed. Not sure if it has reopened yet or not but I would just suggest to the owner to be a little more flexible on the orders and have friendlier counter help. The staff was knowledgeable, patient, and attentive while we were making our selections.
