I've had Nick out several times over the past 10 years or so. Have always recommended him to neighbors because he's local and quite competent. Yesterday I learned the extent of his diagnostic skills, as well as watched him in action as he sawed out a section of 80 year old lead pipe in the ceiling and behind a wall in my garage. To solve a small leak that was a disaster in hiding for a couple of years. Nick is truly on a level of knowledge and professionalism that I haven't seen... ever. Have re-habbed many old houses in my life, but never have had a job like this evaluated, planned and executed in about 4 hours total. Left a spotless work area, cleanly sawed walls (not torn to bits).. and full confidence that this pipe repair could last another 80 years. Super impressive. And all at a price I was happy to pay. My search for a plumber has ended. Nick Allen is the only plumber I will use in the future. He responds quickly, arrives on time and is very personable. No mess after he leaves either. Had him out to check a toilet that wasn't flushing completely every time. He put an auger down the toilet but encountered no obstructions. Flushing valve was working properly. He suggested I contact Toto and see if they had any suggestions or would offer a partial refund on a toilet only 3 years old. He didn't charge me because he said he wasn't here that long and he didn't solve my problem and just to use him if a new toilet has to be installed which I will definitely do. Can't beat that. Nick seems like a great guy, like you'd want to be friends with Nick, like if you heard your sister was marrying Nick you'd be super excited because he's cool as hell and he can totally fix any plumbing issues you got. Nick was here in 30 mins - told me in advance the cost - had the repair to a water line outside done in no time and while he was washing his hands over my sink, he noticed my faucet needed some tweaking - so he just fixed that as well. I always like to support local small businesses. Nick came out the next day after I contacted him and assessed the problem quickly. We had a slab leak, and have had a couple over the years. We called Nick, and he offered to fix the existing slab leak at a reasonable price, but we knew it was just a matter of time before we had another. We decided it was time to repipe the house with Pex. Nick's price was very reasonable and the crew was professional and did a great job. The drywall guy did an incredible job patching the holes. Once the repainting is completed, we won't even be able to tell where the holes were. We have used Nick for years for water heater replacement, hose bib replacement, and now this. They went on to describe why by saying, "if there is a problem Nick will get to the root of the problem and doesn't give up. He is honest and effective ." That was exactly my experience back in February when he came out to my house to try to solve the problem of a "mystery odor". He was all over the house, in the attic, on the roof snd around the premises. I was grateful for his determination to solve the mystery.
