The vibe in this place is amazing! Total 70's at the bar & seating- I loved every bit of it! I peeked in the windows to see it before they opened and we headed back right at 11:59 am for our drinks when they opened at noon. The service was so great- the bartender was super patient, willing to talk, and seemingly enjoyed the people. I expected him to be irritated and rush like most bartenders do (in other cities), but he provided such excellent customer service to us and anyone who talked with him. A great neighborhood dive bar. Great for grabbing drinks with friends after work, and in general a great chill, low key weekday spot (and fun on weekends too). They have amazing deals, probably the cheapest drinks in Austin. Reminds me of Midwest prices, but in Austin. And their food truck is one of the best. And one of the only places in the city to get coney dogs. However, giving a them three stars because the bar tenders can be rude. Other people have mentioned this, and it's very true. We had a few pours of whistlepig 10 year for only $9 but they also had eht bp, rr13, rrsr, and a bunch of other stuff. We also split two jinglebowls. This place is a slice of new York. We moved here from western new York two years ago and this place never fails to remind us of home. The foods super affordable and they also have our favorite brewery. Genesse cream ale. Also the bartender Joey is absolutely a delight to have serving. Moe's Tavern was defined worth the hour drive we made to see it. My kid LOVES the Simpsons so being able to play iSpy throughout the bar to get all the references definitely gave us something to do even though it was pretty crazy when we walked in. This is definitely a bar you can come to watch sports in but as soon as the game was over and the crowd died down we really got to walk through and admire the attention to detail throughout the bar. Luckily we found stools outside and we were able to order straight from the food truck. We had The Clogger triple patty, burger with lettuce, diced onion, crusty sauce and cheese. We also had the Krusty burger, which was a double patty burger also with lettuce, diced onion cheese, and crusty sauce. We were able to try the curly fries, which were pretty good as well. Very popular dive bar that has a couple of themes throughout the year particularly during Halloween and Christmas. Went here around Halloween to experience its transformation to Moe's Tavern from the Simpson's. The theming was on point and the drinks were fun. I got the Coffee and Donuts which was excellent coffee based drink and the cake donut on top was one of the better cake donuts I've had in Austin. I also got Bart vs. Australia which was a blue Hawaiian type cocktail served in a toilet boil. Simply amazed how these bartenders can produce these drinks in such a busy bar. The bar is very lively with a cross section of different groups of every kind of niche you can think of both local and tourists. Simply one of the reasons I live in Austin. There are stool seats at the bar as well as tables on the other side for groups. If you need a drink go to the back half of the bar as the station out front can get backed up. There is also a cash bar towards the back that sometimes serves as a popup bar within the bar. There's also outdoor seating on the side of the bar that you can also take your drinks to that has picnic table seating right next to the food truck. Parking here can be limited but possible at least it's not metered. Normally I have better luck finding parking on the other side of the street. read more

Favorite dive bar in Austin. Dog friendly but I don't recommend bringing them during the weekends. Bar can get super busy and you'll be standing around trying to order but the servers are paying attention to who's next. Drinks are always great and there's tons of fun ones. A fun, local neighborhood bar with a consistently good cocktail menu and food truck. In Q4, the bar transforms, first in October into Mo's Tavern and then into a winter wonderland in December. Mo's pays homage to the Simpsons, the bar dresses up the food and drink menu (hello, Duff), complete with bar staff dressed in character. These months can be quite busy, sometimes with a line. I'd recco going early in the week if you want to skip the line and have a bit more space. Outside of getting dressed up, the bar specializes in a variety of food centric evenings such as $.99 wing night, bogo burgers, tacos & tequila, monthly Steak Frites night, & more. I recently was finally in town for steak frites night ($19 for a steak, crinkle fries & old fashion or boiler maker). I was pleasantly met with the price tag as well as a standard plate (forget the plastic basket) and perfectly crisp steak fries paired with a medium rare steak. The steak was cooked well and tasty. The burgers are a bit larger than your average slider and great with or without the BOGO offering. Despite not having a featured day of the week or month, a few of my favorite menu items are: The pizza log - It is what it sounds like, cheese and pepperoni stuffed into a wonton and deep fried, & pair with ranch. Voila, chef's kiss. The pizza negroni - it's a negroni with a pepperoni and mozzarella garnish. Yum - Fun to try one and then swap to plain negronis. Dirty martini - The bartenders are experienced professionals, shaking up a delicious martini everytime, from a twist to extra dirty. The martini comes with a small side car as well. It's a Tiki Christmas at this East Austin bar! Nickle City's Sippin' Santa pop up is a super cute spot for a night out. With décor literally from floor to ceiling and a menu full of Christmas drinks you can't go wrong. What we ordered: Christmas Colada ($13) - Rum/coconut cream frozen drink. - Normally I find frozen drinks out of a machine are very diluted, but you could definitely taste the alcohol in this one. Jingle Bird ($13) We went on a Thursday night not knowing it is a Buffalo Bills bar so it was quite crowded for the game, but great vibe and energy. Inside and outside space. Food available to order. Pro Tip - There is a small community parking lot one street down you can park in for free! But of course make sure you drink/drive responsibly. Stopped by here for the Halloween Simpsons takeover! I had heard good things about this bar but have never been (mostly because I don't drink). any roommate is a big Simpsons fan so we stopped by. It was incredibly crowded and loud. No one was really taking care to bus the tables and the ground was sticky. Is that the vibe? If so I wasn't a big fan. I definitely had to yell for my friends in the group to hear. The food is only during Halloween I think, unless they are just rebranded food. We got the Krusty burger which was great! Visting in Austin and I took a walk from the Sheraton nearby. A local resident recommended that my girlfriend and I go there for drinks. It's a standard bar with a jukebox, the bartenders were super nice and recommended the painkiller cocktail as one of their strongest offerings. Let me tell you, not only does the drink taste amazing, but it definitely kills whatever pain you have because you'll be too drunk to feel it lol. I come here at least once a week, it is that cool of a place. Nickel City has been great with its popups and themes (Christmas, The Simpsons, etc) and has continued into 'rona times. During one of their themes, the drinks menu does change and you get to try their theme cocktails if you are so inclined. NIckel City offers to-go drinks and food or come inside and relax with a drink or three. It is interesting because they are a dive bar but also sell delicious expensive drinks. This means there is something for everyone. I highly recommend the zombie and painkiller cocktails. My husband loves their frozen Irish coffee drinks and highly recommends them. Food-wise, I am partial to the tater tots. They also have good wings. We came for Thanksgiving. Originally, we were supposed to have reservations at Peche, but when we got there they were closed! So we had to find a backup plan. Nickel City appeared to basically be the only place open, and we had nothing to eat for dinner, so we decided to make it a memorable Thanksgiving. Thankfully, we were able to get in fairly early and get a bar seat, and were served by a really nice and very attentive bartender, who was simply amazing the whole time. We explored the place while we waited for our food since there was no space to sit inside. We got our food pretty quickly which was completely unexpected. We took our food outside and settled for eating standing up. I know it's bar food but it was solid bar food. We had jalapeño poppers, cheese curds and Franklin BBQ wings.
