The barbecue is really good. I've had barbecue all over this country and this place doesn't disappoint

We visited the other location in Watkins Glen, and we loved it! We live near Corning and we were so excited to see a Nickel's Pit BBQ opening near us! For starters, the food was phenomenal, the BBQ we expected. Service was super friendly, and although the Corning location is a bit smaller, our experience was great! There was a bit of a wait when we came in, probably recommend calling ahead. Don't miss the Beetlejuice reference on the bathroom door! Loved it! read more

Stopped for taco Tuesday and was not disappointed. Had the pulled pork and brisket and both were well done and presentation was nice. Lucky Hare IPA was a nice treat and the onion rings were great but as previously mentioned quite overpriced. Stopped in the quant downtown of Corning, NY on our way to see the Corning Museum of Glass. We arrived 20 minutes before it opened and there was already people trying to get in to eat. We ordered the sliced bbq beef sandwich with a side of slaw. It was delicious! Great house sauce, they had several but we just tried the one. We choose to sit outside and had great service. We stopped in for dinner and we're really impressed! The food was delicious. We had the brisket, ribs and the chicken wings with the Everything dry rub. The dry rub was so good we bought three bottles of it to give as gifts, but I may just keep it all! The best part was our server, Jamie! Got takeout while in town and the estimated time was pretty spot on. We had ribs, pulled pork sandwich, and the pulled pork nachos. All three offerings were good and would be something we would order. One of the best things to come out of the pandemic is to be able to order beer to go with your orders and I tell you I'm here for it. For the amount of food we got the price was very fair. Definitely a good option if you're trying to decide on a place to go for dinner. read more

This place was highly recommended and you all did not disappoint! I came in with my husband and our little one a couple weeks ago. We ordered pulled pork nachos and the Nickels Split. SO MUCH FOOD for a reasonable price! It came out fast and hot! Our server was Ronda, she was phenomenal! She was so kind and knowledgeable. Even with how busy she was, this girl didn't skip a beat! We had Nickels for Sunday brunch. The menu on Sunday's is a bit more limited but the result was nonetheless amazing. We had the loaded tater tots, brisket and fried egg sandwich, pulled pork sandwich and the kids had the waffle. Very good barbecue! read more

Decided to get something to eat with my family after the Watkins trail and this place stood out. Off the bat the hostess greeted us with a look. Not so welcoming. We got seated outside and at the moment, we didn't think there was anything wrong with it. The moment we sat down we realized half the table would be scorched by the sun. In an attempt to fix the situation, we decide to scoot over the table and a waitress bringing over our food says " you can't do that" .We then asked if we can split our table with the other one that had a shade. She visibly looked annoyed with us and said "sorry, we have a waiting list". We're not going to argue with her so we just said ok thanks. The restaurant was not full. There was no one waiting on a line to be seated. There were empty tables inside and outside and as we sat there burning ourselves we think "wth, what kind of service is this? There's no one here". At this point we're upset and our actual waitress came to ask if we were doing ok. We tell here we're not and she politely said "ok, I'm sorry about that. I'll see what I can do". 1 min later we got a table inside. I don't understand what was the problem with us sitting inside ---may it have been cause we're Hispanic. Who knows. But on our way out we saw a Hispanic family sitting outside being scorched while empty tables are being saved inside. To top it off, food was not great. read more

First time trying Nickel's Pit in Corning, haven't been to any other locations. Very friendly staff, and quick service. Great drink selection as well. I tried a few different menu items. Highlights were the red eye BBQ wings, the mini cornbread muffins and the cooked greens. I could eat a weird amount of those greens. read more

We were looking for a place to eat and they open at 4pm and we were a little early but there was a person at the bar so we thought they must be open. Well an employee ran up to the door and told us it didn't till 4pm and locked the door. I would've figured these restaurants would be happy for business after the whole covid thing but I guess I was wrong. They could have at least offered for us to go to the bar and have a drink while waiting but that didn't happen. So I can't tell you how the food is and never will because we won't be back. read more

Sat at the bar, Zoria(apologies if that is spelled wrong), our bartender was very friendly, knowledgeable about the beers and yes, Yelp is correct, tots are amazing!!! I haven't been to many bbq places this is probably my 3rd and by far is the best I've been to so I'm no expert but if you aren't either it's worth a try. Me and a friend tried the brisket lover combo and it was very very yummy first time I've actually enjoyed brisket and first time I've had it flavourful and juicy. They are a little pricey but I mean it's bbq it's supposed to be especially there in NY. Will definitely try again read more

Picked because we were hungry and the aroma of the pork was enticing. Ever so glad we went in...the place is small but well kept, Angelina at the bar was attentive and helpful. The food was FANTASTIC !!! We had the loaded tots (delicious, large enough for a meal in itself) and then the pulled pork sandwich (comes with one side). The pork was soooo tender (and no huge chunks to make you messy), the house sauce (you get to choose a sauce) was sweet and tangy, the cole slaw---yummy, even the bun was tasty. The portions are huge---we could see into the kitchen (we sat at the bar) and remarked on the sizes of the platters, etc. Definitely going back! read more

If you know good BBQ, you'd stay a little bit away. We decided to give it a try for take out and were sorely disappointed with everything but the pulled pork. We spent over 70 dollars for the spread plate and to add insult to injury missing a few items from our meal. Another place to add to the list of not going back. read more

Every Sunday I crave a Nickels Pit brunch now. I. Can't. Get. Enough. On my first visit, we sat at the bar as it was very busy. It did take quite a while to get the food and that is my only qualm, but it was well worth it. We had smoked wings in Nashville hot sauce to share, and I had breakfast tacos and my brother a brisket omelette. The wings are a personal favorite. They are smoky and crispy and the Nashville sauce is unique and delicious. The breakfast tacos stuff with pulled pork and tots are to die for. Served with a southwest salad which I barely touched honestly but is a nice light side. My brother loved his omelette. We returned with my parents for brunch again and I had chicken and waffle sandwich. Another superb dish. All four of us loved our meals! I'd be happy to go into every detail but this review would then be a book. They have certain staples that will stay on the menu and another section that will change every so often. I'm a fan of that idea. I've been to the original nickels for regular food, so I'm sure the lunch/dinner at this location is just as excellent! read more

My wife and I stopped here on our way back from a weekend trip to the Finger Lakes, and we were blown away by the breakfast food, which we didn't expect from a BBQ place. I had an avocado brisket toast topped with fried eggs and home fries, which tasted amazing and filled me up for the car ride home. The staff is very friendly, and it seemed like one of the few spots open on a Sunday morning. They also serve several local craft beers and spirits. Cool atmosphere and friendly, professional service but mediocre (at best) food and very overpriced $15 sandwiches etc. The wings and sandwiches looked good and were presented well on the plates, but the flavors left a lot to be desired. Both the brisket and smoked sausage were very dry and bland. The sandwich bun was stale and honestly did not care for any of the four different barbecue sauces. The Ragin' Cajun (ivory bbq/green onion/Cajun blend) wings sounded good on the menu but ended up being a total flavor clash and left most of them uneaten on the plate. The tater tots were excellent. The hostess, bartender and server were all very friendly and attentive. Good selection of craft beers too. This is still a very new place on Market Street and would like them to succeed. I eat BBQ maybe once a year so I'm no connoisseur but I'd been wanting to check this place out. Yes it is a small establishment and the seating has the potential to put another diner right next to you. We went during an "off" time to avoid this. The smell of smoke hit us right away-not something we really care for and it walked our appetites back a bit. We had appetizers and entrees. Ribs, pulled pork, fried pickles onion rings and a pulled pork sandwich with Coleslaw and Mac n cheese sides. The pulled pork was good and the ribs had good flavor. The coleslaw had too much what I believe was celery seed and was bland and watery tasting. The Mac n cheese was good but the 2.5" shallow saucer of it definitely wasn't worth $4.50. The fried items came out overdone for our liking-dark brown instead of golden but ketchup or ranch helped mask the taste. $10 for onion rings is a bit extreme..The "corn bread" with your meal are 2 little bread balls that taste like standard jiffy mix. And I'm probably a weirdo but I didn't like any of the 4 options of bbq sauce provided. Our waitress was friendly, fast, and unobtrusive-we were her only table. Overall it was ok, but not enough to bring us back at those prices. read more
