Came here for a late lunch/early dinner after driving a few hours from Long Island so we were all very hungry! We must have walked in at the perfect time because our wait was only 15 minutes, meanwhile everyone else who came in after had at least a 40 minute wait. We did a quick walk around the quaint town while we waited. Once we sit down, the waitress came over quickly and we ordered. I got the quarter chicken, fries and mac salad as well as the 2 little corn muffins that come on the side. We also ordered a side of onion rings for the table and I was so glad we did because they were some of the best onion rings I have ever had!!! They were large and crispy and had a little hint of salt that added that extra flavor to make them that much better. The rest of the meal was also delicious and a good portion size, but in my opinion the onion rings stole the show. We were hungry and bbq sounded good. Well it was Taco Wednesday at a bbq joint. My wife and I each ordered 3. I had fries and we shared a fried pickles appetizer. Oh don't forget the margaritas. The pickles were the best fried pickles I've ever had. And they were a first for my wife. She loved them. House pickled and cut thick, then deep fried to perfection. Taco's were great we didn't have one we didn't like, but the loaded brisket taco was the best. Great margaritas not too sweet, and enough tequila to get a nice flavor. Paul was our server and was the perfect blend of attentiveness, professionalism,and friendliness, without hovering. Definitely added to our experience. A busy evening in Corning with eateries filling up fast! Glad that Nickel's had a reasonable (15-20 minute) wait time. Clearly it had been a busy day, because they were selling out of specific items. Thankful that they had exactly what we needed to fill us up! The food and service were awesome. The sandwiches are huge! The restaurant has a comfortable interior. Stopped in for lunch on a summer weekday. Relaxed atmosphere and friendly service inside. We did the brisket and pulled pork combo with three pig wings added on. I thought the brisket and pulled pork were both good. Brisket I usually prefer fattier and this tasted quite lean to me. Very good for north of the Mason-Dixon line, but if you're finicky about BBQ then maybe this isn't the choice for you. The sauces were a mixed bag - to my taste buds they were just a little too meek flavorwise. The pig wings are an absolute star! Super tender but still great meaty texture. All the flavor and fat is locked in a thin crust. They are a must-try. They make me think their regular ribs are probably very good too. Went here with my family when we were visiting and my sister had been here before and said it was a good lunch spot in Corning. We got there a little later on the weekend and they were sold out of brisket and all pork which was disappointing because it was about two or three hours or so before they would close. We saw many people turn away due to the shortage of the meat. Sad to go to a BBQ place with no good meat to eat. My mom was going to get one of the other meals but they said that it would have cost the same even though there was no meat on it which we thought was ridiculous. Instead we got some wings and loaded tots. My sister said that they might have forgotten to put on some seasoning on the tots as they did not taste as flavorful as the last time she had them. Good lord this place was amazing! I just spent a weekend in corning less than three months ago and I somehow missed this gem of a place! I loved their food and their sauces were just the best. The staff was very friendly and helpful throughout and pricing was good as well. The Mac and cheese is to die for I'd of eaten just a big bowl of that but the pulled pork was so good I'd of missed it too much! They have loads of drinks and beer choices as well and then decor inside is hilarious. I especially loved the picture by the bathroom I posted with this review. Outstanding! This place is right around the corner from the Rockwell Museum and a great place to stop for lunch before the delightful 15 minute walk to the Corning museum. There were six of us and we had various pork-related foods with something from their considerable collection of beers and ciders. All of us left hoping for an opportunity to return. Family came here for lunch. The decor and ambiance were cool, casual. Kitchen in the front, walk to the back for seating and a big full bar. TV screens and projectors I'm sure play all the big games. Early 2010's country music playing at a decent volume so you could hear it and carry a conversation. Child friendly- high chairs were available. I was excited to try the brisket and the mac n cheese- but didn't see mac n cheese on the menu. We ended up with fried mushrooms and a family platter with brisket, texas toast, salad, macaroni salad and french fries. Plenty for our two adults and one kid, we took home leftovers. The brisket was really the standout of our order. It was smoky, tender and full of flavor without sauce. The added sauce plus the chipotle bbq on the table kicked it up to another level.
