I cant think of another place thats an hours drive away that we go to more frequently...that should really speak to the experience at Nicks Cove. Great food, an amazing view and friendly service.

    Crab Louie

Ambiance and views are great. There are several tables for two along the pier. I noticed that a dog was at almost every table. Not always a good idea. They should be spaced out. Food was another issue. Very disappointing. My husband ordered the fish and chips. I didn't think it was anything special. Just so so. The clam chowder was good. I liked the crispy bacon in it. The crab Louis was awful. I really should have sent it back. Normally, Louis comes with thousand island dressing. This tasted like a vinaigrette, which made it vinegary and bright, as if it masked the crab. There was no bread served with it and for the hefty price, it simply wasn't worth it. Service was okay.

The views were exceptional. The service was ok . The food was another story! The fish and chips tasted frozen, fishy , and soggy . The outside was crispy but fish inside was mushy ! The Cole slaw was very bland . The tempora fritto misto appetizer was the most unappetizing thing I've ever eaten. You couldn't tell what each piece was until you bit into it or tore it apart . Very bland no seasoning too much batter and a weird combo of fried things . Will not go back

This was a bucket list restaurant and it did not disappoint. We went for lunch and it was nice and quiet. No traffic because it was early April and there was still a bit of a chill in the air. The service was fantastic, the food was even better. I've never had BBQ'D Oysters and I don't know if anyone would be able to top this experience. The food was reasonably priced and I'm looking forward to go back.

Was a fantastic selection of food to tease the senses. Great wine selection albeit in the pricey side. Corkage fee is only $20 so worth brining your own if you want to spend money on the food. Food selections were reasonably priced. The salad had a bit too much dressing already applied for me, would have asked for it on the side if I'd known. The fries are unique with Lemon zest. Highly recommend. Only option for dinner in the Dillon, Tomales Bay Area.

Solid choice on Bodega Bay. When most places around were closed , Nick's Cove was open to save the day. Ended up dinning there twice. Service was exceptional. Sweet, personable, and attentive staff. Wide mix of dinners ; young families, old friends, business meetings, road trippers stopping down the coast. Ordered one of everything on the happy hour menu one night. The next : fish and chips & the Shells and Meats tower, Miso Caesar salad. Great atmosphere, spectacular views of the Bay. Just a nice place to take the whole family.

We came based on a locals rec. We were seated almost immediately, but it seemed as though there was only one server for the entire room we were in. The young man was kind and tried his best, but this meal start to finish took entirely too long and he never even came to check on us. Three other people came and dropped off food and drinks. Started with the fries with eyes. Not great. Deep fried smelt. Pretty fishy tasting and served with just basic tarter. We only had a few each before deciding it was a no. We both had cioppino. The broth was good. There were 7 mussels , 4 clams and 6 crab leg sections, still in shell. The crab made the meal extra messy and we were not given extra napkins and again, no check ins to even ask for some. Dessert was just ok. We tried the ice cream, the s'mores and the chocolate cake. Nothing stood out. The room was chilly. Noticeably different temperature than sitting in the main building by the bar. Overall just an okay meal, so leaving with a $200 tab for two people and one set of drinks was a tough pill to swallow.

Came in right when it opened and it's scan the QR code on the table, sit wherever you like type of situation. Front hostess was friendly as well as the staff. Had clam chowder which was not as thick as I would like, fries with eyes - deliciously crunchy, and calamari done right. We also had our first set of oysters for the day and it was buttery and fresh. Had outdoor seating too and has a nice view of the bay.

    What time is happy hour?

We were there in Aug 22. There was no happy hour or even cocktails. Beer in a can and eat outside. Pick up and bus yourself. Skip it and go to Tony's.

Is the restaurant still cafeteria style or have you started being a fine dining restaurant with table service again? If not, when will that happen so we can start going back for a culinary experience rather than just a view?

We were just there 12/3/21 and they were serving regular dinners. We didn't see anyone in the dining area by the bar but did see people outside dining.

Is Nicks Cove pet friendly in their outdoor seating area? We have small dogs and want to stop there for lunch during our visit.

Yes, they are pet-friendly. And it's pawwwwfect for small dogs!

    Do they offer corkage?

Corkage is 20$, however we will wave it if you buy a bottle of our wine.

What are your hours for lunch so we can order off the lunch menu rather than the short menu?

We had a 7:45pm dinner reservation and arrived on time, only to find no one at the host stand. After waiting about 10 minutes, someone finally came and seated us around 7:55. Water was poured, and then nothing. No server ever came to our table. After sitting there for 30 minutes without anyone taking our order or even checking in, we left at 8:25. Really disappointing, because the food actually looked good. We were staying nearby and decided to give it another shot the next morning for breakfast, which was included with our hotel stay. Unfortunately, it was more of the same. We arrived around 9am, again no one at the host stand. We eventually flagged down a waitress, who rudely told us to just seat ourselves. After sitting down, we waited another 20 minutes and still no one came to take our order. We left again without eating. The front of house operation here is a complete mess. It feels like there is no system at all, no coordination, no accountability, and no awareness of guests. At one point, I overheard staff saying things like "let's just say this one has no milk in it" and "let's just say this one is sunny side up," which made it clear they did not even know where dishes were supposed to go and were just guessing. Even more telling, barely anyone in the restaurant was actually eating, and most people looked as confused and frustrated as we were. Honestly, the owner and staff should be embarrassed by how poorly this place is being run. I have never seen such a complete breakdown in service, especially two days in a row. Huge disappointment.

Not my idea of a special night out. Just because you can afford to take your sweetheart out to a nice dinner doesn't mean you're a jerk and deserve to be scowled at. This can happen when you try and do really good food in a rural area and the workforce just isn't up to the challenge. Too bad. Sometimes you can train people to be gracious and inviting and to care about their jobs but sometimes people are just too broken and there's nobody else to choose from.

The smoked trout dip was pretty good with the chip and pickled onion (my least favorite dish). The raw oysters with the mignonette sauce were fantastic...we went for two rounds! My favorite chowder in Bodega Bay was Spud's, but I think this one knocked it out. I enjoyed the smoky flavor to it! Our kids aren't seafood fans so I really appreciated their kids menu that had butter & cheese pasta. Their Bloody Mary was solid as well! The following day, we had the Wedge Salad and calamari along with a bowl of chowder. The salad was crisp and the combination of ingredients was perfect with all the textures and flavors of the bacon, cherry tomatoes, shoe string onion rings, and blue cheese dressing...the best wedge salad I've ever had! I loved the lightness of the calamari batter as well! This is a nicely decorated and clean restaurant. It was romantic with the view of the bay. I felt the customer service was a little off, but eventually our servers were nicer as both lunches went on. There was a Hispanic man that was very friendly and kept our water filled. We enjoyed talking to him. The customers sure were friendly with lots of smiles towards our kids. This is my favorite Bodega Bay restaurant. I look forward to bringing family and friends.

While all along absorbing the beautiful scenery. And beautiful scenery there is indeed, just a short few miles from the bustling city life. My friends from Berkeley came for the ride today for a little bit of decadent indulgence. (I'll keep their names anonymous since I'm not sure if they're still in the witness protection program?) We had lunch at a pizza spot at Tam Junction then took a ride over Mount Tamalpais and down into Stinson beach, and then on to Point Reyes Station. When we got to Point Reyes Station the first thing that I mentioned was the Station House, and much to our surprise as we glanced over it was all shut down! Closed, shuttered, no more, another victim of Covid economy, etc.? We snagged the first parking space a block down the road on the right side, parked, and lo and behold as we crossed the street there it was- the all new Station House! A ghost orchid, appearing in Shangri-La! Drawing us in was the George Nelson bubble lamps hanging from the ceiling and a peek in the windows revealed a much hipper modernized facility in a new location with an incredible stunning aesthetic. Every detail is well thought out and expertly executed. From the polished floors to the beautiful lighting and artwork it is truly a gem. Even the restroom areas are exquisitely presented with sinks and mirrors outside of the stalls. Beautiful tiling in the stall area that somewhat resembles Heath ceramics subway tile. In my book, if there's a nice restroom area you've already scored tons of points and client appreciation. The bartender was top notch and drives quite a ways to come to his gig. We had a great chat with a charming local woman, who appears to eat there often- a real interesting and fun conversation. I had a killer Old Fashioned and my friend had a beer and his wife had an absolutely lovely non-alcoholic drink which I believe was called the Big Lyre. The only negative was that we had just eaten, so we tried the popovers which were out of this world and served with a succulent honey butter. I am filled with anticipation for my next visit, which will certainly be on my next day off. It's a bit of a journey to get there, but well worth it. A must destination, put it on your list.
