Jump forward to the present day and "DICK'S Sporting Goods" takes the crown for the biggest and most complete selection of anything sports-related. This is a nationwide company that has been in operation since 1948 and since then (as of 2026), they have over 700 stores that are currently operating. The location I am focusing on is at the Stanford Crossing shopping center in Roseville, CA. Located directly off of Stanford Ranch Rd and tucked in between Fairway Dr and Five Star Blvd, this location has been around since mid-2017. What makes this idea is the close proximity to other major retailers as well as the very large parking lot. During the dozen or so times that I have been inside here, I have never had an issue finding a parking spot, even during peak holiday season and busy weekend days. Upon entering, you will notice that the store layout is massive. Soon, you will see how this place has just about everything you might need when it comes to sporting goods. The cash registers/customer service area and the lines for checkout are to the immediate right. Navigating around isn't too difficult as many of the aisles give you the feeling as if you are not bumping into anyone. I also wanted to add that there are two restrooms towards the very rear left part of the store. On any given day, there are dozens upon dozens of employees/staff everywhere; usually they are dressed in a green shirt with trousers and athletic shoes. To put things into perspective, they carry a huge assortment of gear pertaining to all types of sports; baseball, football, basketball, golf, hockey, lacrosse, pickleball, tennis, soccer, softball, volleyball, and much more. You will also find a nice variety of outdoor and camping travel essentials that include tents, sleeping bags, outerwear, and ski equipment. Additionally, their fitness/cardio selection is vast with a ton of treadmills, ellipticals, and everything to get your home gym going. I've purchased a mountain bike here that has been great so far. And let me tell you about their clothing line & shoes; here you will find a wide inventory of men's/women's/kids clothes apparel, sports jerseys, and all types of shoes. During my most recent visit, I needed a comfortable, long-lasting pair of reliable walking shoes. After narrowing down my selection, I finally settled with the Brooks "Glycerin 22" series that provided the support and comfort I was looking for. Also keep in mind for the deep discounts this place offers. These shoes were selling for $164.99 but there was an online Dick's Sporting Goods coupon that were selling these for $114.99. Even better, with every purchase over $100.00, I received a $20.00 of coupon which brought my total to $94.99 + tax. Not bad for a pair of quality walking shoes. All in all, "Dick's Sporting Goods" is a very good above average retailer with an absolutely large variety of options. The only negative thing I would say is that their customer service isn't top notch as the employees that worked in the shoe area weren't the most knowledgeable in answering my questions. Not a big deal since I heavily researched these shoes prior to coming here. I think it all depends on which employee works where. For instance, my bike purchase (back in 2020) was amazing but this experience was just average. She had disappeared and there was nowhere to be found so that I could ask for the other shoe. Found another sales person and was told that both of them had a display pair somewhere in the store. I don't know if she expected me to go and find it, but they were the exact same shoe with two different sizes and then they couldn't find the mate for one. And the one that we could find was dirty so I don't know if I was expected to buy a dirty shoe anyway. That's the impression I got when asked. Something about finding another shoe string. They lost a LOT of balls, They seemed to enjoy scrambling around in the thick brush, marsh areas and the stands of trees searching for their balls and finding others. By ball scrounging they were net positive on the ball count by hole #18. No groups behind us so the ball collecting forays were not a problem. Whitney Oaks putting greens are wicked difficult. Not just the hard fast surfaces but from the roly-poly topography. Severe elevation changes on most holes. There isn't a flat green on this golf course. So if you are up for a challenge, come on down. As an indicator of the course difficulty the black tees at the tips have been closed. The blue tees are plenty diffiicult even for scratch golfers. Despite the challenge here, I love this golf course. It's scenic, woodsy, the air smells fresh. I always finish the game 4.5 hours later with a relaxed smile no matter how well or poorly I played.

It was my first ever visit. It's easy to book a session via the website. Pre-pay and heaven code is sent to open the locked doors. This business is open 24/7. It is unmanned. The place is squeaky clean. It's well organized. As a newbie I did have a steep learning curve to launch the game console and the projection system. I've never played video games. After 15 minutes of button pushing the control monitor and flubber-dubbering I finally got it up and running. So #1 recommendation: offer customers the assistance of an employee who teaches a newbie how to run the simulator. If it would cost an extra $15 that would be a good value. I had a planned routine to test 5 different golf balls. I ended up having to swing 125 shots for the record and another 30 for warm-up and repeats when I flubbed a swing or when the Uneekor system did not correctly track the shot. That took 75 minutes. I only paid for an hour session. The system did not lock me out after the 60 minute session expired. My one criticism is the responsiveness of the operating system. It was S...L...O...W... Choosing a routine such as a driving range took the machine at least 2 minutes to launch. I poked the touch screen multiple times to choose a function with no beep feedback response nor the function launching. I don't know if the machine (Bay #1) was glitchy or if this is the usual quality. Once I got the system to work, the simulator did track the ball flight and display the data pretty quickly. So will I use this facility for practice or a simulated round of golf? Probably not. The allure of golf for me is being outside in the sunshine, breathing fresh air. So being in a dark room smashing golf balls into a movie screen is a completely different experience. I will return if I'm tasked again to test golf equipment that requires data gathering.

The whole idea of Tap Houses really does appeal to me…read more I love being able to just grab a glass and seeing all the beers on the wall and picking what I want and how much I want. The people who run Waymaker Brewing in Roseville are doing this at the highest level. I've been to this location a few times for different events and every time a wonderful time was had. So as far as the beers go they have around 40 different beers on tap and also they have 10 wines on tap as well. So exactly how it works is this- When you walk in you give them a credit/debit card-then they give you a wristband-next you grab a glass and go pick your beer or wine and you get charged by the ounce you actually pour rather than by the glass size. Then at the end of the visit, you turn in your wristbands and you get charged whatever it is you poured in total for the visit-I love the entire concept. It's a great way to be able to try many types of beer instead of just a few big beers. Now let's talk about the elephant in the room for Waymaker. The thing that makes this place unique is they have 6 golf simulators a person can rent depending on day and time anywhere from $35-$60 an hour and up to 6 people can play on the simulator at one time. On these simulators there are more than 200 virtual courses available. It's a crazy amount of fun for golfers of all skill levels There is also a hand roll sushi bar inside called Fire Fish where one can order sushi-hand rolls-flatbreads or various small plates. It really is an amazing place. They also have a massive big screen in the back that is furnished with comfortable couches and chairs in case one wants to just hangout and watch whatever live sporting event is happening that visit. Let's see my last few visits I've gone with my son and we played a round of golf at Pebble Beach on the simulator. I've gone to a birthday party for my boss and we had 2 simulators rented and we ate sushi rolls and flatbread while drinking a lot of beer. I've gone to do after work drinks with a friend while watching NBA playoff basketball. Visits to Waymaker can be so many things but I can say for sure every visit will be fun. So if you find yourself out in Roseville and want to try something a little different-head on out to Waymaker Brewing, it really is a great time. PS. Loved that we could practice our swings, use different clubs, and be able to see all of our specs. Loved the idea that they had sushi cause it's our kids favorite. And loved that they had not just beers, but a good variety of seltzers, ciders and even wine on tap! Cons: VERY limited food menu. What they had listed on their website was NOT what they had available for purchase. There were only maybe 10 food items to choose from, and very high priced for what it was. A couple of hand rolls (1 each for $8-$10), Poke Nachos (on tortilla chips - big no no! - use wonton chips!) for $20 (price ok since you got a few small pieces of fish per chip, but they skimped by using tortilla chips, on both price and flavor! And they had 3-4 sushi rolls. Their "special" roll being $20 alone. There wasn't really anything special about it. Definitely not worth $20!! The fish tasted fresh, but so does the local sushi place down the street with massive rolls, full of fish, for $16-18/roll. So don't expect much from the food. I went to ask the guy at the front of if it was user error on the mobile app... he said that they run out of food and when that happens, they just take it off the menu. LAME! Put a disclaimer on your website! Additionally, the guy at the front desk (upon check in) - unhelpful! He asked us if it was our first time, which it was. He set us up and told us if we had questions to just come ask. We did, and each time he seemed like it was more of an annoyance that we were taking him away from his phone time (that he was on every time I went to ask a question). And instead of explaining to us how things work, and how to maneuver through the screens and set things up, he just did what we asked/needed without showing us so we could never fix it or do it ourselves. We figured some things out on our own, but if you have newbies, it would be worth showing them how to use the system so it doesn't take a ton of our paid for time (at $50/hour) to figure things out. Such a waste and makes the cost to worth ratio deteriorate very quickly. So overall, would we go back. Maybe. Definitely not with our kid (which makes it more rare that we'd return). I like to give everything a second try. But for the cost, it would take some convincing and a MUCH better second experience for me to ever go back or recommend this place to friends.
