Went on Sunday night with a party of 13 to celebrate my granddaughters birthday...the food was good but the service was awful ...started when my daughter ordered a a strawberry colada ...waitress brought her strawberry daiquiri and when my daughter pointed out the mistake the server questioned her on what she ordered and her attitude was terrible from then on....we could not dock her on her tip because of the size of the party so she knew it didn't matter how we were treated ...we go there every year and will probably go again but will Make sure her get a different server....should have complained to management but just wanted out of there...btw tip was over $60.... read more

My family visited Nicks recently and I can't say it was as good as it has been in the past. The service is still good and the food still still comes out quickly. I don't know who's tending the smoker these days, but they're not paying attention. Our ribs were pretty dry this time. The meat still came right off the bone, but there was no juice left in the meat, which begged for extra sauce to compensate. However, the sleeper on the menu is the crab cake. It's a good size, all lump, no filler, and deliciously seasoned. I wouldn't normally think of ordering a crab cake at a rib place, but this one deserves respect. Until the ribs improve, I'll skip right past the ribs on the menu and order the crab cake. read more

I haven't hit Nick's in 20 years and was happy to find you really CAN go home again. The ribs were perfection. The crab cakes were great, too. My wife had never been there. Very busy place, parking can be tough. I had the rib/chicken combo, wife had the rib/crab cake combo, little guy had the chicken finger kids platter. Crab cake was awesome, ribs were cooked good and seasoned good. I like how they put a little bit of sauce on and then give you a bowl of it if you want more. Chicken fingers were very good, actual pieces of chicken, not the processed type. Cole slaw was perfect... Definitely deserved the 4 stars. read more

Drive right past J/R's and head to Nick's instead. The ribs are huge, juicy, and never overcooked. Plus, you'll never have unruly children running around screaming like at J/R's. And the place is clean. I'd prefer a bigger selection of sides, although they do make a great baked potato. Your other choices are fries, cole slaw, and apple sauce. If you had room for dessert, you obviously didn't finish all your ribs. read more

Turns out kitchens in Ocean City close pretty early on Saturdays, so we drove around for a while looking for a place to have a late bite to eat (10pm-ish). Finally struck gold with nick's, whose main dining room was closed but we were seated in the bar area and told the full menu was available. Initially considered the crab cakes, but when in Rome... Opted for the chicken and ribs combo with baked potato and applesauce. They had run out of BBQ chicken so the server asked if I was OK with just a grilled breast- perfectly fine by me. The ribs were incredible. I ate them all. I wanted to die later, but the deliciousness of the moment was so worth it. Sometimes when you're sunbathing near-naked you just get the craving for some good ole lip smackin' ribs. And Nick's is the place to get 'em. While everything else on the menu remains if-y and I'm pretty sure the apple sauce comes from BJs in a can, the ribs are so perfectly firm/tender and so succulently bathed in their deliciously vacationable sweet-as-the-beach sauce that it's worth a go every time (though keep in mind you will wait at least an hour, peak-season). We did a late night carry out. For the amount of money we paid, I expected good food. It wasn't. Everything was bland including the ribs. If you're expecting good smoked BBQ ribs, these aren't it. The crab toast was mostly cheese and had no crab flavor. The salmon was unseasoned. I would agree with other reviews however that the prices were a little high but they are unfortunately in line with other restaurants in the area. One of the best meal's you can get in the OC area, hands down. Everything on my plate was very good, which is a big accomplishment in this beach town. Day 4 of my OC adventure ends with dinner at Nicks (I am on a well deserved vacation and I want to live it up). Being a OC newbie I wanted to find the best ribs in the area. I have found the best ribs eva! The ribs are fall off the bone goodness and the sauce is to literally die for. Atypically cozy for a "sport's bar" with a good variety of seating much of which is far away from the bar and quiet. It's great to have a relatively relaxing get-a-way in such a noisy town. I typically go for the prime rib or BBQ ribs which, incidentally, BLOW J R's away. Probably the best on the island. I would describe J R's as "cafeteria style" by comparison. I'm no rib connoisseur, but these are perhaps some of the best ribs I've ever had- meaty, juicy, tender, just the right amount of sauce. "Steak house atmosphere" as someone posted, is a good description but take my description with a grain of salt- I'm a Marylander and I know crab houses but my idea of a "steak house" may be suspect. My cut is decidedly the medium well Prime Rib, not the ever popular (for some reason) NY Strip or girly filet. And this place makes a memorable one. Thick, dense, juicy, just the right amount of charred fat around the edges and bathed in hot au jus. The side baked potato has been on the small side but I can forgive it next to the succulent cut of meat. I confess the size has been inconsistent. I've had everything from conspicuously thin to bust-a-gut thick. Like a lot of OC joints, the food seems a bit better off season when we're typically there. read more

Delightful rib house in OC MD. The ribs were absolutely awesome. Perfectly seasoned and juicy. Just the right amount of lean and fat, cooked to perfection where the meat literally fall from the bone. Typical rib/steakhouse. Nothing fancy here. They don't have a huge selection on the menu but the food was decent. Some in my party had ribs, I had the chicken, and some had fish. All were good, no complaints just not exceptional. Standard side dish offering too. Waiter was a bit annoying because he constantly checked on us, but that's not a bad thing. The service was fast and the food was good. I liked that the ribs had a dry rub, but if you don't like dry rubs they give you a bowl of sauce. The crab cake was one of the best I've had in Ocean City. The plates don't look that appetizing, but that's misleading because the food is really good. Told one of the male employees about it. He made light of it and stated that they set all kinds of traps to catch them. Told us how they sense things with whiskers and laughed it off. Food was served room temperature. Server offered to go warm it up. Said it wasn't hot because she had them rush it. Why did it need to be rushed in the first place? How do you 'rush' ribs and have them come out room temperature?? When they came back to me, one end was still not hot, not sure how that happens. I tried to eat them at that point, and each of the three ribs I ate had bone shards that came off with the meat. When the manager came over his comment was 'sometimes that happens'. No accountability. No attempt at service recovery. Server seemed disinterested and commented that our table was 'cursed'. Just didn't seem to care whether we had a good experience or not. We are locals. Nick's used to be our favorite place for a nice dinner out. The last time we went to Nick's we had a similar experience, but wrote that one off as a one-time bad experience. Now that it has happened again, I think it's an indicator that operations at Nick's have officially gone down hill. I'm disappointed that I can not recommend this once-great establishment. Nice dining area. Clean. Seated at a nice corner round sectional seating. Waitress was kind with good customer service. We came in at 5pmish, party of 7 including two 8 year olds. Drinks brought out one by one. Butter came out before the rolls then the food came out immediately. We are disappointed with our meals. Four adults ordered the ribs, all came in warm/cool. One child's ribs came in fine. We sent our cool ribs back. Prime rib is over cooked. Requested medium rare, came out well done. The prime rib was not sent back because we were done with the whole thing. Ordered an ice water which I never received. These sides were great: broccoli salad, coleslaw, green bean salad. Edit: after sending our meals back, we received brand new meals, including sides. The ribs came back piping hot, the meat was tender, fell right off the bone-wonderful. Lesson learned. They rushed out old food. If you receive food that is over cooked or feels like it has been sitting out - it has, so send it back and get new food. read more

Biggest rip off in Ocean City! Sat down to find 3 separate knives dirty with food still clinging to them. Not a good start. Menus (photocopied sheets with places to color) and crayons are distributed to children. Outrageous prices! $8 for a kids' meal and $3.50 (!!!!) for a kids' drink. (If it's $3.50 for a KIDS' DRINK, what does it cost for an adult's) We chose water. To feed our 3-year-old it cost $11.50! The servings are way too large for kids - 3 huge chicken fingers and extra large helpings of fries. Had to box and take it home. For two adults (2 waters & garden salad with chicken) and 3 children, it cost $68 for lunch! SIXTY-EIGHT DOLLARS. None of the chicken (neither chicken strips or the chicken on the salad) were seasoned. Very bland. Our waitress wasn't particularly friendly; our misfortune as the others were engaging. If you want a bargain and good food, avoid Nick's House of Ribs. read more

I've been going to OC every summer for the past 10 years, and Nicks has become a tradition for us. We have, quite simply, never had a bad meal there. My kids are sort of picky eaters, but I never have any problems with them at Nicks. Last time I went, I wasn't in a ribs mood and had the stuffed flounder and it was also very good. The servers are on it; many OC restaurants hire and fire on a regular basis, the servers at Nicks appear to be more stable, which always results in improved service, The deserts are a tad mundane, but they often are. So why 4 stars instead of 5? There doesn't seem to be a good time to go when you can avoid having to wait. If the weather is decent, it really isn't that big a deal, but last time it was raining, and it was pretty miserable. read more

Used to be our favorite - has been very disappointing this year. We used to go to Nick's every visit to OC, but sadly will have to find a new favorite. Last time we went we found that they had changed the recipe and type of wings as well as the quality of the ribs. Where the ribs used to be amazing, they are now just adequate. This is hands down the worst food I've ever had in ocean city. The Brussel sprouts weren't roasted at all.. Boiled mushy and tiny. The potato skins had no seasoning whatsoever. Insanely greasy. Last night my husband and I had dinner at nicks we were seated within 15 minutes. my husband ordered the shrimp platter and they were delicious and there were nine large shrimp. he said the coleslaw was delicious and that he thoroughly enjoyed his dinner. From the outstanding waitress we had Jennifer, to the fabulous ribs, it was a great meal. Jennifer greeted us cheerfully. I appreciate it when a person is happy with what they do. The ribs were meaty and slid off the bone. The sauce was not too spicy but had a bite. Sweet potato was large and perfectly done. Coleslaw was creamy and homemade. We had dined at Nick's since the 1980's for years as we vacationed annually in Ocean City and loved it. Then we hadn't been to OC for a few years. Returning in 2016, we had to go to Nick's but were disappointed. From the onion loaf to the ribs nothing seemed as good. Yesterday, we decided to give it another shot. Glad we did. It was a great experience. Seemed like old times. The server was excellent and service overall exceptional. None of those problems from 2 years ago returned. If you like quantity for what you pay you won't be disappointed here. We started with the onion loaf that was perfectly done..nice and crispy and hot. The Lulu Pimento Cheese appetizer was also very good. The shareables and sides are more than adequate. My wife and daughter are vegetarians and found the excellent Mac & Cheese almost entree size. Spinach salad was huge and excellent as well. They wished they had only ordered one Mac to share with the salad. They also tried the baked potatoes which are almost as big as I have seen and were perfectly cooked. I had the Rib & Crab cake combo. Never had a crab cake here before but it was as good as anything I have had in OC, even those places with crab in their name. No filler. Baked beans are excellent and the fries were great as well. The ribs were warm, had great flavor (love their sauce) and fell off the bone. I would not call them dry exactly, but a little more moistness could be in order. Can't wait to go back. read more

Well, we decided to give Nick's another try this year. Surprisingly things have significantly improved since last year. The ribs are back to what we remember and everything tasted great. These are my favorite ribs in the world. I've been going to this restaurant for 30 years at least when I'm at the beach. This year Nick's is under new ownership and they seemed to have replaced all the staff. I'll give anyone a learning curve, but I recently celebrated my birthday there. This was my third visit of the year and the service isn't getting any better. It might have gotten worse. The blue cheese dressing seemed to be watered down. Shortly after receiving the salads are appetizers came out and before we touched the apps our dinners were delivered. They have seemed to improve wait times but at the same time it feels like they are pushing you out the door as soon as you order. I would give 4.75 stars for the food, but one star for service and friendliness of the staff. read more
