Just came back from Nicks and McDonald's would have been better . Nicks sadly is under new ownership. The owner of Pizza Tugos owns nicks now and it sucks. Pizza Tugo sucks and don't be surprised to find hair and trash in your pizza and then not have anything done about it. We went in and it was a ghost town. We were seated right away ordered ribs. And they literally came out 5 mins later. I kid you not. We have ate here three times before and we always had to wait for them to be cooked. These were dry and lukewarm and obviously reheated. We were so hungry through we could of eaten a cow still mooing. Should of said something right away or gotten up and left. My boyfriend asked the waiter, how long ago were these ribs cooked and the waiter was dumbfounded. STAY AWAY FROM NICKS. Their customer service sucks. The new owners customer service that is. First time in OC, and our family decided to come here for our first night based on the positive average reviews. I should have dug a little deeper to find out that this restaurant recently came under new ownership and has a steep drop in standards. I can understand why... We ordered the crab toast, which was quite tasty as an appetizer. Our main courses were the ribs and broiled chicken. The chicken was about as dry as a piece of cardboard. The ribs were simply awful. I have no basis to compare how they used to be at Nicks, but comparing them to the many dozens of BBQ places I've been, this one would rate in the top 5 worst I've ever eaten. It's a shame. I wasn't expecting anything amazing, but looking forward to some at least decent bbq. The appetizer was good, but that's really it. Oh, and if you want extra bread rolls, it's $0.95 per roll. We have been coming here for over 40 years. I read the ownership recently changed. Menu is the same, ribs still your best best. I still love the broccoli salad. Prices have risen slightly and the menu itself looks different. However the most annoying change is that they now charge for bread refills! Yes people, you read that right: 95 cents per roll!!! Each person gets two. If you want more even when you order a full rack and have leftovers you must pay. I have eaten at some of the most expensive, exclusive restaurants in DC, NY, Miami, LA, Chicago, and all over the world. Places that specialize in bread and whose bread basket is often their speciality. Never have I ever been charged for a refill of bread placed on the table as part of our meal. Now yes, some charge for an initial bread basket when it is their speciality; in that case it's my choice. However never ever for a refill of what is considered complementary and placed as part of your meal when you receive your beverage. Makes you wonder: if I am actively practicing my 'no carb' diet and say 'no bread' am I credited my almost $2 for the rolls I didn't eat?? We asked the manager about it, who offered the response 'well everyone gets 2.' An annoyance and honestly something that needs to go back to the way it was. Just ate there tonite, something different-menu looks different with not so many choices, also price increased. I wanted a burger after arriving today but not on menu. Our food came out maybe 1-2 minutes from when we ordered -way too quick if u ask me. My wife went to the ladies room after ordering and my guess is she didn't even get there yet and the food was on the table...My full rack looked like it had a dry layer of sauce & was reheated, definitely not like the years before...they were ok but not "to die for" like I remember. Horrible! Placed an order for pickup, showed up on time. My friends order was ready but wrong. I was told 5 minutes for fries but waited 25 before the manager made the excuse the computer was down, which I suppose controls the fries??? Every order coming out was checked by front lobby staff before leaving and their was a problem with every one while we waited. We ordered carryout barbeque chicken and pulled pork. I paid extra for white meat. The breasts looked like turkey breasts they were so big which made me wonder about hormones. Also they were not cooked through as well as they should have been. I hesitated giving this to my small grandkids. They didn't put ANY barbeque sauce in the packaging and no butter and sour cream for the baked potatoes. I paid a total of 87.29 for 3 chicken breast dinners and 1 pulled pork sandwich. Year after year this place is consistently outstanding! Our favourite bartender Pat even stops by our table to say Hi! YAY! She's the BEST! Great service, yummy apps, reasonably priced wine list (or great draft beers!) and mouthwatering ribs means that you will not be disappointed! Crab Cheese Toast is always a winner, dad loves the Onion loaf & the table yeast rolls are yummy and I always take some home! AND for you Buzztime Trivia players, it's in the Sports Bar. I was with my family so I didn't ditch em to go play a game. But the bar is a nice place with friendly regulars, well-priced brews, and of course one of the best bartenders in OC & Fenwick -- PAT! Nick's Original House of Ribs has -- wait for it -- really good ribs. It's a big, busy, noisy place, so get there early if you want in quick. They have the capacity for substantial groups, too, but I think if you have a big crowd you'd want to get there *really* early. Now to the food. We started with Crab Cheese Toast and fried mozzarella for the rugrats. The crab toast was basically lumps o' crab on soft bread covered with cheddar cheese. It's actually pretty good, but will make your heart speed up noticeably upon consumption. We all had the rib and crab cake combo for dinner. Advice - skip the crab cake and stick with the ribs. The cake was average and not worth the premium on the entree price. The ribs, on the other hand, were excellent! Perfectly cooked, falling off the bone, gristle-less hunks of meaty goodness. The only detractor was the sauce -- it is pretty generic. Next time, I'd probably get the ribs dry & sauce on the side, just for more ratio control. Sides were adequate -- steak fries were big and properly cooked, coleslaw was good, and the baked beans were decent. Kids had the chicken fingers & fries, and one portion will easily feed two little ones. There had to be a half pound of chicken on the plate. Staff was very busy and not terribly attentive, but friendly and responsive when you managed to snag their notice. First and probably only visit that my family and I will make. I was not impressed with the food at all. I will say that my wife really enjoyed her food. We went there for my wife's birthday enroute to the Winterfest of Lights. I may attempt this place again during the summer to see if it's any better but I was not impressed. My meal: Full rack of "world famous" ribs, fries, cole slaw (my rating 1/5) First, the hot rolls were great and would become the staple of my meal. The ribs were "fall off the bone" as other reviewers have mentioned, but that is not the mark of a good rib. One bite and the entire rib falls apart. The meat was soft like it was boiled then grilled. The sauce was blah. Not sure how they are "world famous" because, honestly I didn't take the leftovers home to give my dog. The fries were okay - I'm not much of a fry person. The cole slaw was pretty good and I've never been much of a cole slaw person. Overall, I didn't think the meal was worth $23. My wife's meal: London Broil (medium-rare), fries, cole slaw (her rating 4/5) The single bite she allowed me to have was 100 times better than the ribs. She was very satisfied with her food and thought it was a great deal. My 2 son's shared meal (1 1/2 and 4 years old): Hamburger/fries kids meal (my rating 1/5) I'm aware it's a kids meal, but I was appalled that I spent $6.50 on an, obviously, frozen hamburger. My little taste of it was something else I'd rather never eat again. Read about this restaurant and decided we wanted to try a bunch of friends went down to the beach for a weekend was there Saturday, December 4, 2021 arrived at about 4:45 PM was seated by 4:50 waitress was over got our drink order brought our drinks back and then took her order there was six of us four of us ordered baked potatoes at about 5:15 to 5:30 A bus 53 people arrived when our order came out one of us two of us ordered Chesapeake chicken three of us ordered ribs and crabcakes and then one ordered barbecue chicken when they brought our meal out it was a runner not our waitress he started passing out our food when he put our plates in front of us they had an extra bowl of corn on our plates but no baked potatoes when I questioned as he said I'm sorry We ran out of baked potatoes you could wait 20 to 25 minutes for baked potatoes if you would like ma'am or you can have french fries so he brought us french fries not what we ordered but what we got the bus load that came in at 5:30 with the 53 people on it they got the baked potatoes not us and when I questioned the manager about it he said there was nothing he could do he could comp $3.50 for this baked potato this managers name was Richard Landman very rude and very obnoxious I have never in my life been talk to by a manager like that made a scene let me tell you our waitress came over and checked with us to see how our meal was and we asked her about the baked potatoes and she said that she wasn't even aware that we didn't get our baked potatoes this might sound petty but at the end of the day we didn't get the meal The way we ordered it and the manager didn't care so I'm writing this post for the group it's beautiful on the inside but the manager is a joke the waitress was very nice and she look like she was upset also if you're a party of six they've automatically put a 20% tip on your bill and then you give the waitress her tip and then you find out when you leave that you were charged the 20% I understand that the waitress needs to make a living but they should be upfront about that 20% anyway the food wasn't worth the money it was good but it still wasn't worth the money I hope if you go there you have a good meal and everything else comes out the way it supposed to never again will I go there also FYI I found a credit card on the floor so I went looking for the manager to hand it to him and he asked me what I wanted as rude as he could be all I was doing was trying to be a good Samaritan and give the credit card to the manager so it got back to its owner that his employee had dropped this place is not what it says it is again I will never go back read more

Nick's is way up there, 144th Street. When we started passing some stretches of condo buildings, the pace got a little slower, a little quieter. We headed in to the restaurant, kids in tow, and prepared ourselves for the worst trials of patience when we were told that the wait would be 25 minutes. Damn - why didn't I call for a reservation first?! Well, all of about 10 minutes later, our little buzzer thing rang, and off we went. A fortuitous sign! Food we ordered - I got some baby backs, and Hubby got some baby backs and a crabcake. Side dishes - I got the cole slaw and applesauce; Hubby, the baked potato and cole slaw. Our food arrived just about as quickly, which was a godsend considering Baby2 was testing testing testing his vocal microphone right up against my left ear. Most of the tables around us were of the older generation, and they were more than happy to entertain both Baby1 and Baby2 (many thanks!!). I held Baby2 while Hubby ate and fed Baby1, anticipating I'd need both hands to eat my ribs. How wrong I was. While I watched, Hubby basically cut his knife through the rib meat like a hot knife...well, you know the cliche. And so I found that I could hold Baby2 and eat at the same time (always a winner in a mom's book, especially with food not mashed between two slices of bread). The ribs were flavored with a thick sauce holding a little smoke, some sweetness and tang, and a slight kick. Cole slaw was a fresh cut cabbage/carrot mix, very lightly dressed and just a touch of tang and spice. Applesauce, I ordered primarily to give to Baby1, and it was just fine with a sprinkling of cinnamon on top. You can listen to me sing praises about these ribs all day long, but here's the real litmus test: Baby1 ate just about as many of my ribs as I did. It passed the Baby1 test (and mind you, one of her first foods was foie gras, so I know she's got a good palate!), and it's a winner in my book as well. The final act? The ribs are outstanding. The menu has something for everyone. The crab cakes are top notch. You taste the jumbo lump crab meat with just a hint of red pepper. The cooked to order steaks are superb. We went here on the last night of our vacation. We were seated promptly and the staff was very nice. As my son has food allergies they ensured all the food was safe for him to eat. I ordered the Ribs/Crab Cake plate. The crab cake was very good and the ribs were very tender and fell off the bone. The sides I got (Cole slaw and beans) both tasted excellent. We tried to quietly inform the waiter who shockingly said "mice are all over this area! They live in the dunes and come inside when the weather starts to change" obviously this was not an unusual situating for this restaurant. After another 20 minutes of watching this mouse dart around the dining room, we asked if the waiter could please send out someone to get it. He was annoyed and sent a kid with a broom and dust pan who looked around for no more than 3 minutes and gave up. A manager never came over, an 18%tip was added because we had 9 people, and no attempt was made to amend the situation. We will not be back!! read more

An unfortunate night at Nick's House of Ribs in Ocean City, MD. The appetizers were ordered and, despite apologies by the waitress, did not arrive for 20 minutes. When they finally arrived, the wrong appetizer was delivered. The waitresss apologized and said she would bring the correct appetizer out and left the wrong order on the table. Our entrees then arrived and one was incorrect. Back it went for correction and came back out correct. The bill arrived and the incorrect appetizer was still on it. When questioned, the waitress replied that she thought we wanted both the wrong app and the right one! Really?? She then proceeded to argue with us until pushed to remove the incorrect app. She did so, with attitude, and continued the attitude through the payment process. Favorite place to eat in Ocean City! Worth the drive! The parking lot isn't huge and they are often very busy, so would suggest getting there early or bring something to pass the time. They have tables outside but I believe it's more for people to wait rather than eat. They also recently have added a ping pong table outside. The steak and ribs are TO DIE FOR! The steak are always so tender and done to perfection. Was also happy to see this year that they increased the size of their drink glasses. Before they were small mason jars and now they are full glasses. Less waiting and work for the wait staff. Bread served before the meal is always warm and tasty! This is one of the few full service restaurants open in the off season and we were looking for a nice steak dinner. It's nice. The ambiance is very pleasant and the service is very attentive without being overbearing. The food is OK. Not great. OK. I had the New York Strip and the Missus had the Filet Mignon. They say that it's hard to fuck up ribs. I disagree. A lot of bad ribs can be had, but not at Nick's. Full rack, home fries and apple sauce is my go to order, however I most recently swapped the apple sauce for baked beans (Bush's, according to Charlie). The ribs call to me. I've compared to JR's, and Nick's wins hands down. Luckily, Nick's is open year round, and we've been there in the middle of Feb., and it's just as good as in the middle of Sept. or May. A little extra sauce makes the meal. Not too tangy, with a bit of spicy. I'd love to review the appetizers or deserts, but never tried any of them. Drinks are served in Mason jars, and no one takes themselves seriously, which makes the staff part of the appeal. Lines to get into this place are the norm during the season, so if you want no lines, be there by 5:30 on a weekend, or plan on waiting until after 8:30. Might still have to wait, but it won't be an hour. Pro-tip: If the entire table is getting ribs, the kitchen can turn the order around fast. We've gone from being seated to having ice tea & a plate of ribs in front of us in 3.5 minutes (the record so far) when there were 4 of us and all of us got a full rack. read more

Baby back ribs were really good ( needed a little more sauce tho)- chicken looked good but ddnt have enough room to eat more. I've been to this restaurant twice, once in 2018 and a again a couple days ago. Both times weren't great but the 2nd time was especially concerning. I ordered alcoholic drinks, appetizer, and an entrée. The drinks and app was fine but right before my steak came, I saw a mouse run across the dining room floor. I immediately told the waitress who seemed shocked and said she would let management know. My steak came and it looked fine but when I started to eat it it was extremely dry. No matter how much A1 sauce I try to dump on it it just tasted awful. The waitress was nice and she told me management was aware that they had mice (from the dunes) and an exterminator was coming out in a few days. After two bites of my dinner I could not eat anymore knowing that they knew they had a rodent problem. I paid my check and left without a fuss. But I would never go here again. Another lively OCMD place, this one near the Delaware border, proved a nice change from the seafood only joints this week. The 45 minute wait we were given was not nearly that long. Even better, Our server Marlene took care of us right away once we were seated. She was very attentive -- key when you have 2 kids in tow. Best parts of the meal: onion loaf appetizer, ribs, broccoli slaw and broiled crab cake. Yes, still could resist the crab. Fun to pull apart the sweet, fried onions from the block of goodness.
