Initially, we also considered Spring Fertility Center in SF due to many recommendations, but after our first visit with Dr. Joy Brotherton, we felt confident that MFC was the right place for us. Dr. Brotherton treated us as individuals, not just another case or a number for their statistics. She took the time to explain everything about IUI and IVF, enabling us to make informed decisions. Because I was running out of time, we decided to pursue IVF. Throughout the process, the entire team was incredibly supportive. Linda at the front desk, the administrative coordinator Maria (who handled all the insurance matters), and the nurses--Isabel, Ginger, Lia, Jennifer (and others)--were all so sweet and caring. I have very difficult veins to work with, and Isabel was always patient and approached it with a great sense of humor. I only interacted with Dr. Uzelac a few times, but he was kind and extremely knowledgeable. Dr. Brotherton was exceptional--she always responded to my emails in less than 24 hours, and she was always open to hear my suggestions on the treatment, it felt like a two way conversation, this rare to find when dealing with doctors. And the clinic answered my calls promptly 95% of the time with immediate and helpful responses. In a long and stressful process like IVF, that level of communication is invaluable. After two egg retrievals, I am now living my miracle--pregnant with my first child. My only suggestion for improvement would be regarding Prya, the first insurance coordinator I interacted with. Unfortunately, she was rude and made me feel like I was a burden. However, after I brought this to the clinic's attention, they reassigned my case to Maria, who was wonderful and handled everything perfectly. Overall, I am so thankful we chose MFC. The entire staff made this journey special and will always hold a special place in our hearts.

It's a 3 year fellowship. It turns out the ObGyn we saw, Dr Brotherton, didn't do a fellowship in reproductive endocrinology which makes it very misleading to work in an IVF clinic. We essentially paid a very high price to see a regular obgyn.

My interactions with Dr. Agard were positive; my concerns were primarily with the rest of the staff. I was instructed to go to a third-party vendor for blood work, while my husband, who is white, was able to have his blood work done on-site. This immediately made me feel as though we were being treated differently. That feeling was reinforced during a meeting with the marriage counselor. She was rude and unexpectedly asked whether we were prepared to raise a mixed-race child. In 2025, I was shocked that this would even be a topic of discussion in this setting. Combined with the consistently slow response times, we ultimately decided to seek care elsewhere and in the city. When we informed the practice of our decision, the response was simply, "Okay." No one asked for feedback or seemed interested in understanding our concerns. I cannot say with certainty why we had this experience, but as a person of color in a mixed-race marriage, I left feeling not safe, uncomfortable and unwelcome. If you are part of a mixed-race couple or from a minority background, I think it's important to be aware that your experience here may differ from others.

Dr. Fox is caring and kind and wants her patients to succeed. She is easy to talk to about seemingly difficult medical subjects, and will spend time to understand and get the care you need. I thought I was just getting acupuncture when I signed up, but what a pleasant surprise that she also has helped me manage a supplement routine to balance my hormones, as well as sold me equipment and videos for doing TENS and LED treatments at home. I know that when I eventually try to conceive, I will have Dr. Fox to thank for her detail-oriented treatment and listening to my every need. I have already had tremendous results since seeing her and now look forward to my appointments.

I knew that things didn't feel right in my body, and I had also recently broken my foot. I was stomping on a box and my foot just snapped. It should not have broken that easily, something was wrong. Susan listened to my symptoms, educated me on a lot, and suggested some amazing supplements. She was particularly alarmed about the break and suggested that I get a bone density scan. She was THE ONLY person who was concerned and wanted me to push further. My podiatrist and my primary brushed it off, and I had to fight to get the scan. Well, it turns out that I have osteoporosis! Thank you, Susan! This is a perfect example of how typical Western medicine can fall short, but a skilled and attentive alternative practitioner can make all the difference. Susan is incredibly gifted, kind, brilliantly smart, and truly a lifesaver. Thank you again, Susan!

Fertility Connections

I cannot say enough good things about Fertility Connections!…read more First of all, they are extremely responsive. I'd say 99% of our interaction with them was via email (my choice, it's my preferred method of communication). I would always receive a response from them within 1-2 hours (usually less) during regular business hours. Throughout the whole process, I would receive emails updating me on how my donor's doctor appointments went, what the next steps are, etc. On the day of my donor's retrieval, I actually received an update from Fertility Connections before I heard from my doctor's office on how the procedure went! Before we signed on with them, they gave us all the information (in writing!) we would need to help us make our decision. This included a list of all possible expenses and when they were due (you do not have to pay for everything immediately upon signing the contract - you pay for things in stages. This is great, in case something happens and the donor you've chosen doesn't work out.). We also appreciated that they provided a list of scenarios that described how much of a refund (if any) you were entitled to if something didn't work out with your donor (i.e. she failed the psych exam, failed the medical exam, donor breach of contract, etc.). Their contract is also written in simple English so you do not need a lawyer (unless you want one) to explain everything to you before signing it. They have a pretty good selection of donors, and even have a decent number of non-Caucasian donors. I love that they only work with local donors. Although this may limit their pool of donors, it allows them to meet and screen the donors in person. It also helps limit out of pocket and travel expenses that you need to reimburse when they go to your RE for all the various appointments. Their donor fees are also lower than a lot of the other agencies I looked at. The donor profiles they provide are very detailed. They even include a summary by a genetic counselor and the results from the donor's previous cycles (if they're a previous donor). Everything was handled in a timely manner. I did not have to wait days to hear back from them or receive information I had requested. In fact, less than a week after my embryo transfer, I received a reconciliation of my donor's out of pocket expenses and a check refunding the unused portion. Trying to find a donor and donor agency was very stressful, but once we decided on Fertility Connections and had picked our donor, it was all so easy. I never felt like I needed to stay on top of them or worried that something would fall between the cracks. In fact, this may have been my least stressful IVF cycle of all (after all, someone else had to take the fertility meds and go through retrieval this time!). I highly recommend Fertility Connections. While I hope to never need their services again, if it turns out I do, I would not hesitate to use them again.

In fact, I went in as a skeptic, but I found Shannon's approach to be powerful and grounded in deep truths. More insights were revealed to me in my couple of months with Shannon than I'd uncovered in the combined years of talk therapy that I've done in the past. I worked with Dr. Daniel for about 2.5 years as I was getting sick too often with colds and flus…read more Instead of improving my immune system, it got dramatically worse and my overall health and fitness degraded a lot. Dr. Daniel did a lot of pricy and questionable testing and put me on 41 pills a day of either supplements or prescription medicine. I developed a concerning medical condition I'd never had before that made me feel sicker than ever, requiring me to stop eating many foods, and made me so fatigued, all I could do was lie on the couch most days for months. It was miserable. I finally got fed up with her after the second time she raised her prices significantly during the pandemic and fired her. I had spent tens of thousands of dollars on her appointments, testing and supplements. I immediately went off of everything she had prescribed and felt so much better within two weeks. My health has been just fine since I stopped following her advice 18 months ago. She may have a lot of five-star Yelp reviews but read them closely - few mention good medical outcomes from working with Dr. Daniel. That's because she gives her patients a discount on supplements in exchange for Yelp reviews which they write at the beginning of their treatment before they have any outcomes. This practice is unethical and should be illegal. Note to Dr. Daniel: When you attempt to rebut my review, be sure not to violate HIPAA.

Excellent doctor; disappointing practice…read more First of all, Dr. Daniel is extraordinary: extremely well-informed, profound, compassionate, and caring. Working with her had an incredibly positive effect on my health and well-being and I feel so grateful to have had the opportunity to work with her, and get back to optimal health. However, there have been recent changes to the practice that feel de-humanizing. Today, in the midst of a pandemic, I tried to log in to ask a question or make a short appointment, and was told my account was "inactive" as I had not had an appointment in a year. I called to see if I could ask Dr. Daniel, a doctor I really trust, a question or make an appointment, and Jason/Jonathan called me to tell me that I was no longer a patient, and the practice was not accepting new patients. I told him I'd been a patient since 2015, and asked him how I could make an appointment, or ask Dr. Daniel a question, and he said I would need to go online and read about my options, that who knows if I could be seen again, but that I might be a "level 2" or "level 3. " When I asked him what that meant, he said I should go online. As a longtime patient, a mother, and a scientist, I felt hurt and disrespected by this de-humanizing interaction. It seemed that the rug had been swept out from under my feet - I was booted from the practice because I felt well and hadn't had an appointment in a year. These new policies, and the interaction with Jason/Jonathan were the exact opposite of my previous experience with Dr. Daniels (warm, humanizing, caring). He left me with no other option than to seek other care.
