Pasta meatballs
Nicole D.

We had a lovely Sunday dinner at Nicole's. Our table for four was nestled in the corner of the dining room with a large banquette. We did not have alcohol during the meal and I was happy the server offered a selection of Harneys tea. The complimentary bread butter and oil was a nice starter. The server brought one basket gluten and one gluten free. We also ordered jumbo shrimp coctail .The ceasar and house salads we ordered were all to our liking. My entree was a large carafe of housemade pasta and two giant meatballs. The dish was prepared well, al dente pasta and juicy meatballs. The photo is the takeaway dish which provided me another entitr meal. I would suggest sharing the pasta and meatballs.

Short Rib Ragu Served with caramelized onions, tomatoes, pappardelle pasta , and short ribs so tender that Melted in your mouth!

Wonderful ambience with a dining room in the back with fireplace!! Very cozy! The Linguine with little neck clams in a white wine fumé sauce was excellent! The short ribs fell off the bones in a rich red sauce, caramelized onions, tomatoes and Romano cheese! Excellent!!

Fried calamari

My wife and I arrived and were promptly seated. Our waiter came by to introduce himself and provided us with menus. We ordered the fried calamari as an appetizer. From the first bite to the last, the calamari were delectable. As an entree, my wife ordered the vegetarian platter - spaghetti squash, eggplant meatless meatballs, and Italian broccoli. My wife requested that the broccoli be separate so only the eggplant and squash came in the marinara. I ordered the veal parmigiana and spaghetti. Simply stated, both meals were excellent. As a desert, my wife and I split a fresh fruit crisp. We both ordered regular coffee. Cappuccino did not appear on the menu. Our coffee was, hot, bold, and very flavorful. The crisp was delicious. Takeaways 1. Make reservations 2. Parking is adequate 3. Very little room near the entrance door 4. Service is excellent 5. Excellent appetizer/entree portions to price 6. Saratoga or Pellegrino served in 16 or 32 oz. 7. Definitely $$$ but worth every penny I will be returning when in the area!

Went to Nicole's for a rehearsal dinner last night and it was excellent! Unfortunately didn't get many photos! I had the grilled salmon which was some of the best salmon I've ever had! Loved the dressing on the salmon. My fiancé had the chicken parmiagiana which was excellent as well. For dessert we had the cannolis which were excellent. It was such a great spot, intimate and cozy for this event. It would be a great date night or small party location. The servers and staff were amazing and incredibly kind. Such a great experience! We're from out of town but will suggest this to our family in the capital region!

Their most affordable bottle of wine.

When looking for a new place to have dinner, I stumbled across Nicole's. Upon walking in my first impression was that the restaurant has a very small but welcoming vibe to it. The dining room is tight but the decor and artwork are that of an excellent Italian restaurant that Billy Joel could sing about. The food fits the look. I got the crispy chicken and broccoli and Samantha got the short rib ragu. Both were excellent and large portions. I would absolutely go back to get either one again. In fact, immediately after trying our food we agreed that we would definitely be returning. Our waitress was friendly and gave good recommendations, but there were very long waits for everything. We planned on being there for an hour and ended up being there for two just due to the wait times. I will say that they were very apologetic and even though we didn't complain, they offered us free cannolis. This leads me to believe that the wait isn't typically so bad. Overall, I loved the place and plan on returning soon. I would definitely recommend it! P.S. Samantha did not get a lemonade so I can't comment on theirs.

We came here to celebrate our wedding anniversary as they were the catering company. The interior and service is still great. Our waiter did a great job being on top of getting us our food and drinks. However this time, the food wasn't quite as spot on as we've typically seen. I'm not sure if it was a bad night however the potatoes that came with my steak was so oily it was near inedible. I took a box home for the steak and left the potatoes behind. A bit disappointing, I'm hoping it was an off night for them.

I was promised that Grappa 72 would exceed my expectations. As an Italian-American AND a foodie, it's hard to wow me at an Italian venue. I can honestly say that this place was all that I was promised and more. What we ordered to share: crispy arancini (special app that day), eggplant parm, fried calamari. I am a red sauce snob, and all three of these delivered on presentation, quality, and overall flavor. Entrees we ordered included: halibut (entree special and my choice), pappardelle loaded with shrimp and chicken (also a special), pork osso bucco (stole the show!). We ended with individual desserts, and their Italian cheesecake was smooth and creamy. Service was reflective of high-end dining, yet the check for six people was moderate to affordable. Considering the quality, quantity, and overall experience, this is a place I need to get back to. Now I need to find an excuse to be in the Capitol Region so I can go back!

She had lots of recommendations for what drinks and dishes to order, and she was really attentive towards our party. When we sat at our table, we helped ourselves to the fresh table bread and tapenade while we decided what to order. I decided to get the seafood special, which was a grilled branzino served with blistered green beans and wild rice. While the dish tasted a bit too oily for my liking, there was LOTS of food that came with this dish - enough for me to pack as a lunch the next day! What was also memorable about this experience was the live music playing at front. This is a very nice Italian resto for special occasions and date nights.

To top it all off, the pistachio cake for dessert was the perfect finish. Overall, this place is truly top notch great food, great service, and a great experience all around. I was able to book a reservation online for the same day. Of note, when you have the option of Main Floor or First Floor & Bar, just realize the Main Floor is up a flight of stairs. I'm not sure if there is a separate entrance but my wife was on crutches and she managed to get up the first three into the restaurant from outside but I don't think dining on the main floor would have been an option for us. Our server, Mike, was awesome and full of energy and enthusiasm. He offered suggestions and answered questions about details of the dishes. We were pleasantly surprised with how many menu items were marked v - vegan and v* - can be prepared vegan. This is great for us because it's another place in Albany that we will be able to go out to dinner with friends and everyone will be able.to find something to enjoy. The fried Artichokes are a must if you're looking for a starter. We were eyeing up the Fennel salad or vegan Caesar salad but opted to move on to main entrees. On this night they were out of the Gnocchi Cacio-Pepe which personally, I am not a gnocchi fan to start and Mike told us they were substituting a buccatini pasta instead... this had my attention! I went for his suggestion and chose the Arrabbiata instead which was delicious. My wife enjoyed her Wild Mushroom and Asparagus Risotto. We skipped dessert for this evening but there were vegan Gelato and cookie options for dessert as well. From start to finish it was such an enjoyable experience in this cozy corner restaurant which offers outdoor dining in the summer in the heart of Albany. We will totally be back with friends for another delicious meal at Rosanna's, the hidden gem in downtown Albany!

The cuisine was Italian inspired, and heavy on vegan and gluten free option, which is a great find locally, if you're looking for that. We were sat upstairs and I enjoy the ambiance here. I will note that the chairs are uncomfortable, which does not make a cozy dining experience. The cocktail menu was really great, a lot of gin options which is right up my alley. I had the Corpse Reviver and a glass of wine, both were great. We started with the shrimp balls, which sounded intriguing. They ended up being delightful, almost like loose crab cakes. The flavors were great and I loved the pesto. For my entree, I opted for the lemon mushroom tagliatelle. The pasta was very fresh and chewy, loved that. I enjoyed the combination of lemon and mushroom on the dish, but there were so many different mushrooms of all different textures, that some bites were more enjoyable than others. The snapper puttanesca was gorgeous as well. Overall it was a good meal, but I might have liked it a little more before the change. Definitely a great option if you are looking for dietary restrictions.

We went to Delmonico's Italian Steakhouse last weekend with a party of 10. Our group meets up once a month and tries a new place each time. I had been here once before over the summer and had a great experience then. That time we were seated in one of the alcove style rooms. It is not fully private but it definitely feels like your own space, and it added a lot to the atmosphere. The food and service were excellent on that visit, and the birthday person in our group loved the theming of the room. This time we were supposed to be seated in the Sinatra room. After our reservation time passed, the hostess came over and explained they had made a mistake with the room booking and it was not available. They moved us to a large table in the main dining area and offered us four appetizers on the house to make up for it. That immediately smoothed things over, and no one in our group had any issues after that. Mistakes happen, it is how a place handles them that matters, and they handled this very well. The main dining area has a nice ambience, but it is a bit noisy compared to the alcove spaces. Food wise, we had a wide range, steaks, chicken, veal, and some gluten free options. Most of the group had alcoholic drinks, while a few of us stuck with soda and water. One friend said the cola he got at the bar while we waited was flat and he skipped it after that. I tried a soda at the table and mine was fine. He later had a lemon lime soda, not sure if it was 7Up or Starry, and had no complaints, so it is possible they changed out the CO2 in between. Service really stood out. It is not easy to manage a table of 10, but our waitress was outstanding and very friendly. We were served in a timely manner, and several people commented on both the portion sizes and the quality of the meals. A few in our group even said they felt the pricing was a bargain for what you get. Overall, we will definitely be back. Scheduling errors and things out of the staff's control happen anywhere, but many places either do not apologize or do nothing to fix it. Here, they did both, and their solution was more than generous. Kudos to them. 4 stars.

Then the food... 2 of us ordered filet mignon it came out burnt and over done it looked like a burnt hamburger very thin (not the way a medium and medium rare filet should be obviously) Who let that even leave the kitchen! The waitress noticed right away and sent them back - manager came over and said oh sorry it depends on who's in the kitchen - what? We were seated in the back of the main room which was cold (the A/C was cranking due to the heatwave outside), loud (from people, not music). The side room was lit more invitingly and I think I would want to be there. I heard Frank Sinatra on the radio when we walked in, but within 30 minutes the place was packed and it turned into a raucous environment. We started off with garden salads with their homemade tomato basil dressing. It sounded fantastic but I quickly discovered it was loaded... absolutely loaded... with red onions. My wife bravely ate hers and the pile of onions kept growing on the side of her plate. I couldn't eat mine because of them so they took it away. They offered to remake it sans onions but I decided to hold out for my entree. My wife thought it was overdressed, but for a chopped salad such as it was I think it was fine. My veal Marsala was excellent. Every restaurant does theirs differently and here it wasn't too sweet or too garlicky. The bread on the table was crustier than an old pirate which made it difficult to eat with the table oil dip provided. However, it was perfect for sopping up the veal's sauce. My wife had Chicken Sorrento and the portion was absolutely humungous with a slick cheese shield on the top. She felt bad that my portion of veal was much smaller in comparison, but I had the last laugh as I thought her dish was just average. It all came down to the red sauce: every place tastes different and here it tasted a bit more like stewed tomatoes. (FYI: no place makes it as good as my grandmother). I am glad I ordered a non-red sauce dish, though my side of penne with only light sauce (per my request) was decent. Their dessert menu was nice but uninspiring. That's okay, as we were mostly full. Prices were fair for a white table cloth Italian restaurant, though not inexpensive. That being said, I much prefer the place in Loudonville which has more interesting entrees and comparable prices.
