Hubs and I went to Caffe Italia for our one-year anniversary dinner. We had a reservation for 4:00 PM on April 21, 2025. We were seated promptly upon arrival. Caffe Italia opens at 4:00 so I think we could have gotten a table at 4 even without a reservation. We were seated in a cozy, semi-private nook of the restaurant. We were brought fresh bread and olive oil to munch on while we looked at the menu. Our waiter, William, was on his A-game the entire evening. His service was impeccable. William took our drink order and then gave us the specials for the appetizers. There were a few options he listed from memory. We ended up ordered the stuffed mushrooms. They were stuffed with lobster, crab, and cheese, all while simmered in a delicious pink sauce. (Pro tip: save some bread for dipping in the sauce) William then offered to tell us the specials for the entrees but we didn't need them since we had picked our entrees well in advance. Chicken parm for hubs; capellini a la Dugan for me. Both entrees came with a salad. We had 4 choices of salad dressings. I picked balsamic vinaigrette, hubs had the gorgonzola cheese. He definitely made the smarter choice. The balsamic was tasty but the gorgonzola was... well... it's cheese. The chicken parm was delicious - warm and gooey and cheesy with a side of ziti. It's hard to mess up chicken parm. The capellini a la Dugan was seafood perfection. Angel hair pasta in a garlic-butter white-wine sauce with fresh spinach and lobster. There are no words to describe how heavenly the dish was. William came to check in on us mid-meal. We were happily eating our food and William said "it's always a good sign when no one is talking." I told William that I haven't had pasta that delicious since I was in Italy. We were too full for dessert but it's not an anniversary dinner without something sweet so we split the ricotta cheesecake. It was airy and fluffy and wonderful with a side of fresh whipped cream. Who makes their own whipped cream? Caffe Italia does! I had asked people at work for dining recommendations for our anniversary and all 15 people I asked said Caffe Italia. The reasoning is clear. All in all, Caffe Italia was fine dining from start to finish.

Warm bread with olive oil infused with garlic and basil was delicious.

As much as I enjoyed Caffee Italia at its old location on Central Avenue in Albany, I love this newer version at Hamilton Square in Guilderland so much more. For one thing, it's much more spacious. Secondly, the decor is modern and lovely. And finally, the food is amazing, even better than I remember. There are some constants that should never change. The staff is welcoming as always. Darianna was the server who took my order. She was so friendly and helpful. Also, her memory is remarkable, because she was able to tell me about the long list of specials without a moments hesitation. She came back during the meal a few times to make sure I was doing okay and she was always gracious, never intrusive. I think that requires special people skills. Another person to warmly welcome the arriving dinner crowd was the hostess, Maria, who co-owns the restaurant with her siblings. It was a warm, Friday night. A perfect night to go out in the Capital District. The restaurant opened at 5pm. I got there at 5:45pm. There was still available seating and I didn't have a reservation. I picked one of the small tables with high seats. I asked for an ice coffee with Kahlua and whipped cream--not on the menu--but it looked wonderful and tasted even better. I started to eat a slice of warm bread when the food that I ordered began arriving. Don't forget to spread the bread with olive oil infused with garlic and fresh basil. It was a taste sensation. I ordered a super fresh salad and picked two of the specials. The Italian Wedding Soup was the best I've ever tasted. The order of mussels in red wine was generous in size but it was so delicious that I managed to finish all of it. What was also impressive was how well timed the entire meal was. No sooner did I finish one dish when the next was being brought out. It was explained to me that sort of timing is easier to pull off early in the evening before it gets crowded. By 7pm, more diners arrived and the place was hopping. The wait staff and bartenders greeted diners with warm smiles and never appeared to miss a beat. Would I like dessert? That's what Darianna asked me. I watched as plates of glorious desserts seemed to sail past me. They were ordered by the family at the next table. I couldn't manage dessert this time, but there's always next time. Caffe Italia has been open in Guilderland for less than a year. I'm glad I finally made it there. I had the best time and the visit exceeded all expectations.

The food was delicious and good portions, and my dirty martini was on point. Everybody was very friendly. My friend and I had a great time laughing and chatting and I think everybody was doing the same ting thing! It's cozy place.

The ambience, service and food were all excellent! They weren't busy when we went early during the week and we couldn't have asked for more personal and attentive service from all the staff. It was a birthday dinner, and they all gathered at the end to sing a really beautiful version of happy birthday to my husband. Outstanding!

I was so excited when I scored Friday night reservations. I've been wanting to try this place forever and unfortunately, I never got to try their original location. Upon arrival, we were seated in the back. I noticed right away how loud the restaurant was and did read that was an issue in previous reviews at their new location. The server greeted us with warm bread and an olive oil with tons of garlic in it - it was divine! I knew from the start I was going to order the Chicken Parm since it was my first visit because it's how I judge whether an Italian restaurant is good or not - whether they can master the classics. My boyfriend opted for the Chicken Luciana - chicken topped with proprosciutto, mozzarella, tomatoes and garlic. Both dishes were delicious! They knocked it out of the park and the side of pasta was great too. I'm looking forward to going back and trying more dishes and hopefully leaving room for dessert!

I can't believe I've never reviewed Caffe Italia. Caffe Italia is the staple of good Italian American in Albany. Small spot, you need reservations. It's intimate, can be a little loud due to the space, amazing service is guaranteed, and perfectly executed Italian american is the menu. I've been coming here as a celebratory dinner spot most of my life. I can say that no one ever leaves disappointed when I visit. I can't speak on a lot of items, because I am always going back for the Veal Louie. It is my idea of a perfect dish. I almost exclusively order veal when dining at Italian restaurants, I prefer cream sauces over tomato, and I'm a huge fan of seafood. This is my perfect meal. The Veal Louie is a dish of tender, melt in your mouth veal, topped with lobster and artichoke hearts, enveloped in a luxurious sherry cream sauce. Describing it alone has my mouth watering. It's the kind of meal where you close your eyes on that first bite because the flavors just blow you away. It's crave worthy on every level. I am convinced that you can't go wrong here on ordering anything, but take it from me, try the Veal Louie.

Loved this cozy Italian gem. Family owned and the service reflected that well. The Chicken Antica was like a very fancy chicken cordon bleu. The Veal Luciana was tender and unique. Both dishes came highly recommended and did not disappoint- the depth of flavor in the sauces was truly impressive. The icing on the lemon cake had a perfect balance of sweet to tart- it had me scraping the plate! Generous portions, home-y vibes, and a solid wine selection. I highly recommend this to anyone who loves Italian!

I was promised that Grappa 72 would exceed my expectations. As an Italian-American AND a foodie, it's hard to wow me at an Italian venue. I can honestly say that this place was all that I was promised and more. What we ordered to share: crispy arancini (special app that day), eggplant parm, fried calamari. I am a red sauce snob, and all three of these delivered on presentation, quality, and overall flavor. Entrees we ordered included: halibut (entree special and my choice), pappardelle loaded with shrimp and chicken (also a special), pork osso bucco (stole the show!). We ended with individual desserts, and their Italian cheesecake was smooth and creamy. Service was reflective of high-end dining, yet the check for six people was moderate to affordable. Considering the quality, quantity, and overall experience, this is a place I need to get back to. Now I need to find an excuse to be in the Capitol Region so I can go back!

She had lots of recommendations for what drinks and dishes to order, and she was really attentive towards our party. When we sat at our table, we helped ourselves to the fresh table bread and tapenade while we decided what to order. I decided to get the seafood special, which was a grilled branzino served with blistered green beans and wild rice. While the dish tasted a bit too oily for my liking, there was LOTS of food that came with this dish - enough for me to pack as a lunch the next day! What was also memorable about this experience was the live music playing at front. This is a very nice Italian resto for special occasions and date nights.

We sat outside in the Tuscan garden. The bathrooms didn't have paper products , or anything to dry your hands with. Upon arrival the waiter introduced himself & told us that he was tired & this was his 2nd shift.( that should have been a heads up on the way things were headed) The service is usually on point at Cafe Capriccio. Our water glasses were never filled , our order & drinks took over 30 minutes to arrive . The waiter never not once checked on us to see how we were doing , if we needed anything. The food was not up to par tonight either . There was 1 chunk of bread between 2 people. The appetizer was meager & not as generous as usual. The dinner presentation was not pleasant. The taste was not much better the trout was not hot & on the dry side. The chickpeas left much to be desired. With the increased prices to dine out , service and food quality should be reflected in the cost. Before leaving I told the waiter of our disappointment with the service and our meal. He proceeded to say that he was sorry , this was his 2nd shift. I told him that was not an excuse. If this was our first time at Cafe Capriccio, it would most likely be the last . So sad to see the quality go down in such a beautiful high end restaurant.

Rosanna's is firmly in the second category -- and after an exceptional dinner that left both of us completely satisfied and already planning our return visit, I cannot recommend this place highly enough. From the moment we walked in, the ambience set the tone for the entire evening. Warm, inviting and thoughtfully designed, Rosanna's strikes that rare balance between intimate and lively -- the kind of space that feels equally suited for a romantic dinner for two or a celebratory night out with people you love. The lighting is soft without being dim, the energy is buzzing without being overwhelming, and every detail of the room communicates that this is a place that genuinely cares about the experience it creates for its guests. The service matched the atmosphere perfectly. Our server was attentive, knowledgeable and genuinely enthusiastic about the menu -- not in a rehearsed, corporate way but in the way that only happens when staff actually love where they work and believe in what they're serving. Questions were answered with confidence and warmth, dietary considerations were handled graciously and without any fuss, and the pacing of the meal felt exactly right. Not rushed, not forgotten -- just perfectly timed. It is the kind of service that makes you feel like a valued guest rather than just another table to turn over. Now the food -- where do we even begin. We started with the Shrimp Balls and they were an immediate knockout. Perfectly seasoned, beautifully presented and gone far too quickly. The arugula dip alongside them was bright and fresh -- a genuinely clever pairing that elevated what could have been a simple appetizer into something memorable. This dish alone would be worth coming back for. For mains we ordered the Wild Mushroom Risotto -- elevated with a grilled shrimp skewer addition that turned an already outstanding dish into a complete and deeply satisfying meal. The risotto was everything a great risotto should be -- creamy without being heavy, deeply savory with layers of earthy mushroom flavor, finished beautifully with truffled pecorino that added just the right amount of richness. The shrimp skewer on top was perfectly grilled, plump and fresh -- a brilliant pairing with the earthiness of the mushrooms. Our dining companion ordered the Boneless Beef Short Ribs which arrived tender, deeply flavorful and beautifully plated -- the kind of dish that makes you close your eyes on the first bite. What makes Rosanna's truly special is that everything works together -- the room, the service, the food and the overall feeling of being genuinely well taken care of. This is not a restaurant that relies on one strong element to carry the others. Every component earns its place. Whether you are celebrating something special, treating someone you love or simply in search of a great dinner in wonderful company -- Rosanna's delivers on every level. Do yourself a favor and make a reservation. You will not regret it. And the pellegrino soda was great I got the blood orange! And we took the olive oil orange cake to go yum!

The cuisine was Italian inspired, and heavy on vegan and gluten free option, which is a great find locally, if you're looking for that. We were sat upstairs and I enjoy the ambiance here. I will note that the chairs are uncomfortable, which does not make a cozy dining experience. The cocktail menu was really great, a lot of gin options which is right up my alley. I had the Corpse Reviver and a glass of wine, both were great. We started with the shrimp balls, which sounded intriguing. They ended up being delightful, almost like loose crab cakes. The flavors were great and I loved the pesto. For my entree, I opted for the lemon mushroom tagliatelle. The pasta was very fresh and chewy, loved that. I enjoyed the combination of lemon and mushroom on the dish, but there were so many different mushrooms of all different textures, that some bites were more enjoyable than others. The snapper puttanesca was gorgeous as well. Overall it was a good meal, but I might have liked it a little more before the change. Definitely a great option if you are looking for dietary restrictions.

We went to Delmonico's Italian Steakhouse last weekend with a party of 10. Our group meets up once a month and tries a new place each time. I had been here once before over the summer and had a great experience then. That time we were seated in one of the alcove style rooms. It is not fully private but it definitely feels like your own space, and it added a lot to the atmosphere. The food and service were excellent on that visit, and the birthday person in our group loved the theming of the room. This time we were supposed to be seated in the Sinatra room. After our reservation time passed, the hostess came over and explained they had made a mistake with the room booking and it was not available. They moved us to a large table in the main dining area and offered us four appetizers on the house to make up for it. That immediately smoothed things over, and no one in our group had any issues after that. Mistakes happen, it is how a place handles them that matters, and they handled this very well. The main dining area has a nice ambience, but it is a bit noisy compared to the alcove spaces. Food wise, we had a wide range, steaks, chicken, veal, and some gluten free options. Most of the group had alcoholic drinks, while a few of us stuck with soda and water. One friend said the cola he got at the bar while we waited was flat and he skipped it after that. I tried a soda at the table and mine was fine. He later had a lemon lime soda, not sure if it was 7Up or Starry, and had no complaints, so it is possible they changed out the CO2 in between. Service really stood out. It is not easy to manage a table of 10, but our waitress was outstanding and very friendly. We were served in a timely manner, and several people commented on both the portion sizes and the quality of the meals. A few in our group even said they felt the pricing was a bargain for what you get. Overall, we will definitely be back. Scheduling errors and things out of the staff's control happen anywhere, but many places either do not apologize or do nothing to fix it. Here, they did both, and their solution was more than generous. Kudos to them. 4 stars.

We went on a Friday night and dinner and this was one of the few places we could get into with less than a two hour wait. Parking lot was packed but most people that were waiting had ordered Take out. We were seated right away which was great. This by far was one of the worst meals we have had at Ralph's though the turkey sandwich looked good, tasted good, and was loaded with Gravy. The pasta was disgusting overcooked with watery and sweet sauce. Though what made it so bad was all the oregano in sauce which overpowered the dish. Tied for worst dish of the night was the potato skins. Skins were small, cold with very little bacon bits. And like pasta the same heavy headed chief put tons of Cheese Whiz on skins. I don't care for cheese whiz and in all the years I have ordered skins this is a first that cheese whiz was used rather than shredded cheddar cheese. The cheese spread was globby, overpowering definitely not good. To add insult to injury the skins were not cheap and sour cream which normal comes with skins was extra. At the end of the day skins were more than the Turkey sandwich. Should have stuck with family favorites as the skins and pasta were not it. While we were seated right away we had to wait awhile for server to take our order and for food. Think they must have been understaffed as server was running like crazy but did not see her until end of meal. Ambiance- It was noisy in the beginning but as the lunch crowd left it was quieter. You could carry on a conversation easily with six or more people.

My wife ordered Veal Parmesan with a side of spaghetti while I went with the prime rib sandwich. I managed to finish my meal, but the serving was so large that she had to take hers home in a box. The hostess was kind enough to seat us at a table so I could have my back to a wall saying only that we need to be out of there in 90 minutes because it was reserved. We sat down ate , paid our bill and left in almost exactly an hour. Olive Garden could learn a thing or two from this place as the food was nice and hot and neither the hostess nor the waitress ever argued with me, even Lanie herself, stopped by to check on us. It was nice to see her as it's been quite a few years since I've been in there. How about that? I actually sat down and had a meal at a restaurant with no complaints. With a decaf iced tea for my wife and a glass of ice water with lemon for me the bill came to $80 and change, because everyone was so nice and accommodating I put a $100 bill on the table and left, we will return.

No reservation, and a smaller restaurant we tried on a whim and were offered two seats at the bar promptly and decided to stick around. Immediately upon entering Nicole's, the atmosphere takes you to a small Italian restaurant scene depicted in many a movie. Dimly lit, but not dark, fragrances of perfume overpowered by garlic, tomato, and all the fresh seasonings and herbs in their dishes, and many many happy customers with big plates of pasta, bread, and red wine on the table. After receiving our app of fried artichokes, which came with a wonderful dipping sauce, and a side order of meatballs that melted in our mouths, but were not soft, or squishy we decided we did only needed one meal after a long day of travel. One of my go-tos when trying a new to me Italian spot is always the clam sauce, and this one hit it out of the park. I highly recommend Nicole's, and looking forward to returning again in August for my next visit to the area.

Highly recommend starting with the short rib and burrata flatbread. The pear martini is a very refreshing sipper cocktail. For my entree I had the chicken Marsala which was prepared wonderfully, great balance of sauce and mushrooms over the chicken and pasta. Enough to bring some home without being a huge portion for no reason. Highly recommend a visit here!
