I felt very welcomed, despite never having been here before and not being a "local." Volume: Comfortable. Groups of folks out for breakfast, chatting, laughing, having a good time. Guys eating alone at the counter. Decor: Historic photos on walls of De Pere train depot this replaced 8 years ago in a building which on the outside truly looks like a restored train depot. The west parking lot straddles two sets of train tracks, one of which you cross to get to the restaurant. Long counter seats about 20, lots of 2 person and 4 person booths, a big ("capacity 48" per the sign) room off to the side with tables. Big pastry case next to the cash register. Community newspaper shared at the counter. Service: Excellent. Middle aged moms and grandmas (at least at 0630 on a Saturday) who really care that you are getting a great meal. I found absolutely nothing "pressuring" about the waitress. Drinks: I had water. They have drip coffee. No espresso, but I think espresso would ruin the character of this place. Food: Based on previous Yelp reviews I ordered a single (they have single, double and triple portions) of the "Farmer's Feed" (scrambled eggs, green peppers, green onions, mushrooms, cheese, bacon, sausage, ham and hash browns), asking that they hold the meat. I was told they can hold the meat on M-F, but not on weekends. That being said, it was delicious, a wonderful medley, but even the single portion was huge (see my picture). I also ordered a side of American fries. The American fries were also delicious, thicker than most (1/4 to 1/2 inch thick), likely boiled or baked first then fried to perfection, just short of black, soooo good. Total: $7.15 Overall: Highly recommend. The hours are really good, as they open at 0530 Monday-Saturday. If you want to eat healthy here, get the oatmeal. That being said, even the American fries were not particularly greasy. Truly a slice of northeastern Wisconsin, absolutely nothing pretentious about this place. read more

So this place would have had 4 stars but I had to dock one for the poor waitress we had. She dropped the toast off my plate and it landed face down onto the table. Her reaction "it's still good". Haha I'm not one to make a scene for something like this so I let it go. In my opinion she would have said "I'm sorry, I'll be right back with new toast". Wish the menu was bigger or more exciting, but that would be my only complaint. Food was good, homemade, and priced very very fairly. As a matter of fact, I ordered 2 breakfasts and special coffee, and it came to only $18. I had to go with the special bacon s'more Belgium waffle, and get an omelet too. Every month they have a new specialty menu, but I found the breakfast to be pretty straight forward. I'm looking forward to trying their typical diner fare of roast beef or cheeseburger. Stopped here for breakfast on Christmas Eve day. The service was on point, our waitress had good timing and we never had to wait long for anything. I had the double farmer house special breakfast, it was more hash browns than eggs, the opposite of what I expected but it was very good, though I felt it needed a bit of hot sauce for flavor. The quantities for the price are fair. I'll be checking this place out again to try some of the delicious looking pies in the counter! read more

This is the second time I have been here and it doesn't disappoint. We went the day after game day which was slower so we didn't have to wait. I had the homemade corn beef hash and might be the best I have ever had. All the staff we encountered were all very friendly. Definitely need to stop if you like corn beef. read more

Had one of the best breakfasts that I can remember. We were in town for a golf outing and stumbled upon this place. Our group of six came in and in spite of not having reservations we were quickly accommodated. We found out that many groups come in and most of the restaurant is reserved for breakfast. I can understand why. The food is amazing, especially the omelettes. I had the vegetable one, which had the most perfectly cooked asparagus and Swiss cheese, my friend had the brisquit omelette which he raved about and my husband had the ham and cheese which he liked a lot. Quantity of food is huge. We all had more than we could eat. The bread is amazing and strawberry jam, I am sure is homemade and out of this world. Waitstaff is attentive, fast and Johnny on the spot with the great tasting coffee! Prices were unbelievable! read more

I wanted pancakes in the worst way and this place has pancakes so we stopped in. I ordered the house special which was pancakes, eggs and a choice of meat (sausage patty for me). The wait staff was super on top of things with seating us and ordering quickly. The food came out fast for how busy they were as well. The pancakes I picked were chocolate chip. I liked them a lot with the warm maple syrup we were served. The sausage patties were nothing special they were cooked correctly. The eggs were disgusting. That is the reason for a lack of a star. They looked like they tried to scramble them but what I was served was like a thick skin of eggs. Not eatable I pushed them ahead and focused on my mound of pancakes. Serving sizes are huge and prices are decent. Parking can be difficult to locate depending on when you go. I would say overall a decent breakfast joint. read more

A lot is changing it seems, we sat the bar area and there was water dripping from the ceiling tiles and they looked dark like mold. There is a cook in the back literally SCREAMING every order that comes through. It is extremely aggravating when you are just trying to have breakfast on a Sunday morning. I order the same eggs benedict every time and it's pretty inconsistent. It's usually cold and the egg is over cooked but it's still the only thing I order. read more

My friend went to school at St. Norbert's, and insisted we went here before a Packers game. The place is enormous inside, and there are a lot of folks there on a Sunday morning. So many, in fact, that there was a bit of a wait. However, it was clear that the service was fast and friendly and that the patrons were a mix of dedicated locals as well as visitor like myself. My son, daughter, and I went to the nicolet restaurant for supper and it wasn't busy at all it took over an hour to get our food which all we ordered was burgers the staff was rude I don't know if they were having an off night or what but it was absolutely the worst experience I've had in a De Pere restaurant. The Bad: - Pressuring waitresses, not a relaxing environment if you're not a regular immediately ready to respond with the order that she already knows you're going to get. - "Seasonal Fruit Cup" in the middle of June was canned peaches and sliced banana. Have had many a breakfast here. Always good. Servers are friendly and efficient. Tonight we stopped in to try the fish fry. We do not recommend it. My baked fish was dry and overdone. Baked potato was barely cooked through. Walleye was edible, but portion was skimpy. Servers were friendly again and came back to check on us several times. I didn't like that the owner/hostess was nonchalant and didn't lead me to a table. He just kind of said it's over there and the waitress will see you. I get it now. This is like eating at what northerners call Nana's house. The coffee is good. The menu is perfect. A little bit of everything. We had a brisket omelette and a sausage omelette which both were standouts. Also. Berry crepes and pecan waffle which too were delicious. Here's the deal. The homemade toast steals the show. Why get any pancakes or crepes?. Just spread butter on these delicious cinnamon raisin thick slices of bread and call it done. This is why this place is packed. The service was outstanding the food even better. This is right up there with the pancake house in GB. They have a small lunch and dinner menu too. It closes at 8 pm. It used to be the Nicolet Cafe, a tiny little place, but they've recently built a brand new bigger space right by the railroad tracks. You can even watch the trains go by! This place has the best hashbrowns I have found so far. All of their breakfast food is excellent and I recommend the House Special. A couple of eggs, choice of meat, and pancakes or toast. I always get the strawberries pancakes. You have to order the hash browns on the side, but definitely worth it. Their dinner and lunch food is about average. This is one of those hole in the wall diners that are getting harder to come by. It's cheap with good food and great coffee. read more

This is the go-to breakfast joint for De Pere residents. French toast and pancakes and waffles oh my. Not Pancake Place, but good still. Nicolet comes into its own with the Farmer's Feast. It is the Especial De La Casa, and it uses high quality ham, sausage, veg, eggs, cheese and potato in a classic skillet meal. A triple portion of this with extra (DELICIOUS) wheat toast will feed 3 to complete satisfaction for under 15 bucks. And it isn't a carb fest even though there are potatoes in it. Nicolet also serves up some competent sandwiches. Burgers are beat by other local options. But you don't go there for that stuff. You go for the Farmer's Feast and strong coffee. That dish alone keeps people coming back. I implore the owners to please, NEVER cut back on the quality of the ingredients they're using. It's great. read more

Some seafood items like the fish sandwich consist of a pre made patti. Desserts looked tempting but I didn't have room to try any. Clean and nicely decorated with booths, tables, and counter service. I heard a lot of compliments for it before I first visited, so it was kinda disappointing comparing to what I expected. The place is usually very busy during the weekend for breakfast and lunch. I had to give up a few times because of the long waiting line. They are crowded with families and their kids. Four pieces of chicken, mashed potatoes, freshly cooked green beans, and a big thick slice of Texas toast style bread. Chicken had a nice thin breeding, mashed potatoes were smooth and had a flavorful gravy, the beans had an interesting lemon background, the thick and moist bread had butter on it making it tasty. I'm not super picky, was solid I thought for $7.99. Their regular coffee was a solid cup for restaurant coffee. Give the place a try. read more
