Great beers with a great atmosphere! We decided to make the drive out to Everett to check out the home brewery if Night Shift, which has some of our favorite beers. It was a really nice environment with an open inside and lovely outside. The inside had long tables and some games, as well as lots of space to stand around if you chose. The outside had picnic benches (some with umbrellas some not) and corn hole. People were hanging out in both. The staff were incredibly friendly and we loved going on a tour of the brewery, she was so funny and knowledgable! The only thing this place was missing was a permanent kitchen, as we would have loved to grab a bite to eat! read more

Regarding the ambiance of this place, I would say it is a cool vibe and the staff are pretty friendly and made me feel welcome. Cannot say this is my favorite bar in the area by any means and there others I would say to go to. I am a big fan of IPA's, Porters, and Stouts. I cannot say this place has a good IPA... sorry. I never imaged I'd have such a great time inside an isolated warehouse in an industrial part of Everett. Although a bit difficult to get to via pub trans (a not-too-scenic or short walk from Wellington Station), Night Shift awards your efforts. The space is large and beautifully designed with blue walls, barrel tables and owl details. The beers rotate often, so what's on offer will depend on your timing. Get a flight of four 4 oz. pours for $8! It's a great deal and allows you to sample about half of what's available. Pro tip: get two with a friend and really do your research! My flight faves were the pink peppercorn saison and the habanero rye ale. I've also tried the vanilla-tinged Trifecta on another occasion, and fell in love. 12 oz. pours will run you $6, so for my next round I got a full Viva Habanera, with a good complexity and just a bit of spicy kick. This paired great with the $10 lobster slider and fries with garlic aioli that the day's food truck was offering. Another perk: Night Shift is BYOF (where F is food... and probably friends as well). Bring your own chow in, order delivery from a local restaurant (there's a list on a chalkboard at the bar), or buy grub from one of the rotating food trucks stationed there on weekends. Lots of beer and plenty of space. Nightshift offers a lot of different types of beer. From traditional IPAs and Saisons, to some more experimental brews using ingredients as wacky as oysters. Some key factors make Nightshift a lot of fun. The general theme is flexibility. Beer flexibility: Lots of options regarding not only type of beer, but also how much you want to drink. You can get large 16 oz servings or small 4 oz pours or even a flight. Food flexibility: you can bring your own food, or order from the food trucks or popups hosted on site. On my last visit I had some tasty polish gnocchi and kielbasa. Seating flexibility: lots of indoor and outdoors space. Too hot or too cold? Sit indoors. Want to enjoy the sun or want to bring your pet? Sit outdoors. High chairs? Low chairs? Standing room? They got you covered. Went here for a private event by my school and got to try a good portion of their drink selection, which was pretty extensive. We each got flights and kept going back to try other beers. My favorite beer that night was the coffee flavored ones, specifically "Awake". We also got a tour of the brewery and got to see how they product and package the beers. Large, open brewery with an outside patio that is pet friendly. There are two bars where you can order the freshly brewed beer. Merchandise shop is located next to the bar on the left when you walk in. The place is kept clean and there was always someone walking around to pick up empty glasses. When I came on a Friday night, there was a food truck outside. There is a small free parking lot on the left of the building and street parking in front. I believe there is also another free lot down the street. Seating opened up shortly after we arrived, but there were several large parties standing around. If you're coming with a large group, be aware that you might not get a good spot together unless you arrive early. read more

I was excited to check out Night Shift because it was a pretty well known brewery and off the between path from large breweries like Sam Adams or Harpoon. We showed up on a slow afternoon and the staff seemed pretty preoccupied with talk amongst themselves. My wife, is not a beer drinker but she's put up with me going to breweries and usually they're a lot friendlier. The staff here were content to just cluster at the far end of the bar and just be on their phones. The beers here are okay. I liked their single hop IPA that was a stand out but the other ones were just okay. Their porter was pretty light and the sour was just okay. read more

What can I say? This is one of the best breweries I've been to and I've been to more than a couple. For one, it's HUGE! There's a large, dog friendly patio, and two full rooms with complete bars inside. They have tons of board games to play, picnic style seating, bar height tables, regular tables, and yet this place is still so popular there's standing room only at times. Their menu is amazingly thorough, constantly putting out and rotating the beers to keep it fresh and anything but boring. I always recommend flights and ask the bartender for the best selling or their favorite even. Get out of your comfort zone IPAs or Stouts and try something new! I used to HATE hoppy beers but I've found quite a few I like just from doing flights. Not to mention, I just like beer. There's plenty of parking including street, a connected parking lot, and a nearby gravel parking lot. They're serious about fire codes and max occupancy (it's a good thing people!) so my friend and I actually had to wait outside for about 20mins in a pretty long line. But it went pretty fast. Come early if you want to buy Beer To Go! I haven't done this yet but I've been told, heard, and Seen the long line for it! They have a lot of fun swag too. Oh, and as far as food goes, it's BYOF and Food Trucks typically on the weekend. Check ahead though to make sure! They've got TONS of events. My second check-in here was actually for a Yoga in the Taproom event. It's $10 and includes a Yoga class before they open every Sunday AND includes a Free beer! You absolutely can't beat that! We had a work event here in the party room off to the side. It was a fabulous space with its own set of restrooms, ample airflow from the retracting doors, and a good chunk of outdoor patio space also roped off for attendees. We easily fit 100 people into the space, and the staff were fantastic, even offering a brewery tour impromptu given our interest. You walk into a open atmosphere, you look on the wall to see all the sample of the beers they offer. With the uniqueness drawings of the flavors that offered was nice. The first time I went here was during the summer when they were having a food truck festival at the area. It was too busy at the time so my friends and I never actually tried their beer and bought a beer from a local beer brewing company that was offered on a truck instead. This time around we decided to go back. Of course still busy as usual, and people dressed in their flannel Friday outfits. Looked like many employee outings were happening here. The vibe was fun, upbeat. Laughters throughout the whole place. The bartenders were extremely helpful and quick to sever. They had many beer options and an option to do a flight. Which basically meant you had the option to pick 4 different beers and try them, they were given in a small 4 oz glass which equaled out to be about 16 oz of beer for $11! I normally get bored also I just like trying out new beers so I definitely went for this option. A lot of the options were IPAs which are usual on the stronger bitter end. I ended up getting Macbeth, whirlpool, 2straws and buzz. My personal favorites were Macbeth which is ale fermented in a white wine barrel giving it that light fruity taste. Buzz, another personal favorite is more like a sweet honey IPA. Many of the IPA options were crispy and fruity flavored. Summary: I definitely would go back, the lively seen and local brewed beers for the prices is a must! So many options to try and have been yet to be disappointed! You might consider the area questionable, but really that's only because Night Shift is nestled in a grungy industrial area. We were surprised by the sheer size of the the place -- large expansive outdoor area that wraps around almost the entire length of the brewery and two large seating areas inside. I loved the addition of the large projector screen in the area next to the tap room. Good entertainment for a potentially long stay. Most seating is designed for large groups too. Individual tasters not available, but they do give the option of purchasing a flight of four 4oz tasters for $10. Their sours are well known, but only one tart beer was available when we went so we opted for IPA. It should be noted that you can buy a 4 pack of cans at $14-16; a bit cheaper than Trillium. Beers were OK and I did like the *One Hop This Time: Simcoe* the most. Reminded me the West coast with that strong grassy bite and dry character. Not very crowded on a Sunday night, so we were very comfortable and in-and-out in no time. Nightshift has some respectable brews but out of the three other most noteworthy breweries we visited while in the Boston area (Trillium, Tree House, and Lamplighter), we were the least impressed by Night Shift's offerings. Walking into Night Shift Brewing I immediately felt like I was in a west coast brewery, maybe in the Bay Area or Portland. The crowd, the music, the noise, and the smell of delicious craft beer...it reminded me of home. Oh and the beers, they did not let me down either. Up until my visit to their brewery, I had only had whirlpool (which I bought from whole foods a few months back.) I enjoyed it, but having recently found myself in the land of juicy, hazy beers, it melted into the overall experience of trying the vast amount of local beers of New England. But since my partner and I had to do some suburban shopping in Everett, it only made sense to try out more of Night Shift's beers in person. The first two we tried, Gravitas (a triple IPA) and the 87 (a double IPA), both made our jaws drop. If you like NE-style IPAs, both will satisfy your cravings (twice or thrice over). The Gravitas in particular was excellent, and deadly, since I could easily have had a pint and then be instantly drunk. We followed up this round with a Santilli (pale) and Last right (a triple Belgian). While not quite as good as our first round, Santilli is a very drinkable pale and Last Right was perfectly spiced. Now, of course, when you start drinking beer (or at least, when I do), the mind starts wandering towards the idea of snacks. Night Shift doesn't have any themselves, but are very friendly about food being brought in (to the point where they offer suggestions for delivery on the wall as you walk in). There was also a food truck outside, though I didn't catch the name. All in all, I was very impressed with both the brewery and Night Shift's selection. I'll certainly head there again next time I'm craving an afternoon or evening of beers. read more

Great place for some fine uniquely crafted beers. I'm a big fan of the Bee Tea and Habanera so far. The Habanera leaves a slight spicy taste on your lips afterwards which I love. The place is very casual and there is a seating area in the back which was bench and table style. You are surrounded by barrels with descriptions on the ingredients and date of seal. You also get a view of their brewing area. Great place for casually hanging out. They don't serve food but there is regularly a food truck parked very close to the opening. Its the Dining Car both times I've been there. The only thing I gotten is the Korean Pork Slider which was around $5 and pretty good. They also have meatball subs which is very popular with the other customers. read more

Very nice atmosphere and the beers were good. I came here on a Saturday night for as part of a friend's birthday day. They were counting how many people would come in and only let people in when someone left, and I got to chatting with the host who said that it's a fire code thing which they are making sure they're following - definitely not a deal breaker and it's bodes well for the longevity of the place that they are following all the rules. We got lucky and had a whole seating section outside, it definitely looked like it was crowded. When I was getting my flight of beers, the bartender warned me that it was crowded so I probably should only get the flight if I already have a table. Great tip. The flight came in a baking tray (you know the ones with the molds to make muffins or whatever) which I thought was really cool and convenient. The beers themselves were delicious, I got a range of blonde ale to IPA to dark porter, and I was not disappointed in any. What a cool spot! I have only beer her once this past summer, but will be back for sure. We came on a Saturday evening and brought our dog! It was easy to find a table outside to sip on the beers and people watch. The beers were good and I even grabbed a 4-pack to take home. The food truck on site had run out of food by the time we wanted to order late, but I saw a ton of people who purchased good elsewhere and brought it in (which is allowed!) I have such a soft spot for Night Shift Brewing! We often come here for Monday night trivia (which is brilliantly structured to be "BYOF"... as in FOOD!). Their beer selection is often changing, such that I typically end up going with a beer flight, so that I can sample all of their latest varieties. Parking is a bit erratic, but we usually are able to find a makeshift spot (and haven't gotten towed to date!) to the left of the building. They brilliantly arrange to have a food truck set up just outside on Monday trivia nights, so that if your bring-your-own-food options end up leaving you wanting more sustenance, there are tasty snacks to be had just a few feet out the door. Seating can be limited on trivia nights, so we try to get here 20-30 minutes early. Our usual routine is to first stop by Kelly's Roast Beef nearby to get sandwiches and fries, and then come here to supplement our food with some seriously delicious beer. One cool feature of Night Shift Brewing is that they have a 'Barrel Society' where members get access to exclusive beers (yup, that's right... you literally can not order that menu item unless you are a member!). Unfortunately, it seems that Barrel Society membership is already sold out for 2017, which I suppose is a bummer if you were wanting to join - BUT, I'm encouraged to see that this place is getting the great support that it deserves! First time and if I wasn't an out of towner, I'd be here so much more! I really enjoy the atmosphere and the easy going attitude of the friendly staff. They have two areas that you can reside in... one more random and fun the other more modern and quiet it seems. The beer is great, people are great, and their local is a hop with an owl head what could be better? Night Shift was my second brewery experience in Boston, being here just for a long weekend. I loved the laid-back nature of the place and couples, families and friends were all here alike having fun on an early Saturday afternoon. As it was my first time I ordered a flight which was very reasonable in price and pour and I enjoyed most of what I was given quite a bit. Maybe it was a bad day but I have to dock a star for the somewhat ambivalent service from those we interacted with... the bar area wasn't even very busy but I felt a bit ignored and the bartenders didn't seem very excited to tell us about the beer or do anything other than give us the flight and charge us for it. It looked like there was a BBQ food truck outside that a lot of people were ordering from. We had separate food plans so unfortunately didn't try out that offering but this seems like a great place to come with a big group (there is a ton of open space and group seating) and kick it with some local grub. read more

The beer here is so, so good. I appreciate that there's a drink for everyone - IPAs, sours, wheat beers, etc. Highly recommend the Awake coffee porter and any of their fruit infused sours! Although I'm not a beer enthusiast yet, I feel like Night Shift can definitely get me there. Upon entering, I was pleasantly surprised by the cool and causal vibes of this brewery. It reminded me a lot of the ones we have back home in California which was nice. Since I'm still not entirely acquired to the taste of beer, I usually can't finish my own drink so I was so happy when I saw that they served beer in 4 oz glasses. I ended up getting two which I thoroughly enjoyed (Briar Weiss - a sour ale + Gentle Twist) I can't forget to mention how great the staff was here. They were really sweet in helping me decide on a beer and were just very friendly overall! Although it's a little far from where I live, I'd love to come back again soon. I am so happy I finally made my way to Night Shift Brewing. This brewery is a bit off the beaten path but so worth it when you find it. First, the space is huge! Most people haven't heard of Night Shift so you are expecting a small tap room with some kegs... Night Shift has two tap rooms, the brewing rooms in the back and a decent size out side space. They have corn hole outside, and if its raining are willing to set it up in the second more open tap room. Don't worry if you are hungry, they have a list of local places that delivery to the brewery plus rotating food trucks. We were lucky enough to get a private tour because no one wanted to join the 4:00 pm on a Friday which was totally OK with us. Our tour guide was great, very informative and allowed any questions to be asked. The beer itself is what sets Knight Shift apart from others. There was three of us so we did a flight of.. every beer they have on tap. Yes, every beer drinkers dream to try every beer on the menu. My favorite was actually the sour which I normally do not gravitate towards. The bartenders were very helpful in explaining the different styles and flavors they have in their beer. Literally no complaints on the beer, loved the sour and the experimental numbers they had on tap. If you are looking for merchandise, they have plenty to go around. I personally purchased a pint glass to add to my collection while my girlfriend opted for a shirt. Love this brewery and next time I am back in Boston, I might spend half a day here. read more

Night Shift is not in a convenient location for anyone who lives on the Boston side of the river, but boy, is it worth the drive. Quality beer, great selection, knowledgeable staff who love beer and love to help you find your beer soul-mate, and great open seating makes Night Shift a new favorite of mine on the MA brewery scene. Plenty of parking on the street, which is great considering its off-the-grid location. Great food from the food truck outside should you need a bite. Cool brewery. Very simple but really big. It is a bit far but if you're there stop by the trampoline. Pricing is great and you can do a flight of almost any beer! Giving them a 1 star rating due to misleading information on their website. They clearly state that infants and children are welcome on their website, and that one must be 21 to be served beer. We spent a lot of money on an Uber to go here with our 17-year old daughter, who is obviously not classified as an adult. We were turned away by the manager because they, apparently, don't allow teenagers there. There were tons of children, infants and a few dogs - but I guess they view well behaved teenagers who aren't drinking beer as some kind of risk. Again, wouldn't have had an issue with their policy had they been clear about it on their website so that we didn't waste our time and money. read more

Large space, lots of parking!, at least 12 different draft options, at least 5 can options and 1 bottle. Basically, you've got lots of options with this brewery. If you don't know what you like, get a flight. The boysen weiss was a delicious, tart, sour, freshly fruited beer aged in boysen berry barrels- so dank. Yeaaah! The good... Great hang-out spot. Indoor and outdoor seating, lots of beers to try (and not all IPA's like some others, lots of souvenirs, and the staff was helpful and nice, despite how slammed it was. I felt bad asking questions. Wish we could have stayed longer. Wish I had brought a bigger cooler for take-home beer. Wish I had a chance to try more of the "Tap Room Only" selections. There were some I didn't care for, and some where I had mixed reviews, but Night Shift is also a bit cheaper than some others. All in all it's a good deal though, and I'll gladly try whatever Night Shift offerings come my way. The bad... it was quite crowded, and parking was a royal pain. I loved my time at the Night Shift Brewery. It's a bit of a trek from downtown Boston, but definitely worth the highway I had to cross after getting off the T. I didn't take a tour or anything since I came pretty late, but I did enjoy sitting in their beer hall and sampling all of their beer. Beer is available in flights, four 4oz samples per flight. Flights are cheap at only $8, and they're very quick with the service. I had all them and found all of them to be worth drinking again. My favorite that night was the Whirlpool. They also have some light snacks, like tortilla chips with ghost pepper salsa and guacamole. But if you're looking for a heartier meal, there is usually a food truck parked outside.The beer hall is also loaded with games, like cornhole and Cards Against Humanity so you can hang out, drink, and play games. read more
