Delicious bagels. Being from NYC and Long Island I am always on the hunt for something matching those. This is in the same ballpark.

Love this place!! Night Work bread is one of my favorite stops in Ballston Spa! Everything they make is sourdough-based and you can really taste the difference. The bread is so good!! Great flavor and great texture; and, I appreciate that they use organic ingredients. I actually wouldn't eat there if they didn't. The bagels are honestly amazing. They are the only bagels I will eat because they are organic sourdough (it's the only non-gf I'll eat). They are crispy on the outside and soft and chewy on the inside, just how a bagel should be! Whenever I've ordered a bagel and cream cheese (which is more than a dozen times), they've always been very generous with the cream cheese, which I appreciate! They've also got more than just bread. They sell some local gifts and things: flowers, crocheted items, little crafts, chocolates, etc. Their cookies are soooooooo delicious. We always get at least one to enjoy after we eat our bagels. :-) There is a small sandwich menu (no hot items though - like no hot egg sandwiches, just egg salad). They also serve hot coffee! One tip: Go early. They often sell out of bagels and treats, especially on the weekends! It's just a really solid spot with really good food! Definitely worth checking out! I'm back once again, to try their sourdough bagels that they're known for. I've always liked their sourdough baguettes and bread so I was sure that their bagels would not disappoint. Their friendly staff bagged up my everything bagel, onion as well as sesame bagel. When I got them home, I was pleasantly surprised to see how sizable and well seasoned they happened to be. I've been buying their bread at Healthy Living for a while now--the seeded sourdough is amazing--so I was excited to visit their Ballston Spa location. The shop is so cute, and I thought the prices were very reasonable. We picked up a sticky bun, brioche rolls, bagels, a tahini cookie, and tomato focaccia. The sticky bun was absolutely out of this world. Their cookies are always a hit, and this was my first time trying the tahini cookie--loved it. Everything was fresh, well-made, and exactly what you hope for from a great sourdough bakery. Can't wait to go back! read more

Went in for a bagel after a long run at SPAC. Picked up some focaccia for lunch as well. The sourdough bagel is a bit chewy for my taste, but the toppings are well sourced and fresh. The foccacia was excellent and makes a really delicious sandwich, as its just the right size for two people. read more

We continue to try additional items from Night Work Bread and are very pleased. Today, as we were passing by we picked up some bagels and looked for my wife's favorite bead, Tart Cherry and Raisin Cinnamon Swirl. They did not have that bread, so we decided to try a loaf of Seeded Sourdough Sandwich Bread ($9). We also picked up, for the first time, some of their Bagels ($3 ea./ 4 for $10). We purchased two Sesame bagels and two Everything bagels. The first thing I noticed was that the bagels were not overly thick like some NYC bagels and even some local bagels. They were quite wide, however. These were good sized bagels that were likely to be better for making a sandwich since you wouldn't struggle to open your mouth wide enough to get a good bite. The second thing I realized was that each bagel was fully coated with its appropriate topping, and I do mean FULLY coated, on both its top AND bottom. The texture overall was a nice chewy experience with a harder crust and a softer crumb. The flavor of the sourdough seemed different than some of their breads, yet still very tasty. The Seeded Sourdough Sandwich Bread was another hit. It was available as either a rectangular or oval loaf. Topped with sesame, pepita, sunflower, and poppy seeds it had the nice sourdough flavor that Night Work is known for. I've tried their breads and I would rate it 8/10. The olive and focaccia are really good. But, here is where they lost me. I was excited about their version of muffuletta and at $17 for a sandwich, you expect something special. Absolutely not. For that price point, I should be getting a substantial amount of meat and not just the bread. The sandwich costs more than most of their bread! You are serving a community of hard workers who are supporting your small business when times are tough! Furthermore, a guy waited about 1/2 hr for a bagel with just cream cheese. With all the great breads around, ignore the social frenzy with " gut healthy" sourdough and skip this establishment. Obsessed with the Date-Cardamom loaf which is only available Weds, Thurs and Sat and is not transported to Farmers' markets. It hits a magical sweet/savory balance so it's equally good paired with butter and jam or rare roast beef and stinky cheese. Have tried the onion-olive, summer squash and artichoke-onion flatbreads and love them all. Fig walnut scone is coma-inducing. Less excited about olive bread (not enough olives and tartness for me) and farmer bread (too soft to slice for sandwiches) but your mileage may vary. Bottom line, this is a world class bakery on a side street in Ballston Spa. And you can get coffee and a loaded bagel if you care to munch and mingle. read more

Food was 5 Stars plus Service was 4 Stars Ambience for "eating in" is 4 Stars We wanted to try a new place, came for breakfast, and it was worth the 15-20 minute drive. Valentine's Day, 10:15 AM. However, I was disappointed that they do not serve decaf coffee. When we ordered, a staff member was training a new person. Both women were not welcoming or at least a little friendly. They were unpleasant even after we said it was our first time here. They may have been feeling stress. But no excuse accepted. This accounts for loss of one Star. My daughter ordered an onion bagel with cream cheese. It was outstanding because the bagel was not dense like other places. Toasted perfectly. The texture was pleasing to the bite, and the flavor was excellent. She also ordered a Sticky Bun which was decadent! Check out my photos. I read that the scones are amazing, especially the fig one. I ordered the BLT which was the best I have ever had. It was on their signature crusty sour dough bread and toasted just right. Yum. There are several varieties of bread to purchase by the loaf. They only use brioche rolls and sour dough bread for sandwiches. The quality lean bacon was so good I asked the pleasant person who made the BLT where it came from. I was told from a smokehouse in Vermont. She added that it is sold at Hannaford. The bacon portion was generous. The bacon sublime. I would have tried the Mushroon Soup but the sandwich filled me up. I thought about taking half home, but I ate it at the shop! There are a few tables across from the counter if you would like to eat in. A small vase of fresh flowers graced each table. But the draft from the entrance door was occasionally unpleasant since it was 19 degrees. While we ate, many customers came in to order or pick up. Predictably, the bread is fantastic. I got just a small slice of the sourdough that comes with the soup option, and it was delightful. The soup that day was a coconut chickpea kale concoction, which was perfectly fine, but if I had made it at home I would have definitely been reaching for lemon juice, garlic, sambal oelek, etc. just to punch up the flavors a bit. The drip coffee I would not get again here, though it was nice to see oat milk out with the other creamers. Service was a little strange, in that I was waiting in front of the cash register for many silent minutes as the employee behind the counter looked at a note on her phone and muttered to herself, but I'm assuming that she was new and just engrossed in whatever information she was reviewing. Off the charts sourdough bakery -- cinnamon roll was to die for and the lox bagel came with fresh vegetable fixings that were very enjoyable. Plus the team and owner are super nice! Cute, small spot with people executing 100%. Can't wait to visit again. read more

Amazing Sourdough in all products. Have had the Country loaves of bread several times, sesame and cinnamon raisin bagels as well as all cookies. Products are fresh and taste wonderful. Stock up on cookies and freeze extras for taking out when I need one. The scones are so good and have had the pastry bars they make, as well. Every product is worth the trip and they are at the Saratoga farmer's market also on Saturday in Wilton. Not sure if they are at Lincoln Baths on Sunday read more

Welcome to the real deal with all the makings of the best bread you ever tasted. Stop in for a sandwich, soup or salad but make sure you take a loaf or two home. The Fig and Walnut Scone was decadent. I enjoyed it at the Broadway Grind. They feature your marvelous sourdough items. I have traveled the world and I must say your Scone rated #1. Texture perfect! Fabulous surprise! Some friends and I were visiting a few local antique places and stopped at what we thought was a deli, for lunch. What we found was something different and turned out to be exceptional! There were soup choices, a beautiful bakery and bagel options on display, including a big plate of huge cookies. One of us had egg salad on a bagel and absolutely loved it. I had "Israeli toast" - a generous slab of toasted rye topped with hummus and a delicious mixture of chopped tomato, onion and cucumber mostly. It was so very fresh and delicious. It left me feeling satisfied and full with clean healthy genuine food, like a person was meant to feel after lunch! Friend no. 3 had coffee and a large cinnamon roll which he shared and I must say, it was perfection. Crispy, cinnamon-y, with just the right balance of sweetness, also a generous size for sharing. The bakery itself was very open, clean and bright with a good amount of activity going on in the kitchen area. The lady at the register was genuinely warm and friendly. Ice water was complimentary and readily available in a large carafe, as were the utensils which were of the compostable variety (bonus!). There was some cute bench seating available inside but they had some very nice umbrellas and picnic tables outside. We ate outside as it was a lovely day to do so. If you find yourself in Ballston Spa musing the antiques stores or the town, be sure to take a turn onto Science Street and check it out for yourself. I stumbled on this gem by chance. I've always liked sourdough but this is a whole new level. The cinnamon buns are incredible. The dough is soft and fresh with a slight tang from the sourdough. The cinnamon is warm and unctuous without being too sweet. The breads are best I've ever had. We had the olive bread, the seeded bread, the bagels and brioche. It's the kind of place that you want to visit often. I hear that people come to Ballston Spa from CT, MA, and VT to stand in line to get fresh goodies. Currently open Th-Sunday. Run, don't walk. Truly excellent bread. Being a truly artisan sourdough with a long ferment, the country sourdough bread keeps well in my breadbox a full week. The baguette we bought Saturday was still perfect on Tuesday night. The special flavors are incredible. I especially love the cardamom date loaf.
