First of all I have never posted a review on yelp before but downloaded the app just to post this review and warn people. This was the worst tailoring business I have ever been to. I dropped my dress off two weeks ago and I just received it yesterday, she never called me to pick it up, I just called her to see if she could alter something else that I had, and wanted to know how my dress was coming along. She asked me for my name, and then proceeded to tell me that she didn't even have my dress, and couldn't find my name. Then said oh my mistake, I found it. So I went straight to her shop, took one look at my dress and immediately saw stains on it. I pointed them out to her, and she said oh no that will come out I promise you, you go home and wash it. I told her that this dress can only be dry cleaned, and then she started to spray my dress with some solution and I asked her to please stop. I paid her, cause I felt like I had to, so I could leave with my dress. (Big mistake) after I left and started to inspect my dress further there was stitching coming out all over the place, and there was a snag in the sleeve with thread coming out, I cut the Lil thread so it wasn't as noticeable. But that's not even the biggest problem, the biggest problem is that she widened the Collar of the dress so wide that when I put it on, it just falls off. I'm so upset, she destroyed my dress beyond repair. When I called her to tell her all the things she did wrong, she told me to bring my dress back, so that she can undo all the stitching, and rip it all apart, and then she will give me my money back. If I could give this place zero stars I would. Please don't waste your time or your money, stay away from this place. This dress was to be worn in one week from today at my baby brothers wedding, this dress was very expensive, and I expressed that I was nervous, about having it altered. She advised me that her co worker who is a very big lady was gonna alter it cause she was very good, and worked out of her home cause she was to big to leave. I'm not really sure why she went into so much detail about her co workers weight, but maybe that's why my dress has grease marks on it. Bottom line, don't go here please I'm warning you, you will be so disappointed. read more

I used to live a mile away but having moved to Claremont, I am going to drive all the way to her shop because I know what I'm going to get from her. She will never tell me that she is too busy to look at something for me and she will get it done the way I want it. If it doesn't fit the way that I want, she will do it over until I am happy. I've actually told her that she doesn't charge enough. I found her after having another shop altered a pair of pants and made them unwearable. I needed them fixed as they belonged to a suit and I would have wasted hundreds of dollars. She fixed it and that alone was worth finding her. She is very busy so I wouldn't go to her needing something the next day. I drop my things off and tell her to take whatever time she needs and I'm pleased with the results. I came in here with a huge dress emergency with only 2 days to fix it. My dress was WAY TOO SMALL, got lost in the mail so arrived late, and I had to be in my friends wedding in 2 days. There was so much that had to be done to my dress and I went to another place who was unprepared and didn't have the material. I came to Nikki who took care of everything. She ended up putting a corset in my dress to make it like 2 sizes bigger! The bride was so happy with the way my dress looked, she told me she wished the rest of the bridesmaids dresses looked like mine!! Very happy with this tailor. I bought my engagement dress from Nordstroms and it was loose through the bust and shoulders. My engagement shoot was scheduled 4 days from when I received the dress. The owner was able to have my dress altered on a deadline. The dress fit perfectly, I was very impressed. She had to take it in from the shoulders instead of the sides. Cuc has altered a dress shirt, two pants, and a casual button up for me on three separate occasions this past year. Every single time my clothes have come out looking fantastic. I brought in a shirt that needed to be hemmed and I needed it done in two days. Despite her having a busy week, she managed to come through for me. And the best part is that her prices are low. She's aware of what other tailors charge and she will beat them every time. I sometimes feel bad for how little I'm paying but I try to make it up by tipping her well. Mrs. Cuc is the best! I've brought in a bridesmaid's dress, and a few other dresses (chiffon, silk, satin materials) and some jeans and her work was amazing. The bridesmaid's dress fit me so well, and I wasn't pulling the dress up all night long. My other party/formal dresses were tailored very well despite it being a lot of work because all the dresses had linings inside. I couldn't even see where she took the dresses in! Now as for prices, getting jeans hemmed range around $6-10. My dress alterations also ranged from $25-50. Although she is super busy, she has a good turn around time; sometimes as short as a day and a half! (Please do give her a lil' extra $ if you ask to have it rushed) I live in LA, but whenever I'm in SD, I'm always bringing clothes to be tailored by her. She's the best! read more

I've been going to her for a couple of years now. She does excellent quality service, and what a very friendly lady, too! Just the other day I dropped off a couple pairs of jeans. Cuc was busy working on a fluffy pink robe. She said the customer asked her to shorten the robe and if he could pick it up that same day as it was a birthday present for his granddaughter. I love that she was honest in letting me know that i shouldnt have a sweater tailored and (since I have amateur sewing skills) she showed me what i could do at home to shorten it. Great and honest! Also, i asked for my husbands vest to be ready the following week and the rest whenever she had the chance but she had all 3 pieces ready early!!! $20 for each of my two my ladies suit jackets to be taken in and $15 for hubbys vest. I absolutely love Nikki! I came in a couple of weeks ago with two pencil skirts. She did fabulous work and I was very impressed, especially since one of my skirts had both interior lining and a exterior pattern. It's a small shop in between a salon and an auto shop. Thankfully her shop has large lettering and is easy to spot from the street (seeing a picture of what it looked like before I left helped too). She's a very sweet lady and also has some shoes of varying heights just incase you forget to bring proper shoes for your garment (like me). she charged me $12 for one of my skirts and 15$ for the other one because of the lining and the pattern. She told me she usually charges about $7 for a pant hem. Again, she's a really sweet lady. I took Lee's advice and went to Nikki's after having two items ruined by another tailor. Turns out, the woman is amazing! Her name isn't really Nikki, it's Cuc. She bought the place four years ago from the "real" Nikki and never changed the name of the place. I found this out through casual conversation, b/c she spent 10 minutes reassuring me of her experience. (As I was having some expensive items altered, I wanted to make sure she knew exactly what I was expecting, especially after the horrible experience I'd had with the last tailor.) She completed alterations on six different items by the very next day, and each piece was done perfectly. She even hand stitched a few of my more delicate items b/c she was afraid the sewing machine would sag them. I have already brought her another stack of items in need of mending/alterations. Nikki is constantly (no exageration) re-doing work. making most cone back at least twice. what a waste of my time!! One man had his jeans shortened quite a bit but not cut at all. That made for a strange bulge between the ankle and knee. But I saw her ripping out the hem to re-do it. Cut off some length so the hem lays flat. So, on two occasions I witnessed her being asked by men to re-do her work on hemming their pants. Twice. That's significant... I asked her to do trickier work and she did it well. read more
