It fit perfectly and she even went out of her way to find the perfect lace to match, bringing great value to my wedding dress. I came in here Ivee the holidays with about 15 items that needed various things done. She was nice , but difficult to communicate. I carefully showed her each item, took our time, not in any hurry. Also, I wanted to be sure she charged me for everything and wrote down each repair. She just said she'd remember. I told her I'd be back in a week , but 2 days later she's grinding on me to come get the clothes. Fine, I went and got them. I didn't take the time to check everything because she was nice enough and I knew she would make good on any issues. I found two things that weren't done at all, and a few with thee wrong work done. But it was New years and they were closed. Finally I'm back in town 3 weeks later so I go back in to get them fixed. The lady I dealt with is gone and the one at the counter speaks zero English and I can't communicate anything. She calls a man, who does speak English to whom I explain it all and he was very nice, understood, and said he'd fix them. I thanked him. I shared that I was as careful as I could be about paying for it all when I dropped them off and picked them up. He seemed to understand what the woman I had dealt with was like. So 30 minutes ago I get a call from yet another woman who accused me of trying to get something for free. She was going to do me a favor and fix what I left her, but that I wasn't owed this. I went there and paid for it again and she accused me of taking advantage of them. Then she tried to charge me 5$ for a hanger I'd asked about. You know, the alterations really weren't that great. The button was too small for the hole in one case. I gave her the correct buttons for every one needed sewing and she just mixed them all up. The cuffs are already coming apart If this work was excellent, it would be one thing but it's just average to fair. With the nearly impossible communication and the ridiculously stingy approach by the owner and so-so work, I'd go somewhere else. I spent close to $110 on alterations and cleaning and this woman is screeching at me about free work I never asked for. I'm sorry I ever walked into this place. I should be annoyed for having to come back and pay for the same work twice This next part is in response to the owners comments that I should check before I left the store. She is more concerned about accusing me of ripping her off than apologizing for the whole thing. First, I wasn't in a hurry to begin with when I dropped them off, so she shouldn't have done them in a hurry and harass me to get them before I wanted to. She called me 3 times that day to get me to come get them. Second, if I had the time that day, I'd have gone through and found the problem then, and I'd have left those two pants there and made yet another trip, a week later as I originally asked. So, Paulin, what would have been better about that? I still have to make two trips. So, all of you possible customers of her, you can see how stingy she is. She can't even sincerely apologize for wasting my time because she's more upset about not getting any money today because she did work she was supposed to do a month ago. And, I paid her anyway just to end the whole thing because she was screeching at me about how she gave me free work which, not only didn't I ask for it, insisted we got the charges correct at dropoff. And shes so stingy that she tried to charge me $5 for a hanger I didn't take. I brought in the pants on a suit hanger, I noticed she had others so I asked the person on the phone earlier how much she wanted for one. I declined the ridiculously high $5 price for a used hanger. But she got all excited about 5$ and convinced herself I took one. She doesn't even know how many she has What a stingy, cranky, screechy little miser. Go somewhere else. I spent more that $125 in alterations and a little dry cleaning and she's grinding on me for a hanger I didn't take and alterations alterations I paid for long ago. It's really ridiculous. Pauline is a gifted seamstress. She made my dream wedding dress from bits and pieces of pictures ive shown her as design, and at a lesser cost. While i did buy the pleated skirt, she patiently guided me in buying the right lace (since i knew squat about laces haha) and made the top part in just a few days, and even during the holidays (as the wedding was a few days after new year) and was always quick to reassure when i worried it wont be completed in time. Fact is, i only got the dress the morning of my departure for our out- of-town elopement and it was perfectly hemmed and fitted to me. Way before the wedding though, i already have a huge trust in her since she's made ridiculous alterations to multiple dresses ive bought over the yrs, with a few dresses being expensive. (im an online-only shopper who can be lazy returning purchases hehe). Most recently, ive asked her to add a tulle sleeve for a Marchesa gown (i have chubby arms lol), widened a Bronx and Banco dress (since i refuse to diet lol), and adjusted the torso+shortened the hem of a lacy Badgley Mischka dress- all without looking like they were altered. i also bring all my dry cleanings to her (mostly coats,,, and pretty much whatever clothing i buy online that im not sure how to launder haha) and think her price is competitive. her business/services is truly a wonder! read more

Mrs. Best, really IS the BEST! I took 8 pairs of jeans to her to shorten and take in when I lost weight, and they looked amazing. She tailored them perfectly to my body, with enough give at all the right spots. She kept the original hem on my jeans for NO EXTRA CHARGE, because I also had them taken in and cleaned. I think the total damage was just over 100 bucks, and I only waited 3 days. I also take all my dry cleaning here and my suits are never faded. Her pressing lasts for weeks too, so my slacks can wait longer than average to be cleaned again. This woman does EVERYTHING! I stopped in once because a button broke on my jeans, and she quickly removed and replaced it, and told me don't worry about paying her, just keep coming back. How cool! Now that my wedding is coming up, I will definitely be taking my dress to her for the alterations. She is so flawless, and her prices start at only $25 to take in the waist. Other places want to try and charge a minimum of $75 and up depending on beads, fabric etc. If there are any clothes in your closet that you think would be so cool if they just fit a little better, you should take them to her and watch her work her magic. She just has you try them on and the pinpoints all the little places where it needs improvement, and within a couple days its like new. I was referred to Pauline for my wedding dress alterations, by a family member, and I'll be using her in the future for anything I need done, as far as alterations and dry cleaning go. I really didn't need much for the alterations since my dress fit like a glove to begin with but for the hem and bustle I paid WAY lower than DB was charging me. I had a terrible time planning my wedding--we had a serious family emergency AND had to put our cat down--all 3 weeks before the wedding. I had so much trouble getting in and getting the fitting because of all of Life's obstacles thrown at me but Pauline worked with me on EVERYTHING--not just the price. By the time I got in there, it only gave her about a week to get the whole thing done. My wedding was August 10th and I picked up my dress from her on the 8th. OMG IT WAS PERFECT! She had even told me, when I asked her if she could do it in time, "I will work overtime to get it done. Don't worry." Needed to get two pairs of jeans hemmed. Called her on Thursday morning to make sure she could get them done. I came by and she quoted Saturday at 11:00. When I showed up at about 11:15 she said "oh you come so early" and proceeded to tell me they weren't ready yet and could I come back in an hour. I went to the bank an Starbucks and came back about 30 minutes later. When I arrived she was down the way at another business chit chatting it up. She ran back down as I was walking up and went back to work on my jeans. I'm now sitting in their waiting area just waiting for my jeans. I should have stuck with Pleats in North County. Good the first time. Second time I was charged twice. I called in and they apologized and would give me the credit towards the next time. The third time, it wasn't ready as promised. I had to come back the next day. Fourth time, they lost a pair of pants, then jokingly said that they never get my order right.
