TL;DR: Don't eat at Nikko in Tarrytown if you're looking for a pleasant experiance. We entered into a fairly empty restaurant at about 11:50/12 o'clock. We were greeted by a nicely mannered hostess who took us to our table. We sat at our table looking over the menus while we waited for our server. The server 'Miya' finally came to order our drinks with the biggest smile she could possibly give (which wasn't a smile at all). She took our drink order and swiftly left without a word. Struck me as a little odd, but I shrugged it off. Miya came back to deliver our drinks and threw the straws with a vengeance onto our table. She then took our food order, she seemed like she was in a bit of a rush to get to the other empty tables she needed to attend to; so, we gave her our orders fast. I ordered steak, Person 2 ordered hibachi shrimp, Person 3 ordered pad thai, and Person 4 ordered a bento box. She snatched, yes snatched the menus away from Person 2 in an agressive manner and strutted away with what had to be the most unamused look I've ever seen on anyone's face. We spent the next 10 minutes chit-chatting about our day, as we waited for our food to be prepared. Have you ever heard of Goldie Locks? What followed was kind of like that, instead of being too hot, too cold and just right; there was 'yummy', 'gross', 'mediocre' and 'whatever'. Person 2 was lucky and got the yummy plate, I got the whatever plate, Person 4 got the mediocre plate, and of course, Person 3 got stuck with the gross plate. Her food was flavorless, soggy and looked like a prison's attempt at Asian food. Person 3 requested some peanut sauce to help flavor it up a little, but of course, they couldn't accommodate that request. How could they? It's not like an Asian restaurant has peanut sauce or anything... Person 3 tried her best to get through it but she just couldn't do it. She sent it back. Miya did not seem to understand why she wanted to take it back, so I grabbed the wheel and tried to make it clear to her. "It was flavorless" I said, "I tried it, it wasn't good. I've ordered this from here before and it is not what I would've expected". She seemed to concede, she took the plate back at around 12:34. Time passed, a lot of time passed... it seemed like we saw every server except Miya. Finally we get someone's attention to get the check. We wait, and wait... and wait. Finally, Miya comes back to our table at 12:58. She has the check in her hand and mumbles something as she started to walk away. I said "excuse me", she mumbled again. "Say again" I exclaimed, she then said, "I forgot the drink". "You forgot the what?" I said as I snatched the check in the same manner of aggression that she took the menu from Person 2. "Did you remove the Pad Thai from our check?" I asked. She responded affirmatively. I then proceeded to complain more, "We waited 23 minutes for our check, the food wasn't good. We had a bad experience overall". She tried to explain to me that it was busy, but I did not buy that. "We were the only ones in the restaurant when we came in, sure it's busy now. But we should've been fine", having enough of the conversation I cut myself off while handing her our cards... "just split the check for us". She said okay, walked away and returned with our cards and said "Thank you, have a nice day" while gently putting the receipts down. The first, and only polite thing she did while we were there. read more

This is an absolute hidden gem! Tucked away in the corner of the parking lot, this place was fantastic! It might be a little hard to see the sign when you come off the highway, but I'm glad we did find it as it was a pleasure able dining experience. I've only ordered delivery and food is good. Usually arrives with 30-45 min. I have ordered from all parts of the menu. In about 50 orders they only ran late once and it must have been due to the dinner rush. read more

A replacement for our after work hang out bar (TGIF) at Tarrytown. $3 for draft beers is the cheapest in the area. It offers Kirin, Captain Lawrence Pale Ale, Blue Moon which are good beers instead of only bud or budlight. $5 for the various martini is really a good deal these days. The appetizers are nice and tasty. The cocktail hours is from 4-7 which is very nice. The hibachi is nice and the portion is big. Every waiter is extremely friendly and attentive. Co-workers and I definitely will go back (already been back three times). read more

Walked in for a Hibachi dinner and were told there would be an hour wait. The restaurant was not full. 6 hibachi grills but only three were operating during prime dinner seating. This restaurant could be so much better, and it's the only Hibachi spot for miles in a prime location. However, the food and service left a lot to be desired. My waitress, while very lovely, could not communicate well and therefore, our food order was not understood. Even worse, what arrived was swimming in soy sauce and over cooked. I don't think this place will survive much longer if they don't improve upon their customer service and menu. read more

The atmosphere is really nice! Major renovation and upgrade from when it was TGI Fridays. We were pleasantly surprised at the ambience created by the new flooring, window treatments, colors, lighting and decor. I also like the layout; the Hibachi seating is distinctly separate from the rest of the regular dining area.... I never liked sitting near the Hibachi stations and breathing in all the smoke and grill odors. That said, we had sushi and it was only so-so. The specialty roll we order was called crazy lover's roll and it was rather bland and cut into bulky pieces that were hard to manage. The yellowtail and scallion wasn't very flavorful either. So... I might go again as it is walking distance from my finance's house but I wouldn't go out of my way for the sushi. Can't speak about the Hibachi or the bar..... your mileage may vary. read more

I came here with some family for lunch today after finding them on Yelp. The food was top notch. We had the $13 lunch deal thing. Salmon teriyaki, 6 spicy tuna rolls, miso soup, shrimp shumai, pineapple, and brown rice... all for $13. It's very close to several different highways... will definitely be back at least once a week. When we lived in Tarrytown this was our go to place and even now , will make the drive for hibachi dinners, even though Noda's and Edo's are closer . They have a full bar and drinks as well as private rooms for parties . We have celebrated many an occasion here . Be prepared to wait for a long time. I have ordered from this place many times but recently the communication from staff to driver has been very poor. Either they need to hire another driver or communicate better. Besides that the hibachi or sushi is always lovely. I have stopped ordering from there for quite some time (like 2 weeks) since the delivery time was off putting on multiple occasions. I politely waited for over an hour and the one who answers the phone took it as a joke. Sushi is so fresh and the spring rolls are amazing. Delivery came exactly when expected and I was provided with all of my requests. I didn't even have to leave my hotel room. They came right up. I had been here one other time to get take out sushi! It was very good! Recently went with my family for hibachi. It wasn't horrible. However we went on a Wednesday night and all eyes were on us, only hibachi table being used. Odd feeling lol. But the food... The soup was HORRIBLE, worst I have ever had, tasted like dirty water. Angry dragon roll. Delicious. The eel miso sauce is what does it. I've been here seated at the hibachi tables and also for takeout and the taste is consistent. I believe their takeout portions are *slightly* larger but in-restaurant is quite filling too. The hostess/waiters are friendly enough, but the chefs are way more customer friendly. The fried rice is also worth a mention-- it's very nice. I particularly love the vegetable style because the mushrooms they use are atypical and incredible. Table for 4, we were seated promptly. Adequate seating and spacious. Tried a variety of items, draft beer and wine selection were ok, the Manhattan ordered was decent. Wait staff were attentive, hibachi chef did his usual set of tricks and jokes. APIs were delicious would recommend duck/pancake roll, and the dragon roll, mozzarella sticks were cooked down. Medium rare steaks were a bit over cooked, and one order of salmon was mistakingly missing but was delicious once resolved. They have changed up their mustard sauce to something more related to mayo/ketchup. Offered both rice and noodles with dishes. Prices were decent compared to other hibachi restaurants but part of the portions were smaller. Overall I would recommend this for first time hibachi dates or dinner with friends. read more

Local sushi place and I love it. The service is great. Never say in the hibachi but I hear other people enjoying it. The sushi here is so fresh. I enjoy the duck roll as well. Ordered stir fried udon with shrimp and it was delicious until I took another bite and pulled a long black thin hair from my mouth. Called manager over and instead of doing the right thing and comping the meal right away he made many excuses saying it didn't come from his kitchen because his chef has short hair. Unacceptable. I understand this is a difficult time however, they totally skimmed on our food. I ordered 3 hibachi lunch specials and it used to come with your choice of protein, rice, vegetables, dumplings, noodles, and a California roll. I love going to hibachi!! I can't find anywhere in Manhattan to go! We didn't have to make a reservation and easily got a table that wasn't too crowded. I got sea scallops and my boyfriend got steak. It really was delicious and ht the spot. Don't let the odd placement of the restaurant full you. It's in an office complex in an area with secluded office buildings and hotels, but the dinner was absolutely great. The hibachi prices start around $18 and go up to about $28. DON'T EAT HERE! They feed you bugs in your food. This was one of my favorite restaurants until I found a COOKED ROACH in my food yesterday July 20, 2019. You clearly saw its antennas, legs, and wings. There was no mistaking what is was. I wish I had taken a picture but of course my plate was taken away once I showed the waiter. Disgusting! The waiter said it was probably in the broccoli. So apparently they don't clean their vegetables! I love Thai and I loved that I was able to order over Yelp. The prices were average. I got Pad Thai with chicken and also a shrimp mango roll. The Pad Thai was good but it had more of a Chinese-food taste to it than the spices of Thai food. It didn't really taste like Pad Thai I've had anywhere else and It was still very good but I was just looking forward to the spices that come with Thai food. I really enjoyed the ambiance and food here! The hibachi show was very fun and the cook was awesome. We got chicken/ steak hibachi and a bunch of different sushi rolls and everyone enjoyed their food. My only complaint to knock off one star was the waiter was almost forcing us to order off of the dinner menu rather than the lunch specials even though we still had 10 minutes left of lunch (before 3pm). Normally it wouldn't be a big deal but we were a party of 7 and only one person was paying so we if we wanted the lunch portion we should be able to get it if it's before the cut off. We did end up getting the lunch prices but just be wary of that. Otherwise definitely try this place! read more

We had a little tasting of everything from kitchen food, hibachi and sushi. The kitchen food had great flavor and the sushi was super fresh. The hibachi show was good too. I live in Los Angeles, a big capital of sushi fanatics. When I'm here on East Coast I love eating here. Service is always pleasant and unlike many sushi places around the sushi rice is not gummy and the sushi is not overly riced. The sushi is consistently fresh and yummy. The room has a nice comfortable modern feel to it and thankfully relatively quiet without insanely loud or crazy music. It's a great place to catch up with friends. I love it. read more
