I came here with my parental units for dinner about a month ago. We were trying to break out of the rut of going to the same fucking restaurant over and over again. Via yelp magic I found this place so we came here to give it a try. The menu has a wide variety of choices in many asian cuisines. They've got some thai shit on there, they've got some sushi shit on there and other japanese stuff. Whatever asian delights you might be in the mood for, I'm pretty confident they can provide it for you. I went with hot sake, even though it was roasting outside. They offered our table a plate of edamame which was a nice touch. Don't expect the same treatment though bc you're not as hot as I am. I ordered a plate of avocado rolls because I am relentlessly trying to get my mother on the sushi bandwagon. I am convinced she would enjoy that shit even though she tries to resist. Even she admitted the sushi was really good. I went with, I believe tofu teriyaki. When the plate came out, everyone's jaws dropped because it was a very impressive tofu-tower display. Even the mother fuckers at the next table turned around and asked me what I ordered. It was good, and I enjoyed it, but it wasn't spectacular. It was a ton of food and I was struggling to finish it. I'd recommend giving this place a try.

Came here very early on a Saturday evening so the place was almost empty. The food was excellent and the waiters were very attentive. However, there was a misunderstanding as served me the Yellowtail Jalapeño although I had ordered the octopus. I didn't mind as the fish looked - and was delicious.

Good local Asian food. I enjoyed their noodles and dumplings, as well as their chicken and broccoli.

The best sushi in the area by far! Always very fresh, good quality and affordable. Anything with their spicy tuna is great.

We still kept the Sushi Sandwich, Eel Avocado Roll, Mango Hawaii Roll, and the Pink Lady Roll, all of which have been consistently unbelievable. However, we also swapped in some substitutes for the other rolls. First, we included a Yellowtail Scallion Roll, which was a bit small, but delicious. Then, we also incorporated the Shrimp Hibachi, which came with white rice and a clear soup. The broth had a lot of flavor and contained fragrant mushrooms. The hibachi dish had a load of fresh vegetables (carrots, broccoli, zucchini, onions, and mushrooms) and a generous portion of grilled shrimp that were cooked through to the perfect plumb bites. The sauce was lighter than a teriyaki would have been, which was what we were hoping for. Yet again, it was another excellent curation of menu items. Raku has provided some of the best of Japanese food we have ever tasted! The place is a gem!

There were several babies in attendance and the staff were so sweet with them. The Udon soup was delicious and much better than what we were used to. The menu is not your typical Japanese/Chinese American fare. There were fun twists on my old favorites - the hot and sour soup - offered with seafood was a mostly clear soup with absolutely gorgeous flavors. I think I've been ruined for hot and sour soup forever. The sushi was excellent. The old standbys were lovingly done and if I didn't live so far away, I'd definitely come back soon!

The estimated delivery time was 7:20 PM. By 7:40 PM, the food still hadn't arrived. I called the restaurant and was told that delivery is handled by a third party and there was nothing they could do. I then tried calling ChowNow through multiple phone numbers, but every time I selected the option for order assistance, the call immediately disconnected. When I called the restaurant back, I got the same response -- essentially that it wasn't their problem. I ended up calling the owner directly. His first question was whether I had left a tip on the ChowNow order. He explained that if no tip is shown, drivers often ignore the delivery request because they know there is little or no tip to earn. What bothered me most is that this was not new information to him. In fact, I had a similar issue in the past. The owner immediately knew exactly what the problem was, which tells me this is a known issue that customers have experienced before. Yet nothing has been done to address it, warn customers, or provide a backup solution. Whether delivery is handled by ChowNow or not, customers are ordering through Koku's website and choosing a service that Koku has decided to use. To me, that makes the delivery experience an extension of the restaurant's service. Simply pointing customers elsewhere when something goes wrong is not good customer service. To make matters worse, I eventually drove to the restaurant myself to pick up the food, only to discover that a driver had finally accepted and picked up the order while I was on my way. The food is good, but the lack of ownership, communication, and concern when a known problem occurs left a very disappointing impression.

This review, though, is all about their omakase experience. As always, the service was exceptional. The owner and staff are incredibly welcoming, attentive, and genuinely make you feel like a valued guest. The only reason this wasn't a perfect 10/10 had nothing to do with the restaurant. It's a small, intimate space, and unfortunately another table had a baby who cried throughout much of the meal. Not the restaurant's fault at all, but it's something to keep in mind if you're looking for a quiet omakase experience. Now for the food, the omakase was fantastic. I won't go through every course because part of the fun is the surprise, but what really stood out was the fish-to-rice ratio. Every piece was generously topped with beautifully fresh fish instead of being overloaded with rice, which I absolutely loved. Each bite was thoughtfully prepared, incredibly fresh, and full of flavor. Dessert was another pleasant surprise. Instead of the usual ending you get at many sushi restaurants, they served matcha ice cream topped with sweet red bean paste and pieces of mochi. It was unique, refreshing, and the perfect finish to the meal. Overall, I'll definitely continue coming back, not just for the omakase, but for their regular menu as well. If you're an omakase fan or looking for a quality sushi experience without breaking the bank, this place is absolutely worth a visit.

Pay attention to the 5 star reviews. Those are legit. We go in person because they often give us complimentary appetizers, which have included blue fin, king salmon and others in creative and delicious arrangements. Our favorite menu items include: sushi deluxe, tricolor sushi, heat roll. However, the sashimi is the best part- fatty tuna, yellowtail and salmon are the best. And they've converted me on fluke and kingfish.
