We tried quite a few dishes from this little sushi spot and they were all delicious! This is a cozy, clean place with few tables but it looks like most of their orders were to go. Our server, Eunice, was very nice and friendly. She was very attentive, never letting our water cups dip lower than half way before refilling. We had a part of 7 and it was able to accommodate us. It also allowed us to try out quite a few of their dishes and none of them disappointed. It's hard to tell in the pictures, but the rolls were nicely sized and we were stuffed when we finished! I didn't get a chance to take pictures of everything we had as we started eating as soon as the food arrived. We had: Appetizers: -soft shell crab (great flavor, but wasn't cut up) -baked muscles (excellent with white rice) -fried calamari (perfectly cooked) -edamame (as expected) -Hawaiian Poke (flavor was on point-sauce good balance of sour and spicy) Dishes: -Salvador Mango Roll (the slices of mango gave this roll interesting depth of flavor) -Hawaiian Roll (Cali Roll with sashimi on top-yummy!) -Crunch Roll (yummy!) -Orale Roll (this was a unique roll! My son ate it so quickly I didn't get a chance to try it!) -Buddy Roll (it was just plain good!) We finished everything, every last piece. And we were stuffed! Great little sushi spot! We came in right when they opened and were greeted with a smile! It is a small establishment but packs a punch with each dish! I love baked green muscles and it will be the first thing order at any sushi spot, if it's available - Niko Niko CM has the best BGMs I've had - period. We also started with some gyozas and they were warm and crispy. We ordered my daughter some salmon sashimi and they come so thick we asked them to slice them in half. Good problem to have imo. My wife and I shared the Superman Burrito, Sapporo Roll, and the Jalisco Roll. Knowing what I know now, we could have ordered 2 rolls since they are massive! The burrito is cut into 2 halves and was refreshing and although, big, felt pretty light. The Sapporo was good with a slight kick and tang from the spicy CA roll/ponzu sauce. Nope, never ever again! This place is a disgrace to the Niko Niko name. I have been going to Niko Niko in Costa Mesa since the very beginning. Moved around California over the last 2 decades and have never been to this location. Currently, we go to the Burbank one which has been consistently 5/5 since we discovered it 7 years ago. I went to another location in Irvine and it was also as good as I remembered but this one makes grocery store sushi feel like a fine dining experience! We were in the area, hungry and exhausted so we just wanted something reliable. Easiest solution was to just call Niko Niko to pick up some rolls we knew and trusted. We realized we picked up the bootleg edition of Niko Niko once we opened the boxes. If you are looking for rice heavy rolls that look like they've been waiting all day to be served, this is your spot! On top of that, there was a little gift we found on one of the rolls. Can't tell if it was a very long eye lash, beard hair or idk? I know there are levels to sushi restaurants out there but how dare they represent Niko Niko like that.
