    The bar

Oji Sushi is located in the Triangle Square shopping mall in Costa Mesa. It is located right next to the east-side entrance of the parking garage off Newport Boulevard. The parking garage has many underground levels and is often very busy. I was lucky to grab one of the last few spaces on the second level down on an early Tuesday evening. The interior is trendy with lots of neon signs, cool wall décor, stylish seating, and an attractive bar. In addition to booth and half-booth/half-table seating, they also have two enclosed glass wall rooms for more intimate dining. We went for the all-you-can-eat dinner, which is $38.99 per person for the regular menu or $45.99 per person for the premium menu. We wanted to have the premium menu, but one person in our group of four was running late. We asked if we could have the premium menu and just get regular menu items until they arrived. We didn't think it would be a big deal, but our server said everybody had to be there at the beginning to order premium. We ordered a rainbow roll to hold us over until our friend finally arrived. We had various nigiri including salmon, tuna, albacore, yellowtail, sweet shrimp, scallop, eel, uni, masago, salmon egg, as well as soft shell crab, broiled and fried mussels, octopus, and shishito peppers. There were probably some other items I forgot. Everything was generally good, although a few pieces of tuna were a little on the dry side. Slow service the main issue. The restaurant wasn't very busy, and it seemed like there was only one server who I'm sure was trying her best. It often took quite a while for food to arrive, and several of our orders were mistakenly delivered to the table next to us. We thought we were done, and at the very end another large plate came out including some of the premium items we never got earlier. The meal was ok, but we probably wouldn't return.

This is definitely the best ayce sushi in town. With so many options to choose from. Service is on point along with tvs to watch any sport games

Never disappoints. One of the top places for AYCE! They really have everything but the carpaccio is key. We had the snow roll & crunch roll aside from sashimi. Yumm. Already craving this as I write this post. The flavors really pack a punch & miso soup with edamame is an excellent touch! Servers were nice and the club lighting takes you away from the hot sun or away from a drab ordinary night. Highly recommend!

Went for the lunch all you can eat today. Portions were good, price was fair, quality was decent, first round came out quick, but took around 25 minutes for any part of the second round to come. There were only 3 or 4 other tables. Also the place looks cool, but the blaring house music was a bit obnoxious, especially when it was a club remix version of a Celine Dion song. Best things were the karaage and the hand rolls. Overall, decent enough time.

I mean just look at the plate of carpaccio! Literally the most beautiful presentation of carpaccio I've ever seen! Environment was very lively, and they played good music here. The mango cocktail was yummy, but pretty strong! I asked for more mango puree to weaken the alcoholic taste, and the staff was more than happy to accommodate!

Food was very good and sushi very fresh. We ordered a bento plate and a couple of rolls. I ordered a Salmon Sin Salad though and although it looked pretty, once I stirred the salad there was hardly any salmon skin, literally just a few pieces. I informed our waiter that they seem to have forgotten my salmon skin and he said he'll have the cook make some more. Thank you for making it right, I got a nice amount to add to my salad. The ambiance was trendy and full of customers. We've been at this location while it's been 3 different other sushi names and I'm happy to see they're continuing to be good.

Was able to try Oji Sushi & Bar during its happy hour, which is Sunday through Thursday from 3PM-6PM. My friends and I left pretty satisfied with the portion and quality of dishes respective to price. Our total (3 people) amounted to around $15 each, which is honestly a steal! Overall, I don't think Oji has the best sushi, but is a budget spot to hit if you are craving fish but don't want to break the bank. Items Ordered: - Spicy Crispy Tuna Rice - Yuzu Yellowtail - Angrytail Roll Ambience: Slightly elevated with dark lighting and modern interior. Plenty of seating with booth and table seating suitable for different sizes of parties. Service: Was a bit on the slower side even though the restaurant itself wasn't too busy. (I think they were short-staffed.) Of note, most of the staff is young and probably around high school to college aged. Parking: Located in a busy plaza but with plenty of free parking to find. Can be a bit difficult to locate as it is on the outer edges of the plaza. Overall Impression: Solid happy hour spot with excellent value at $15 per person. While it's not the highest quality sushi you'll find, the portions and prices make it a great option for casual dining with friends. Definitely worth adding to your rotation of happy hour spots in OC!

We did AYCE and left with bellies full. The favorites of the night were: yellowtail sashimi, karaage, salmon nigiri, eel nigiri. The service was quick and friendly. Definitely a large space so it will accommodate large parties. Getting there is a little tricky, the entrance is on the outside of the building so going down the stairs from the second floor from yard house seemed like the most direct path

Decently Priced AYCE. We got the Premium menu because some people in our party wanted things off the Premium menu. Service was good, they explained their process very well. Their sushi was good, Salmon was a tad salty. The Truffle Salmon was amazing. Definitely a must try if you like Salmon.

Lunch had two options of premium vs regular. We chose the regular and we still had a lot of different options. The service was top notch, very knowledgeable about how process of ordering works. The restaurant itself had a great ambiance, music, tons of tables and spacious. The only con I had were the sushi quality and texture of certain rolls, some of the rolls tasted very mushy and overcooked. The creamy broccoli was amazing and baked mussels! Tons of variety from hand rolls to sushi rolls.

Came here for lunch AYCE, not tooo shabby. There are two different lunch prices one is premium and the other is regular. The ambiance is relaxing and the service is really good. Let's get to the food. The roles were actually pretty good but inconsistent. Some rolls they pack it with rice and some they don't. Overall flavors aren't bad. The disappointing roll is the Alaskan roll, the salmon is super mushy and they out so much sauce the rice fell apart. 2/5. The other rolls like slider, oji roll, caterpillar roll, and etc were all pretty good. Those get a 4.1/5. The appetizers for some reason were better than the rolls. The creamy broccolini was by far the BEST. Super charred and the sauce is addicting. Strong 5/5. The potatoes shrimp is unique. 4.9/5. The capprocini tuna, yellowfin, and salmon were all delicious. 4.2/5. The chicken katsu was super fatty, they definitely didn't take out the skin when they cooked it so the marsh was pure fat and oil. 1/5. Overall this is a one and done place for me. For a place like this I was expected to be wow off my seat.

    Ajay H.

Solid "American" style AYCE sushi roll, nigiri, and sashimi spot in Costa Mesa (among many others)... the staff is warm and welcoming and attentive, and explains the rules carefully. With a 90-minute time-limit, you have enough time to max out on all the premium items and trust me you will be stuffed to the brim within the first hour. Would return here again soon when time and stomach space permit!

    Jasmine N.

The inside of the restaurant is so cute. The light up signs about sushi are all fun. The menu has a good amount of options and they have two different all-you-can-eat options as well. The sushi was good for all you can eat. The portions were also very generous. The role sizes were great.

The turnaround rate from ordering to receiving was kind of slower than other AYCE sushi locations I've been to, but it made up in the taste for the most part. Rice can be a hit or miss here sometimes, but it's usually pretty good. The fish was fresh and the plating was beautiful when I ate here alone! I honestly love their mozzarella sticks it just hits the spot for me. There's no limit on how much you can order, but there is a maximum of 3 rounds of ordering. The servers (only male ones) I encountered were friendly and attentive, too. Refilled my water and was there for my next order either before or soon after finishing my round. However, I usually go during lunch (1-2) when it's not so busy. Overall, enjoy coming here and I think you pay for what you get.

i want to preface this and say I never leave reviews... this experience has been honestly the WORST…read moredining experience i have ever had in my entire life and i'm not even exaggerating. I took my girlfriend out to try their AYCE $40 sushi and we were so dissatisfied. the first thing you notice when walking in is the lack of staff there to seat you, they have one active waitress managing all the tables making the order times slower and leaving us unattended, 3 round limit on the orders which is alright i guess but other places nearby don't have that rule so I'd recommend any other one of those places alone. Next was the order. We got the appetizers, the premium products that were limited, and ordered our first round of fish. TELL ME WHY they fucked up our order 4 different ways. First they forgot our seaweed salad, then forgot our tuna, then gave us 2 instead of 4 bluefin tuna, and they ran out of one of their appetizers!! That was 4 mistakes in just the very first round... We decided to give benefit of the doubt and just enjoy the food, who wants to eat sushi in a bad mood?! The avacado appetizer was good and lifted our hopes but then we tried everything else and it was incredibly mid. The bluefin tuna wasn't that great, the rice was overportioned (as most ayce sushi places do which is fine wtv) but also just weirdly textured. the salmon wasn't hitting at all, I HAVE NEVER BEEN TO A SUSHI SPOT WHERE THEIR SALMON WAS GARBAGE. so that was a first. then round 2 comes and they FUCK UP AGAIN. they switched our 6 and 10 so they gave us 4 extra pieces of a fish we didn't order and shorted us on 4 pieces we wanted. They forgot another order of seaweed salad we placed, forgot our soybean appetizer, and there's something else that i can't remember rn but holy shit we felt so terrible having to talk to the waitress to correct our order but i can't even believe that's possible, we ORDERED ON A PIECE OF PAPER, u can literally verify what we placed it's not even like verbal communication. horrible. then the chef tried to make an excuse for himself and say he didn't wanna give us the order that we marked lightly in pencil (when we could scribble over it if it was an accident) but wtv i guess that's a reason... UNTIL I LOOK AT OUR OTHER NUMBERS CLEARLY WRITGRN IN BOLD PENCIL THAT HE STILL FORGOT. don't try to blame us for your incompetence. waitress was nice, again we felt really bad and i've never written a bad review anywhere even at places that might've deserved it but this place really did it for me. there are so many other good sushi spots nearby for better prices, better quality fish, and better service. i can't believe this is a $40 meal i just think about that every time i see good food in my area, like wow i could've had that instead. I will never forget my expierence here at koyi sushi and not in the good way. please if you value your sanity stay the hell away from this terrible establishment, they need to get their shit together

The meat was tender, had a nice balanced buttery taste that wasnt too heavy, and was cooked at just the right level of done-ness. The seasoning was just right. The bacon on the outside had some nice crispy bits to it which added some fun textures to the skewer. Very yummy. The pork belly skewer was good too! Not as good as the other skewers I tried though. As for the chicken hotplate, it was really good! The chicken was grilled perfectly and the meat was very tender. The skin on the outside is grilled such that it's crispy, so that added some nice char flavor and texture. The arugula added some nice brightness to the dish. The lighter colored sauce had a sweet and tangy flavor to it, whereas the darker colored sauce had a sweet soy sauce flavor to it. Reminded me a lot of teriyaki sauce, but in a good way! It comes with a side of white rice and the rice was cooked perfectly. Overall a nice spot to go to for a special occasion. The ambience felt modern, clean, and kind of fancy.
