It is in writing. I gave a picture reference of a cake example I wanted and a picture of my daughters dress so there was a color reference. Glitter was not added cause he felt it was too much and would look busy (even though I wanted it was told ok) and the color was more of a vanilla/off white color. First picture is the in cake at my venue under darker lighting (they took), next pictures. are the cake at my house in daylight, and last picture were the reference once I gave. I have the exact text exchange we had with all the pictures attached and owner still refuses to acknowledge mistake. He kept insisting it was a light pink. So unfortunately cause cake was delicious and beautifully made. This was my first time ordering from them. Would have overlooked the mistake if owner would've acknowledged the mistake but he wouldn't. He believes this cake is light pink and I don't agree. Otherwise i would've continued getting cakes from here cause they do taste great.

She made my daughter's birthday cake for her preschool. It was yummy. Everyone loved it. It was all fresh cream chocolate cake. There was one special thing that khyati did and God bless her for this.. There was one kid in the class with many many food allergies and it was hard for me to find any cake bakery shop who can accomodate the girls request and also to make eggless cake for rest of the class. I must have called every damn cake shop to make it eggless and nut free and ofcourse ton of allergy consideration. Finally i found khyati. And she agreed to help me with very reasonable prices.. The girls mom had tears in her eyes cos this was 1st ever time in 4 yrs the gal had her 1st ever professionally made cake. The display cake was nicely decorated, but the one given to us was completely plain white with no chocolate chips around it at all. There were four cakes kept for display, and when we asked for one of them, the attender said they were only for display and refused to sell them, which felt misleading. There was plain space on top of the cake to write a message, yet the attender refused to write the wish, which is very basic service for a cake shop. Worse, the Black Forest cake did not taste fresh at all. It was hard, dry, and completely tasteless. To make things worse, it was extremely expensive $50 for an 8‑inch cake with no taste and poor quality. Overall, very bad service and not worth the money. I strongly do not recommend Cakes and Bakes.

POST WEDDING UPDATE: After the cake tasting and deciding on using Ma Petite Maison, we asked Negar…read morefor a contract (she calls it order form). After a few weeks, we finally got it. It did take some effort (several emails and voice mails). A couple of weeks before the wedding, I wanted to know where/when the flowers from the florist should get delivered so that she can put them on the cake. When I didn't hear back from Negar, I contacted my florist and she responded immediately that I don't need to worry. Negar delivers the cake to the venue, and the flowers are added there. Phew! So my only negative comment is that communications is not great, but persevere because the cake will be worth it! On the day of the wedding, seeing that beautiful cake on the table, it was just what we had imagined. We got great advice from Negar that we should order only enough cake for about 75% of your guests, and sure enough, that was plenty. Not only was the cake beautiful, but it tasted just as good. It was so moist, and you can really tastes the strawberry flavor in the filling. It was just as we remembered from the tasting. We had so many compliments on the cake. So don't give up if you can't reach Negar. She does everything herself, and is a totally sweet person to work with. The cake will be worth it.
