Also, what's with the v. short chairs in the waiting area no arms. It woud be impossible for me and many adults to rise from them so I have to stand & wait when I get there. They have far too many interns, and sometimes they let the interns practice on patients' teeth. One of the interns filed too much off the surface of my two front teeth, leaving them flat and damaged. I complained to the clinic and to my doctor, Anya, but she dismissed my concerns. Here are additional issues I experienced with AP Dental in East Boston: 1. During my Invisalign treatment, they initially gave me a few sets of Invisalign trays. You're supposed to change trays every 1 to 2 weeks. After about 3-4 months, they told me my Invisalign treatment was complete. However, my teeth were still not aligned. I had to push them to continue because I knew my teeth weren't properly aligned. I had braces about 10 years ago, so I am very familiar with the correct position of my teeth. This clearly shows that they don't know what they're doing. 2. During my Invisalign consultation at AP Dental, the front desk staff informed me that the treatment came with a free teeth-whitening package valued at over $300. However, at the end of my treatment, I was given only three small whitening tubes, which cost about $15 each online and are also sold at AP Dental for the same price. This was clearly a case of false advertising. Overall, I would not recommend getting Invisalign at this location. Achieving good, healthy teeth is a serious matter, especially when it involves procedures like filing teeth to align them properly. AP Dental specializes in dental hygiene and clearly lacks experience with Invisalign. It seems like easy money for them, but for patients, the results are what truly matter. If I could go back in time, I would pay a little more to get my Invisalign treatment at an orthodontic office rather than a general dental hygiene office. One small mistake can permanently damage your teeth.

I got an emergency appointment and the Dentist who saw me was nice enough and focused "only on the tooth that i complained about". He then informed me that there are issues around that tooth that could also be causing pain and I should come in for a cleaning and a comprehensive exam. I did that one week later, which was still filled with pain. I got another set of zrays (I had given the clinic two previous sets that were recent) and then waited two hours for the dentist who came and said that he has to go home in 10 min and doesn't have time to see me. He did inform me that I have a cavity but that he also had a long day and didn't have time to deal with that. I was given an appointment a week later. I can't believe this is what counts as good health care in Boston. Oh I then got called after I left the clinic because they were worried I would give them an infectious disease and told me that I needed to be medically cleared. I informed them that this was not only discrimination but illegal and they said they will check before confirming the appointment. They did eventually confirm the appointment but by then I was sufficiently traumatized that I found another place to get treated. The good marketing is as far as it gets, they don't care about their patients at all. We are just dollar signs to them.

He is thorough, professional, and genuinely invested in his patients. It is frustrating to see someone so capable working for a company this disorganized. I have spent nearly $7,000 on Invisalign and followed every instruction carefully. My primary goal was to correct a single rotated tooth that had relapsed after prior orthodontic treatment. I saw Dr. Shane on June 16 after progressing through tray 28 of 36. At that point, we determined the tooth had enough space to rotate, but it was not responding to the current treatment plan. Dr. Shane recommended I try tray 29 for two weeks to see if it would improve. When it didn't, I returned on June 26 and he rescanned me for refinement trays to move forward. Since that June 26 appointment, no progress has been made. It is now early August and I have received no new trays, no update, and no timeline. I have been wearing tray 29 for nearly a month and a half. It is deteriorating, full of holes, and has become uncomfortable to wear. I communicated this clearly to the staff. After "checking" twice and confirming that my trays were physically at the office prior to my scheduled appointment, I was notified less than an hour before the visit that the wrong trays had been sent by the lab. Instead of taking accountability or expediting a solution, I was simply rescheduled three more weeks out -- as if that was an acceptable response to wearing a deteriorating aligner for over six weeks. There was no urgency, no escalation, and no regard for the impact this delay would have on my treatment. Adding to the frustration, Tend routes all scheduling and communication through a centralized call center. You cannot speak directly with the local office. Even basic requests turn into drawn-out back-and-forth exchanges with someone who has no knowledge of your treatment or any relationship with your provider. I explicitly requested a call from someone in leadership -- twice. Instead, I received a generic email more than a week later saying my concern had been forwarded to studio management. No one ever followed up. No one seems to care. This experience is not an isolated case. On my past few visits to the Kendall Square location, I have personally witnessed at least two other patients visibly upset in the waiting area, also due to Tend's negligence. That says everything about how this place is run. Once this issue is resolved, I will not be returning. Tend is all about polished branding, but behind the scenes is a revolving door of staff, zero accountability, and no real support once they have your money. Dr. Shane deserves to work somewhere that supports both patients and professionals. If you are considering Tend, do yourself a favor and look elsewhere. Your time, money, and health deserve better.
