Today me & hubby visited this place for the first time one of my husband friends told him the food was good.Well the food was a big disappointment I ordered a medium rib tips macaroni and cheese And a peach cobbler. The Hubby ordered barbecue brisket and greens the brisket was cut to thick and had no flavor my rib tips must've been boiled first they had so much fat on them they were not cut like tips because the meat was so soft when I pick one up to eat it was just fat I had to pick from the meat.The tip was Soak in grease it was a A nightmare to eat. I threw most of it away and still got a stomach ache from the grease.Will not eat here again.And my husband greens were the last that they had the man gave him from the bottom of the pan and they were salty. read more

Great bbq and I have been to Texas and had some of the best bbq in the world. The ribs were full of flavor and the mac and cheese, delicious! Greens, delicious! Everything was fresh. Some of the best bbq I've had in a very long time! So happy to have found this little hidden gem on the south side. I really hope they survive and thrive. I like when a restaurant tells you they are out of an item you want..it tells me either it's very good or they make it fresh daily. The rib tips were so tender and actually tasted the smoky flavor unlike many other places that claim they smoke their meat. Greens were delicious. didn't care much for the cole slaw but to be fair I'm very picky when it comes to slaw. Tonight was my first time visiting this establishment. Rest assured it will not be my last. The wait staff was exceptionally courteous and pleasant. The restaurant was clean and orderly. I had a half a slab of ribs with baked beans and my wife had a brisket sandwich with fries. The food was excellent. I consider myself a connoisseur of baked beans and theirs were exceptional. The sauce that they use was not overpowering and had a sweet and Smokey flavor. The coleslaw was fantastic, reminded me of my grandmother's recipe. The only drawback there was that there was not enough of it. I would suggest that they give a larger portion. I highly recommend it I'll be visiting again in the near future read more

Tried Nine One One today for the first time. I have to say that I have been searching for somewhere within a reasonable area that offered a good hot link. look no further, I purchased the large hot link today and believe I have found the winner. The large link consists of 2 approximately 6 inch links that are cooked perfectly. The outer skin is cooked through with a dense moist texture that lacks the overcooked dried out experience you can have from many BBQ places. The BBQ sauce has just a hint of heat to it and is very slightly sweet which balanced the medium spicy hot links very well. Once to bite into the link you can be fairly sure your getting some quality because the grind is moderate without large pieces of chewy fat and you can see the spicy seasoning in the mix. The meal is accompanied by one side of choice. I had the greens which again were outstanding. Seasoned well with some great flavor. that makes you want more. The fact that I really enjoy links and feel I found my place will make it hard for me to try other menu items, but I'll have to force myself because everything looks great. My wife and I each had the half slab with coleslaw and cornbread. The ribs meaty, tender and the BBQ sauce is just right. Sweet potatoes were very tasty and the coleslaw was the best we've had in a long, long time. Very friendly staff, pleasant to deal with. Support your local business. Moved to the area from the North Side about a year ago and was surprised by the lack of good BBQ spots. Saw that 911 BBQ Shack opened recently and gave it a try. Had the brisket sandwich, good flavor, lots of meat. Mac and cheese also tasty. Wife had the rib tips. Good portion, smoky and on the sweet side. We will be back. Had a taste for rib tips and I been disappointed lately. I-57 been trash lately and LEMS IS sometimes tuff ..smh...but this place was on point!!! First off ..they were meaty!!. Not all that bone. Wasn't burnt (like I57). Anddd they were tender!! The staff was nice.. Very friendly. Only thing I didn't like it was so small I almost passed it up...Glad I didn't. The food is on point. Ordered the pre-fixed family meal for two. The ribs were tender, the chicken was flavorful and the chicken was smoked to perfection. The sides were just as good. I would not recommend the company for catering jobs. We had an event which started on time but the food was 40 minutes late in arriving. Our family member referred us and did not tell us they were one hour and a half late for their event in the past. We did not receive a formal apology or any credit. A person may own a restaurant but they will never grow, expand, or make more money with this type of service. Very unprofessional. read more

I struggled with whether or not I would write this review, I concluded that it was best that I did. This was my third time visiting this restaurant and it's my final visit, This is Chicago there are far better choices. I woke up this morning with Bbq on the brain, because I have quite a drive I called ahead to be sure they had the sides I wanted. I was told that the sweet potatoes would be a hour. I was a ok with that and I called back in an hour and was told the sweet potatoes were ready. I put in my order. I arrived at 911 about 20 minutes later and was told the sweet potatoes weren't ready I admit I was disappointed but not belligerent. I quietly expressed my disappointment to the pleasant worker who apologized. All of a sudden a man at the cash register starts making comments that I found to be very disrespectful and unnecessary and in front of his other guests. An exchange with a guest in front of another guest is in my opinion extremely unprofessional. I made a decision to stop engaging this idiot. Turns out he's one of the owners which makes him look more of an idiot! He then says to another guest "I'm going to take care of her food." I told him I'm not looking for charity I'm prepared to pay for my food, I'm not looking for a hand out. I decided to wait an additional 20 min still no sweet potatoes. No problem I just wanted to get the hell away from the negative energy, the female co-owner was kind enough to give me a 10% discount and gift card (that I won't use)! That's why I gave the 1 star. Now about the food the ribs sucked. The meat was very tough and lacked flavor. The bones were bigger than any bones I have ever had I questioned what animal did they come from? Love when a new family business opens in the neighborhood. Food is great, we've tried the bbq chicken sliders, sweet potatoes, ribs, and bbq pulled pork. Everything is fresh and their sauce is wonderful. The inside decor is really cute and welcoming but it is very small so might be a bit cramped to eat in there, but they do have about eight seats. read more

This is a great local business. We just started being regulars here. The food is always fresh, especially the ribs and the taste!!!! (the taste) is awesome. All the food is prepared well, the place is clean and the staff is super friendly and accommodating if they happened to run out of something. That's the only reason I don't give it 5 stars, because sometimes they run out of certain items and they're not open on church day-Sunday for me-- which I think they're missing out on a lucrative crowd by doing this. I know people that would love a good meal after church services. About running out, I think because they don't want to give you day old cooked food and they only make so much for the day, but it's a bummer sometimes. Today is my first time visiting this place. My first impression upon walking in was that this is anything but a shack. Very very clean on the inside. I got the bbq sliders so I could try the pork, chicken, and brisket. All were very good. My favorite was the brisket, followed by the chicken, and then pork. But they were all really good. Not many options for amazing BBQ on the south side of Chicago and Nine One One exceeds all expeditions! Amazing food. Amazing service. There's nothing more you can ask for. Had the food for catering at the old location but this was the first time ordering from this spot. My dad said it was one of the best meals he's had in a long time. The ribs were fall off the bone, pulled pork and chicken were not at all dry and cooked perfect. Mac and cheese was spot on and bbq sauce is amazing. The baked beans are just as my mom and I said "not sweet and not Smokey but just real good". I can't wait to go back again! read more

On Thursday, 9/30/21 around 3:00p.m., I attempted to call in an order for pick- up, but as usual, they werent answering their phones. So, when I arrived and placed my order, the guy behind the counter told me that they were out of Brisket . While I was waiting for my order, a gentleman walked in and said he was there to pick up his phone order. The phones haven't been answered in weeks. Another customer said isn't that brisket back there, the man serving just laughed. Obviously, they're saving food for friends or those in that racist neighborhood. The food was horrible!! Since they re- opened in racist Mount Greenwood(Sundown Town), I've tasted everything on their menu. Today the hot links tasted like old meat, the slab tasted old and undercooked and the in-seasoned the greens were the worst! The fries were good and the pulled pork sandwich good. This is the third time that the food had been hit or miss. During the Labor Day holiday,I had an unpleasant experience that began with the rude, overweight woman who deliberately ruined my order. Clearly, I'm not valued as a customer- only the people they know for whom they save the "good meat" and those whose calls they answer. This is the last time that I will "EVER" eat from there. They really don't care for my business ! I've referred many people and now I want people to know that to this establishment is not who they appeared to be. We're Done! read more
