Located in downtown Benicia, Nine O Seven is perfectly located. I've eaten here twice for breakfast -- once on a Saturday and once on a Sunday. On both of those occasions, I found the food, atmosphere and service satisfactory. The omelets are delicious, the sausage fresh and the toast warm. I would recommend the back garden patio which has more of a relaxing ambience. While the eating and bathroom areas are clean (this is in contrast to earlier comments made by previous reviewers), the kitchen area (which has to be passed on the way to the patio) was quite messy. I think this is probably the only (but needed) area for improvement. I plan to return soon and have breakfast in the back patio. read more

I ordered a turkey patty melt on the menu it says served on sour dough bread. I ordered it well done. They waited said ok A patty melt is usually a hamburger with cheese. I received sandwich meat on white bread. when I asked the waiter he said .. well I should have told you we were out of sourdough bread, but Our patty melts are and have always been sandwich meat... really then state on the menu! I will be a long time before I go back.... I really don't like paying my hard earned money to be lied to and ripped off. read more

Came for lunch today and we ordered a BLTA and a pulled pork sandwich , both were sooooooo flavorful and delicious , good portions my side salad was really fresh with lots of good veggies in it . Really pleasantly surprised by this place. Went at noon on the weekend, everyone at the table had a breakfast item. The food was good, coffee was delicious and great service. Got to restaurant at 12:20 pm today. At 1:00, had not received food. Even after getting up to ask what was going on. When food arrived at 1:10, food came and was not what we ordered, and quite frankly, was awful. We left, star I g and went to another restaurant down the street. I've been eating at this restaurant for a couple years and have never experienced this poor service or food. Will not be going back. Many other good choices in Benicia to choose from. First time here...the sign said it was closed, but we tried the door and it was open...we didn't see anyone working, but a customer was sitting at a table, said they were open and we could sit inside or out...we decided to give it a try..we sat out back, very nice..service started out slow, we weren't sure we had a server, but then...Joshua came over and nailed it! He is a wonderful server and it has been along time since we have received service like he provided. The food was pretty good, most of us enjoyed our meal. Those that were less than thrilled, tasted from the other plates and will go back and order something else...tacos were great, parmesan chicken yummy! Yelp really needs to offer two categories for stars (food and service) because this was a tough one. The food was an easy 4 star if not 5 BUT the service was a 1 at best. The waitress was down right terrible at her job and it was obvious she didn't care (I guess that's why I think she only had two tables to worry about). We never were asked what we wanted to drink and watched as other people who came in 15plus mins later got there food (all of them had a different waitress) first. While waiting at least 35 mins or so I observed our waitress Jolisa on her cellphone several times and even at one point watched her pop out of the back and look to see if any customers were watching while she took a quick selfie. FINALLY the food came which was very good (fish tacos). I had to actually ask her for more water (remember we were never asked what we wanted to drink, luckily another employee gave us water in the beginning) and yup you guessed it I NEVER got it. We will be back for the food and I know Randy expects more from his employees but if she is there I won't even bother and just go elsewhere. read more

We went for brunch with a group of about 10. Sat in the back on the patio. Flies were a problem. A simple fly trap could have solved that. Service was good enough. My fiance and I decided to eat here last night, our 2nd date was here, I believe almost 4 yrs ago I thought then it was an Italian restaurant. So more reminiscent of our 2nd date we stopped in to dine. NEVER AGAIN! First off they were busy on both sides and they sat us outside with a full patio as well. There were 3 large parties of 8, plus a 4 top and then us a 2 top. Joshua was our server. My fiance a business owner, and myself 25+ years in customer service were appalled by the lack luster of customer service and quality or lack off quality on the food. Both were miserably insufficient last evening. We were ignored the whole time we were there and our food was cold when it reached our table, in between courses our plates weren't cleared, if they had Peppermill grinders we certainly weren't offered but I can't tell you that they would have helped the cold coaggulated gravy that sat on top of my fiancé s chic fried stk. Noticing the coaggulated gravy as it was delivered very abruptly to our table I asked Joshua for an extra gravy, but it was not delivered for almost 10 minutes, when Joshua tried to up sell my fiance more alcohol as he was the rest of the tables on the patio, my fiance reminded him about the gravy at which point Joshua let out a spoiled brat sigh and stomped away to retrieve it. I was not there I was in the restroom, when I returned my fiance was done, everything was cold. He brought my fiance someone else's salad, so I waited to eat my soup, because we are dining together for my birthday, needless to say when his salad finally reached the table my soup was cold. Horrible experience, I can justify all day long for this young man, too many tables? Section too big? His demeanor with patrons was subpar, he spoke to patrons as if they were his peers, offering shots to parties, alcoholic beverages as if that would help his bottom line. We payed our bill but DID NOT LEAVE A TIP! I instead left my # telling management to call, haven't received any response, so this tells me they don't care! Eat at your own risk, Joshua is the worst server I have ever encountered in my lifetime and bc of his ineptitude of customer service this establishment will never be taken seriously when he's taking on more than he can chew and is a sorry representative, he might be qualified for washing dishes but I highly doubt it. 907 he's serving your food cold and doesn't care, and bc you don't follow up with management walking around asking patrons how their food is, why not throw the towel in now, bury your heads in the ground! I went in so wanting to love this new cafe. The decor was right on the mark for me. Old photos of Benicia with a comfortable amount of tables vs square footage. The staff was pretty attentive although a bit timid. The food was lacluster. My girlfriends benedict was prepared good but the hashbrowns were cold. My omelette was clearly done well before hers because everything on my plate was cold. We found it interesting that a gentleman came in with his own coffee in a paper cup before sitting at what he called "his regular table". As I tallied up my bill, I had to question how we ran our tab to nearly $30 for an okay breakfast. As if the high cost of my frozen platter wasn't enough, we were gouged $3.98 each for some "very" average coffee. As we hit the sidewalk, I tried to calm down my girlfriend as she screamed "we'll never go back". read more

First, I'd like to say that I have been to this restaurant at least four times prior to my visit on Friday, 02/05/16. Each time the food was cooked to perfection and the service was exceptional. This could have been a five star review but this visit was such a disappointment. I do not know what happened. We were a party of 9. Let me start with...... the waiter, Luis. There were numerous times when we wondered where he was because he would be gone for so long. I understand he may have been waiting on other tables in the back but when he did wait on us, it felt rushed and he gave off a passive-aggressive vibe, not to mention comments he made. He was the main reason I decided not to have my entrée redone. I ordered the Rib eye steak, medium-well. It was overcooked and dry. I didn't want to say anything but after the fourth bite I couldn't eat anymore so I advised the waiter, Luis. He said ok and took my plate to the kitchen. I thought that a new steak was being prepared. Luis returned approximately 2-3 minutes later and stated, "We temperature tested your steak and it was medium well. So, would you us to re-make it?" I was thinking, you temperature tested a steak that just sat in front of me for at least 10 minutes? I was somewhat offended by his comment and attitude so I advised him I didn't want anything at all. My brother-in-law also ordered the Rib eye and his was dry. After hearing what Luis said to me, he didn't want his entrée either. My sister ordered the bacon wrapped filet mignon. There was no bacon wrapped around the steak. Luis asked if she would like him to bring her two strips of bacon or if she wanted it re-done. Really??? I think I've said enough. I love Nine O Seven Grill but I was very disappointed this night. I do plan to patronize this establishment again ONLY because of the past visits. I just hope the experience is not the same. read more

We were excited to try this new spot. Nice decor. We arrived at 11:45 on a Sunday. The place was less than half full but staff seemed confused about who was taking what order and ran frantically around; we waited more than 10 minutes for someone to take our order. This was followed by a 45 minute wait for food (California Eggs Benedict and Biscuits and Gravy...really?). When our food finally arrived, they served me Eggs Benedict without the California and didn't bring my husband part of his order. His gravy had a few sausage sprinkles and wasn't very good. My eggs weren't properly cooked with very runny whites. Not impressed and very disappointed. We really wanted to like it. I hope its just opening jitters and they clean up their act. AWESOME FOOD-CRAPPY SERVICE! I would recommend this place but don't place you expectations too high on the service. The food was amazing, some of the best we have around here. My fiancé ordered a rib eye steak that was cooked perfectly and tasted awesome. I got the tortilini with chicken which was also very good. Nice little place to eat. I noticed many people waiting for tables and the front was ran by only one waitress and the hostess. We had three empty glasses for most of our meal (two waters and a soda). We live within walking distance to Downtown Benicia so we would frequent the local business as we would like it to thrive. This is a new restaurant with the owner Randy's who also owns one of the local's favorite Mexican restaurant down the street. We read the menus on the window, we sat down, soon the find out breakfast is no longer available because they have ran out of breakfast ingredients. We waited sometime to order food as there appears to be short of help but then there are quite a few people walking around in black t-shirts logo Randy. It took over 30 minutes for a salad and a sandwich to come and that's with us asking when is the food going to come? The sandwich was short of wasabi mayonnaise and the salad was missing Feta Cheese. Perhaps they are still working out the kinks, I recommend going there only if you have a lot of time to wait, and don't mind not having full complimentary listed menu selections. read more

We ordered the eggs benedict the first time about 1 month ago. Large portions, hot, fresh and taste good. Also had the coconut cake. It was the best coconut cake I have and my guest has ever had. Service was very slow from beginning to end 1 hr and 45 min. Went again today had sandwiches with sweet potato fry. Taste good, large portions and fresh. Had to have the coconut cake again. Sounds to me like Rodney p has a problem with the owner and uses yelp to try and hurt his business. Why bring up and bash another restaurant of Randy's. This is a new restaurant so of course you gotta work out the kinks, however I have never had more tender chicken and those pork wings are to die for. Randy catered our wedding just a week ago with some of these same foods and everyone RAVED about how good it was, so I reccomend trying it for yourself and not letting someone with personal issues sway your opinion of the food. Um. Nope, nope, nope. Never again.... We ordered the shrimp ceviche. That was a huge mistake. It was old, like at least a day. I found several of the shrimp with the shells still attached. The tortilla chips were stale, like bad stale. But the worst part was the hair, long black course hair I had to fish out from between my teeth. My husband and I both ordered salad. He liked his, but my Shrimp Louis was meh. Store bought salad dressing. Eh, fine, but not for $10 bucks. And the hard boiled egg still had pieces of shell on it. The service was abysmal. Granted the young girl was sweet, but she forgot to bring me the beer I ordered. Then didn't remove any plates from the table. So by the time we were finished eating, we were swamped with plates. This is soooo basic. Seriously, food service 101. This part is not the restaurants fault, but it was really loud in there. All the tables were full and the acoustics were terrible. My husband and I sat in silence the whole time, unable to hear anything each other said. I predict this will be another failed Benicia restaurant. Had the Salmon Ceaser Today and I have had this twice before. The first time I had it it was great, the second time the salmon was a little undercooked and this last time the salmon was over cooked and smelled fishy. Never again and not for the prices they charge. Didn't even bother to complain because the wait staff seemed very disinterested in serving their customers. read more
