Sat at the bar, Matt was bartending, he was so friendly made a legit perfect lemon drop martini, the manhattan was also excellent. We ordered some poutine fries, crab cake, house meatballs, all the food was amazing, we met the chef he stopped by to say Hi, the whole experience was wonderful. They have a happy hour menu with some deals. My favorite part was the rolling carts of food! Perfect date night spot!

I have to be honest here; we've been to nineteen 86 now three times. The first couple times was a long while back and thought give it. Another try and see if it was an alternative to the other restaurant we frequent. It's not going to be on our list! Wait staff was great! The atmosphere was stiff, being its suppose to be not as formal as our formal. Had the prime rib special and were suppose to be 12 oz. ( a bit larger) (NO COMPLAINTS THERE) Tough, cooked properly. Flavor was good! The potato skins were gritty and just were not that exciting! The desert was complimentary and who would complain (it was cold in the center). It was the bread pudding! The Mediterranean Salad wasn't as expected it was a medley of cut vegetables in oil. (No lettuce) The atmosphere was understated. It was a Birthday dinner and they brought a table tent after the seating for Happy Birthday! (Why indicate on the reservation) kind of took away from the event! Okay a bit disjointed with the comments. While not the greatest evening it was quiet and peaceful. (I did share with staff that the bread pudding was cold). I hope you have a great experience!

Dining at the Nineteen 86 Steakhouse inside the casino proved to be a perplexing experience--an evening full of inconsistencies that, while not disastrous, left the table unsettled and underwhelmed. Service & Atmosphere The evening began with an unusual lull: nearly ten minutes passed before anyone approached to take drink orders. Bread followed another ten minutes later, though curiously, a basket sized for only two diners was brought to a table of four. A larger basket eventually arrived, but the initial misstep set the tone--minor oversights adding up to a disjointed rhythm. Service throughout the evening was polite but lacked attentiveness, leaving guests to navigate awkward plating mishaps on their own. Starters The French onion soup carried good flavor but missed the depth that comes from a proper wine base; the broth felt thin, and the cheese topper leaned heavy and imbalanced. The lobster bisque arrived blisteringly hot--so much so that tasting it immediately was nearly impossible. While capped with an attractive pastry dome, the excessive heat muted enjoyment. Escargot brought another oddity: the flavors were there, but the breadcrumb-heavy presentation strayed from tradition and distracted more than it delighted. Entrées Steakhouse fundamentals are where one hopes for redemption, yet execution here was mixed. An 18-ounce ribeye arrived unexpectedly bone-in, explained as "the standard presentation," though this wasn't communicated on the menu. The rib cap, a cut typically presented with a signature swirl, was instead plated like a strip steak. Cooked properly to medium-rare and flavorful, yes, but visually at odds with expectations. A far stranger misstep came when king crab legs ordered by another guest were mistakenly plated beneath the ribeye--requiring diners to awkwardly separate surf from turf without staff intervention. Such oversights undermine the polish one expects from a prime steakhouse. Sides The lobster mac & cheese, delivered after entrées were already served, highlighted timing issues in the kitchen. Generous in lobster but hindered by dense, stringy cheese and slightly underdone pasta, the dish felt more clumsy than indulgent. Verdict Nineteen 86 Steakhouse is not without merit--the steaks were cooked correctly, the bread was satisfying, and certain flavors showed promise. Yet the evening was marred by inconsistent pacing, atypical and sometimes confusing presentations, and service lapses that placed the burden on the guests. This is not the worst steakhouse experience by any means, but at this level and setting, expectations are higher. In short: a jerky, uneven dinner service with flashes of quality that never coalesced into a refined whole.

    Dinner

I took Joanna to the Nineteen 86 Steakhouse at the Desert Diamond Casino owned by the Tohono O'odham Nation last night. I had a perfect Caesar salad and the dry aged 22 ounce bone-in ribeye. The steak was tender and delicious. I had the thermador tater skins, which were amazing! Joanna had the 8 ounce Waygu filet, medium rare. Her filet was tender, juicy, delicious and perfect. Joanna loved it! She also had buttered whipped potatoes. Our server, April, was excellent and she patiently answered our questions: "What is dry aged; what does Waygu mean; what is the significance of the name Nineteen 86?" Joanna loved the ambiance, the service and the food.

Update (5 years later): Still exceptional. We returned to Nineteen86 Steakhouse on Christmas Day around 5:45 PM as a party of four, and once again, this place absolutely delivered. When we arrived, there was a small hiccup with our OpenTable reservation. It showed three guests on the restaurant end even though we had added a fourth beforehand on OpenTable. Our host explained that the update never reached their system, but she handled it immediately and graciously accommodated all four of us without hesitation. This was impressive on a busy holiday. I wish I had caught the names of our servers because they truly deserve recognition. Our main server and a female server who stepped in midway through our courses worked seamlessly together, very much in tandem. Both were attentive, patient, and incredibly detail-oriented. Water was always available, timing between courses was spot-on, and check-ins felt thoughtful. They were also wonderful about explaining the Christmas set menu, which was new for my daughter, and made her feel completely comfortable asking questions. The food was outstanding. The prime rib was melt-in-your-mouth tender, the maple bacon pecan tart appetizer ( I think that was the name) was rich and delicious, and the cheesecake completely won my daughter over. By the time we finished our meal, we were so full we had to take some home. Even as leftovers, the quality absolutely held up. Re-warmed with the au jus, the prime rib was still incredibly flavorful and tender, which speaks volumes about the care and technique behind the dish. Holidays or special occasions, we happily drive out of Sierra Vista to dine here, and this Christmas visit reminded us exactly why. Consistency like this (in both food and service) is rare. Thank you to the entire team for making our Christmas dinner so special. We'll absolutely be back.

I originally came cuz I saw this lobster tagliatelle dish but I actually wasn't too hungry and was going to the Drunk Pirates show after so I didn't want to be weighed down. The catch of the day was a sea bass which sounded great and over a succotash with a pork gastrique with corn nut crunch. And OMG when I say this was prob the best succotash I've ever had. Super crunchy fresh corn, asparagus, snap peas and bell peppers. The sea bass was also cooked great, very crispy skin and glaze. I'm literally thinking about it now. I also ended up getting the Lost in the Woods dessert which was a delicate chocolate mousse on shortbread with like a candied hazelnut and cookie dust. Every bite was heavenly. I wish I could've tried the other desserts too. I would literally come back to Phoenix just to eat here again. I think his name was J. He is a big part of the reason the visit was so special. The food was mostly excellent. I got a petite filet and lobster tail with Caesar salad and fried brussel sprouts. I do love them crunchy and they were. The salad barely had any dressing. It would have been better with a little more. My fault for not asking. Now the steak; my whole reason for the trip. Honestly, a little disappointing. The cut was beautifully tender. That why I love a good filet. Unfortunately, there was very little caramelization on the outside. I would have enjoyed more. Also, there didn't seem to be very much seasoning. I like it a little more on the salty side, but I am sure others don't. I'm sure I could request it next time. Last, the lobster tails made up for any possible shortcomings in anything else. It is rare, that I have one as perfect as these were. Absolute heaven! Sure, I'll be back. I was given the new GM's name and phone number, but despite multiple calls and text messages, I was completely ghosted. This left me scrambling to find another venue with only one month before an important family celebration. No customer should be left hanging like that after booking an event. This was actually my second chance giving Lola's another opportunity because I genuinely like the vibe of the place. The first time, my group of only six people was still enjoying drinks when staff told us we had to leave at 11:00 p.m. because there wasn't enough business to justify staying open. From the great wood grain basement dark ambience to to the raw, regular bar, and multiple sit-down options, we have tried it all. The allure of trying to find a place down in a basement where you have to find the right elevator was pretty bad ass. The hosts along with the waitresses and bar tenders are always welcoming and knowledgeable about their food and drink. I also think it is cool that you can get lockers to store your expensive liquor for return trips. We often come here for drinks and oysters, because my wife loves oysters and they have a wide range of options that aren't exactly cheap, but don't break the bank for freshness and taste. I only really mark down the rating because the menu has been stale over the years and they used to offer elk that is no longer available. Now call that pretentions or snooty, but I think they could use some unique options to keep the experience moving each time you come in. Also, I feel a restaurant of this caliber should be evolving to match their cool vibe and unique experience. I usually get the Wren house beer but feel the beer optiosn are limiting I also feel like some of their cocktails are overpriced, but they are unique compared to other places, so maybe I am just cheap. So really this rating should be more a 4.5. What really brings you back is the cool art on the wall with a Theodore Roosevelt slant and cool sitting areas like a sofa setting in what looks like it would be his old school library. Don't get me wrong everything I have eaten here has been good, but nothing hearkens back like that elk. This place makes for an amazing tinder date if you are willing to drop that cash and make that impression, come here then hop on over to Valley bar and she will think you are magician of illusive locations if she hasn't already been there.
