Blue Zoo Aquarium in Spokane is a must-visit destination for families and marine life enthusiasts…read more The aquarium offers a diverse range of exhibits, from colorful tropical fish to mesmerizing jellyfish, providing an up-close and educational experience with various aquatic species. The staff is knowledgeable and passionate, ensuring a memorable and enjoyable time for all visitors. With its convenient location and affordable pricing, Blue Zoo Aquarium Spokane is an excellent choice for a fun and engaging outing. Pro tip: I booked my session using GetOutPass, where I get access to multiple local venues similar to GoCity. Use coupon code: sale1 for an extra $5 discount on top of existing promotions

Based on all the positive reviews, I finally decided to give Blue Zoo a try. And it was,…read moredepressingly, about what you'd expect from a for-profit aquarium in a shopping mall. The animal enclosures are tiny. Like, alarmingly small. (They had the poor electric eel was crammed into a tank barely larger than he was.) And some of them clearly hadn't been cleaned in awhile. (The axolotl tank, in particular, was in desperate need of cleaning, with streamers of green algae growing on all of its surfaces.) It was also an interesting choice to stick a jungle gym/play area right in the middle of everything, so that the animals are inundated with the happy screams of children all day long. That's nothing against the kids, but it demonstrates where Blue Zoo's priorities seem to be. To their credit, the staff seemed to be trying. But there is simply not enough space for this place to be what it's trying to be. Any worthwhile zoo, large or small, needs to balance the needs of its animals with the needs of its visitors. Tragically, Blue Zoo fails to find that balance. I had hoped that the positive reviews on this place were accurate. I used to live near an aquarium, and dearly miss visiting it. But places like this are not the answer. If your family loves animals, take them on a road trip to Woodland Park Zoo or Point Defiance Aquarium; places where the animals are professionally cared for. As for Blue Zoo, all I can say is this: please don't give these guys your money.

I didn't get a chance to see the rest of the park due to the fact that I was her Maid of Honor and it was drizzling outside. I loved the fact that the gazebo was so large. The wedding was fantastic and the reception immediately after went off without a hitch. On my next visit I hope to see more of the park!

Mission Park is a 13 acre park very conveniently located walking distance from Gonzaga University…read moreand the heart of the Logan neighborhood. If you find yourself on campus and looking for a more kid friendly area (aka slides and splash pads) I would recommend a walk on down to the park! It has a large bank of tennis courts (with evening play available due to the lights!). It also has a pool! Many times when I've been here there is some kind of swimming competition occurring in the pool. Last time I stopped by they had some new fitness play equipment for adults. I have an interest in unique playground equipment so I thought this was pretty cool considering the retirement facility located right on the edge of the park. You can grab picnic supplies at the nearby Safeway or takeout from the nearby Thai restaurant and enjoy the beautiful summer weather in Spokane. I frequently see people picnicking here. One really important part of Mission Park that I must mention is the memorial to Otto Zehm. He was a mentally-ill man killed by the Spokane police in 2006. The simple memorial was placed in 2012 as part of a settlement with the city of Spokane. As a community it is important to remember the legacy of Otto Zehm and I think a visit to this memorial is an important visit for any local or tourist.
