The soup tasted great awesome with a hint of spicy. Other thing isIn myTakoyaki tasted more like flours rather than squid but still delicious wish it has more squid. Ice Matcha Latte is also great, not too bitter even without add liquid sugar. They also provide small cup of liquid sugar in case if you like sweet. The price is also reasonable. The restaurant environment is very calm the day I went. Maybe because it was rainy day. I had heard that sometime restaurant can be quite busy which may make my experience different. Walked in an hour before closing on a Wednesday night mid February. It was a chilly night indeed and I wanted something to warm me up. Their wide variety of tea/caffeine brought me here. We were immediately greeted & welcomed with a smile by the female host. The room is long, spacious, filled with wood which makes it very simple and gives subtle zen vibes. What throws off the zen vibe though, is the choice of background music. No melodious or yoga/meditation music - this is a restaurant after all, not a tea room. As we sat we were offered 3 choices - one of which was complimentary hot tea. We ordered : Macha Latte (hot / whole milk) : foam on top is debatable - felt and/or tasted powdery : had a leaf design; comes unsweetened but in its own tray accompanied with different types of sugar ; Macha Cheesecake : good sized portion; very thin, soft, crust (almost unnoticeable), served cool, not overwhelmingly Macha flavor; served w/fluffy sweet whipped cream and heart shaped strawberries. Absolutely enjoyable. Staff were attentive and professional. Price point is surprisingly on the lower end. They have a minimum on credit / debit card transactiona (booo). It's a 5 mins walking distance from Long Island railroad bayside station. It's a clean and comfortable restaurant. The service is good, and people are friendly and attentive. Overall the food is good. The taste is decent, and the portion is ok. It's not like a special treat for your stomach, but it's nice to have clean, fresh warm food without big flaws. We made a reservation for a party of 9 and they were able to easily accommodate us. The food came in a timely manner after we put in our orders. No one had any complaints about their food. I had ordered the tochucha ramen and I was delightfully suprised. The broth was light, made with tea and I think soy sauce. It was a nice change from the usual heavier meat based broths. The geso fry was really good, super crunchy and a nice seaweed seasoning on top. I also ordered a matcha yuzu lemonade and it was really good, it was definitely very yuzu forward and didn't have much matcha flavor but I didn't mind. It was very refreshing. Others in our party have eaten here in the past (years ago) and they said that they have improved the quality of their food. Overall I would come back if I ever get a craving. read more

Nippon Cha has been in my bucket list for months and it's totally worth a try! We highly recommend to make a reservation since it's really popular. The food was amazingly delicate, delicious and we can feel how much the chef cares about what they cook. Our favorite was Unatama set which was el and scramble egg in skillet with miso soup, salad, side and chawanamushi (Japanese steam egg). The el was well flavored, tender and a great match with rice. Their service was also friendly and attentive. We ordered their ribeye steak and it came in well done, super chewy so we made a complaint to the staff. Food is delicious and perfectly portioned; decor is inviting and comfortable; staff is always sweet and eager to make your meal a good experience. Over the years I find myself going back again and again for all occasions: weekday dinner, weekend treat, date night, GNO, birthdays, celebrations. Any of their warm bowls of noodles hit the spot every time. Portions are generous and sometimes I have food to bring home. Appetizers are served super hot and fresh. The chicken appetizer is fried perfectly and so flavorful! The gyoza is juicy on the inside, and crispy on the outside. The cold noodle bowl is such a treat on a hot summer day, I've had it a few times sitting outdoors during COVID summer, and also as take-out at home. The chicken is not dry at all. Onigiris are fresh and packed neatly. Even the cup of tea they serve as you sit down is steeped hot and flavorful. Both the matcha and tochucha ice cream flavors are rich and fragrant, mochi is made in-house and fresh every time, along with the little jelly cubes! Nippon Cha is one of my all-time favorite spots for some good ramen, Japanese appetizers and drinks. My family has dined here multiple times, usually on the weekends for lunch/dinner. We got extremely lucky this past weekend, specifically Saturday afternoon, as we found parking right outside the restaurant. Make sure you check-in for a free Yuzu lemonade! We've tried the pork gyoza, Tonkotsu Ramen, Uni Chawanmushi, grilled squid, udon, sashimi and some others I can't recall. While the uni chawanmushi was a bit over-steamed when we had it, I find that other dishes are consistently well-made. My LO loves their gyoza and ramen. I particularly love the fact that they make Tochucha (tea) ramen. It's an extra $1 but so worth it! The staff are also attentive and friendly and the space is very open and modern. We like sitting by the window where it is sort of sectioned off from the rest of the space so that my LO can make as much noise as she wants. My go to ramen restaurant in queens that I've been coming to for years now! On multiple occasions, I've tried to branch out and try different places, but I feel my cravings truly satisfied only when I get my ramen at Nippon Cha. My most ordered dish is the tonkotsu ramen with egg noodles, which comes with a flavorful buttery broth and tender, melt-in-your-mouth pork. My sister always gets the tochucha udon which comes with tempura and a broth, perfect for the cold winter days. The restaurant is cute to sit in and they also have beautiful matcha drinks and desserts. I've also tried their other ramens, as well as their curry katsu and yaki udon/soba, which are pretty good choices when you aren't feeling broth. I mainly do take out here since parking near bell can be a nightmare. But a solid ramen spot with decent prices and portion sizes when you don't feel like venturing out to the city. read more

I wouldn't say their ramen is the best, but for the price, you're getting a good bowl with great ambiance. Their tea noodles are unique and worth trying ($1 more), but what I really enjoyed about each of my visits at Nippon Cha is the interior design which is a good change of pace compared to other restaurants on Bell Blvd. Eating here feels far calmer and unrushed, which can't be said about the restaurants near it. I strongly recommend the yuzu soda, really enjoyed the chili tuna tataki, but would advise against the tatsuta age unless your taste buds are expiring. It didn't taste like anything, and when applying the lemon and the sauce, the flavor barely improved. The coating is similar to tempura but even lighter. It's like karaage but for senior citizens who hate salt. If you're in the mood for dons, the kurosu buta is excellent, the grilled salmon is good, but I would pass on the tonkatsu. Overall, I love this place because of the decor, environment, and above average fare. For this price range, I'd give the food a 4 but everything else a 5. read more

Perfect for a cold night and if you are craving ramen. Been meaning to try Nippon Cha forever and so glad i came with the family to try some dishes. We ordered the Negi, Tonkatsu ramen and donburi set to share. The chicken katsu was cooked really nicely and fried well. Good portion size, so was the ramen though my brother and dad ordered extra ramen on the size. I probably could have as well but we are big eaters. Normally tonkatsu is the way to go for me but since Negi said it would have a little spice i went for that one and the broth was so flavorful, I made the right decision. It really irks me when restaurants give you much less if you order delivery instead of dine-in or pickup in person. I came here in person for takout and ordered the salmon donburi a while ago. They gave me two thick pieces of salmon. I ordered the salmon donburi via delivery and I got two really thin pieces of salmon. I thought ok, maybe it was just a fluke. I now just gave it another try and again got two thin pieces of salmon. If you look at the pics on yelp, you get two thick good-looking pieces when you dine-in. You basically get all the leftovers when you get delivery. I would skip this place if you plan on ordering delivery. Intro: My girlfriend and I picked this place because we were craving ramen for dinner but couldn't eat until late. Last we checked, the hours listed on Google Maps were incorrect so be sure to call as they might be open even if Google says they are not. We both thought this place was very delicious and so we came back. Since we arrived after normal dinner hours, we didn't have to wait to get seated. Food: Spicy shio ramen: The first time we went, I ordered the spicy shio ramen (pictured). The ramen is indeed spicy so take note before you order. Everything was delicious and what you expect from a great ramen place. But I think the true highlight are the ramen noodles that are super delicious since it's soaked in tea. It adds more flavor to what you would normally assume to be a relatively flavorless component of ramen. Unagi donburi bowl: The second time we went, I wanted to explore and so I tried their unagi donburi bowl. The serving size was decent and they were quite generous with their unagi and seafood. The rice was warm and delicious and the egg was cooked to perfection. However, I definitely think the star of the place is their ramen with the tea noodles. Matcha tiramisu (pictured): This is a special temporary seasonal item. You wouldn't think matcha would go well with tiramisu, but it works really well and adds a new dimension to the classic tiramisu flavor. Tl;dr: Hidden gem with delicious tea, ramen, and other foods. I wasn't planning to come online this afternoon, but I decided to Nip On and review Nippon. I mean, there's Cha in the name so I thought the tea would be awesome... it wasn't. But a lot of other people love it so what do I know? I wanted to be impressed by this, and the prices are very high at this sit-down tea-and-dessert spot in Bayside on the edge of Queens, and the service wasn't even bad and actually kind of nice - but the drink was so disappointing and watery and not what I'm into. That's okay because I think everybody else loves it enough for me to not like it and for my dislike not to make a drop in the ocean. This place is pretty good! The Ginger Pork was stir-fried but not too oily. Usually ginger dishes are a bit overpowering but this was balanced so that you could taste each individual ingredient. It paired well with rice. The Tochucha Ramen included their own house made tea-infused ramen. The noodles were fragrant and had a slight aftertaste of tea but again not too overpowering. I've had my fair share of matcha lattes and this place has good quality tea. I'm not surprised because the name of the restaurant has the word "cha" in it which means tea. I'm deducting a star because I went on a Thursday night and it wasn't too busy and the service was okay. First, we had three different waitresses attend to us. One waitress initially wanted to sit us right by the door but it was freezing and we asked to be sit more inside. She sat us a few tables away from the door and it was still chilly. They forgot one of our entrees (the ramen noodles) and we had to bring it their attention. Another waitress (whom I think was new) wasn't that attentive and didn't refill our tea or ask us if we wanted anything else. We actually wanted dessert and she walked away very quickly. She also got us two different sized to go containers for our leftover ramen. One big size and one small size- didn't really make sense. I'm not faulting her entirely since she seems young and new. Nippon Cha is a quaint little ramen joint located on the ever popular (i.e. super busy) Bell Blvd. My group of 6 made reservations for dinner this week and enjoyed our experience. For starters, we shared orders of Pork Buns, Takoyaki (octopus balls with bonito flakes), & Tako Fry (deep fried baby octopus). The Pork Buns were tasty & contained a nice slice of pork inside a pillowy bun. The Takoyaki was probably my favorite of the 3 and was brought our rip roaringly hot - so bite into it with caution. You can taste the octopus, but it didn't taste funky or overpower the taste buds. The Tako Fry was pretty much like fried calamari, so if you enjoy calamari, you should like the tako as well. For my entrée, I opted for the tea noodles in a negi ramen (Spicy pork broth, topped with egg, chashu pork, bamboo shoots, and scallion) to which I also added some corn. The broth was spicy but not overpoweringly so. The pork slices were tender, and all of the ingredients complimented one another. I wouldn't have minded a little more sliced pork, but the price was fair for what you get. All in all, it tasted wonderful and definitely hit the spot. We didn't order any dessert, as we had plans after dinner but, they did bring over one slice of complimentary matcha cheesecake. It had the unmistakable taste of matcha, but not too much, and it really matched well as a cheesecake flavor. Our server was timely in checking on us and friendly as well. The venue is not huge but it's not tiny or cramped either. Parking can sometimes be a challenge in this area, so build in extra time if you are coming here during prime dining hours. Come for the ramen!! I've tried different broths and I have to say that their chicken shio (R11) was one of the best ones I've had. The tochucha noodles I chose were really good as I def tasted the tea flavor coming through. For $13 a bowl, it's a decent price for ramen so nothing to complain there. Customer service was phenomenal - I placed a reservation 2 hours before for a party of 12 and they had the table ready 5 min beforehand AND they treated us to free ice cream and noodles for getting one of our orders wrong. The matcha soba was surprisingly good - it's a light and refreshing change if you're craving for noodles but not with a hot broth. The chicken wing appetizer (3 pieces per order) had little hints of honey and lemon that gave it some jazz but a little oily. The matcha latte was definitely authentic as I needed to pour almost all the syrup for it not to be as bitter as it originally was. The matcha ice cream was very good (not too bitter or sweet) and from its heavy green color, you knows that it's authentic and not just mostly milk. Their koucha ice cream was even better though as it had such a unique tea flavor (like a mix of roasted green tea and tapioca). The people that ordered their rice dishes didn't seem to like the meal as much as the people who ordered ramen so I'd say that they are better for their noodles than rice bowls. read more

It is very hard to find good Japanese food in Flushing and Bayside and everything on the Nippon Cha menu looks carefully crafted and authentic. The restaurant is on a stretch of Bell Boulevard which is sometimes closed off to pedestrians so its also cool you can walk around with no dust and exhaust fumes affecting your meal. They have indoor dining and an outdoor dining setup. The restaurant itself although not too big had a serene feel and I liked the sake bottles adorning the walls. I had takeout and ordered the the curry katsu don and it comes in a nice looking bowl with a special design and color albeit plastic but sturdy and looks like the style of bowl you would get in a restaurant. My meal came with crispy chunks of sliced pork cutlet perfectly fried and seasoned. It came with a nice side salad with lettuce, yellow pickled daikon radish, radicchio, cherry tomatoes and really fresh and crunchy cucumber slices. The curry gravy was very flavorful and not too spicy and just the right consistency. The rice it came with was a bit hard not sure if it was recooked so that was my least favorite part of the dish but the curry fixed that and I also wish the food was warmer but I dunno if its because they want to serve it room temp so that it doesn't wilt the fresh salad because it came in the same bowl as the main entree and the steam might compromise the crunchiness of the fried pork cutlet. It was also accompanied by a miso soup which was a little bit salty maybe from the bonito/ seaweed flavor but was definitely traditional miso. They also have many ramen dishes but I did not order any this time because of the summer weather and I did not want anything too hot and would rather eat it in the restaurant. They have an assortment of special tea items curated from japan and even tea noodles and many special matcha tea desserts and drinks I hope to try in the future. They also have the traditional fried karaage chicken and pork buns for appetizers. The unagi rice and sets and also many of their other entrees looked very good but just a tad on the pricey side. I have to say Nippon Cha is one of the best Japanese restaurants I have ever been to in Queens. I have been here so many times that I lost count. My go-to order is always the salmon teriyaki bento box. I just love the teriyaki sauce that is infused with butter. I tried to make it at home but I just cannot seem to get the flavor profile. Great outdoor dining space. Enclosed but with windows and we sat right next to one. Tables are spaced well apart. Love how they've incorporated tea in to some of the dishes! I got the Pan-fried soba noodles with cooked salmon in cod roe cream sauce and matcha powder. I DEVOURED it. It was creamy without being too heavy and you got just the right amount of cod roe. The matcha has a nice finish without overpowering the other flavors. I just wish there was more salmon in the dish. Also got the yuzu wings which were DELISH.
