Great staff, white rose is good but a tad too sweet even for me haha But the Honey lavender latte, mm yum and delicious, the perfect amt of sweetness Street parking only!

As someone who loves coffee, I'm always looking for new places to try, so I stopped by Nirvana Coffee while I was downtown. I ordered the Mabuhay Ube Latte (espresso, milk, ube, and coconut), and it was such a treat. The flavors were incredibly well balanced--none of them overpowered the others. It had just the right amount of sweetness without being overly sweet, allowing each ingredient to complement the espresso perfectly. The atmosphere was fun, welcoming, and lighthearted, making it a great place to relax. The staff was also genuinely friendly and made the experience even better. I'll definitely be back to try more of their menu!

Nirvana Soul has never failed me on their spectacular service, great vibes, and excellent food. They constantly support local artists and businesses, and their environment is perfect for anything creative you want to do on your laptop. There are some outlets throughout the floor. Going on a Friday morning, it is fairly quiet. I ordered a matcha latte and chocolate chip waffle. Chocolate chip waffle is something I've wanted to try. After eating the waffle, I would recommend the golden waffle over this. This waffle is too sweet for my liking. The matcha latte has always been consistent whenever I go here. I'm glad to have matcha latte with them in many mornings.

Caffeinate in downtown San Jose at this cultural spotlight, perhaps before or after a show at the theater next door! Nirvana Soul Coffee, squeezed tightly into the hustle and bustle of this South Bay city, hosts a two story shop decorated quaintly with beautiful artwork and humble cafe furniture. This busy spot invites locals to come in and park a while as they're sipping on flavorful coffee drinks and teas and being productive with complimentary WiFi. Seating is plentiful with their tables upstairs. Parking isn't too bad but can be sparse during peak hours. With the steady churn of traffic reflective of the city, it may feel a bit hectic but Nirvana's close to the public parking garages and some street parking (payment required before 6 pm). Once you've gotten situated, check out their menu of drinks and order at the register. After placing the order, head down the hall where they'll put out the drinks for pick up. They have a few flavored drinks in addition to those classic espresso drinks. Furthermore, they have whole beans as well as swag for purchase. Check out the rack to see the freshest offerings. This time around, I ordered the honey lavender latte and it was delicious. The rich boldness from the coffee paired well with the sweetness from the honey and the fragrance from the lavender activated all the senses to keep you salivating for more. Their staff are friendly, patient, and efficient. There weren't too much interactions aside from the order and pick up for me but from what I observed during their interactions with other patrons, they seem to be extremely welcoming. Overall, Nirvana checks all the boxes for a hip coffee shop for the busy professional or student. The coffees are tasty and very palatable. The prices are comparable to other coffee shops and the quality of drinks and service are above average. The atmosphere is comfortable for meetings with friends and work. It gets a bit noisy with the music that's playing and the constant flow of customers, but if those busy sounds help you focus, then you'll find that this spot will be perfect for you! Perhaps, this may be the Nirvana you've been seeking for!

Extremely cute coffee shop located in downtown San Jose. Nirvana Soul definitely brought the vibes with the music and all the artwork. They have a loft area upstairs with a lot of seating so you can get some work done. They offer unique latte options, and I decided to go with the Dirty Banana Chai. It was fantastic, and I will definitely run it back when I am visiting San Jose!

Stopped by Nirvana Soul Coffee in downtown San Jose today and really enjoyed the experience. The space has a lot of personality -- colorful, artsy, community-driven, and the kind of café that feels like more than just a coffee stop. You can tell it has a strong local identity. I ordered the iced honey lavender latte, and it was excellent. Refreshing, well-balanced, and not overly sweet, with a nice floral note from the lavender that made it feel a little different from the usual coffee shop order. I was there during an event, and the café worked surprisingly well for it. There was enough energy to feel lively, but it still felt comfortable enough to sit down, talk, and get some work done. The interior art, bright colors, and overall layout made the place feel creative and memorable. What stood out most to me was the atmosphere. Some coffee shops are functional, but Nirvana Soul feels expressive. It has character, community presence, and a setting that makes you want to stay a little longer. A great local stop for coffee, conversation, and a creative downtown San Jose vibe.

This is my second time trying Nirvana Soul, the first was at a work event in San Francisco and I was so happy to get to visit again at this downtown San Jose location. The cafe is welcoming with art everywhere, the menu has something for everyone and a lot of fun and unique flavor offerings. They also offer pastries. I ordered the white rose latte and my husband ordered the banana chai, both iced. While we were waiting we looked at the art in the cafe and within a few minutes we were on our way. The banana chai is wonderful, I'm not a big banana person but the flavor wasn't overpowering just a good mix of spicy chai with a bright sweetness from the banana (not laffy taffy sweetness or banana smoothie overpowering flavor) I would 100% order one of these in the future for myself. The white rose latte had a much lighter flavor than the chai, but was a great balance of espresso, sweet, and floral. It wasn't too sweet though and I loved how the floral flavor came through. Another great option. So happy we stopped in!

Im so glad my girlfriend and I found this spot in downtown San Jose! We ended up going with the banana chai and it was incredible. I'm usually a cold coffee person, but this tasted great as a hot drink. This drink is very rich, so if you would like to cut back on the richness, I would recommend it with oat milk instead of regular milk. I also ended up getting a chorizo con queso waffle, which was a waffle with chorizo pieces and cheese inside the waffle. Staff was patient with us and was helpful at explaining the menu. There is also a nice upstairs loft area that is perfect for studying and reading.

Super cute coffee shop with a nice lounging area upstairs. I love the artwork displayed throughout the store as well. The cashier was super nice and friendly and struck up conversation with me! I got the birthday cake iced latte and gave it a good mix but the you can only really taste the flavor in the first couple sips. The rest of the drink just tasted like regular coffee. Gave me a good amount of energy though. Would come back again to try their other cool flavors such as beet coffee!

A cool place to chill and have a latte. The staff is friendly and the place is jumping. Many peeps are milling around with a friend or two, while others are flying solo. There's an upstairs with an abundance of artwork. Support your local business is easy

Nice coffee shop, with good vibes and several items to choose from. I ordered the ube coconut latte with macadamia milk and it was perfectly balanced with a bold coffee flavor and sweetness.

Visiting from out of town, stumbled here on a walk and pleasantly surprised finding out this is a black owned business. Staff was kind and courteous, never rushing me and allowing me to ask questions. Music that was playing was wonderful, art work on the walls was great. My honey lavender latte and waffle were both so tasty. The waffle was the perfect size for a morning meal and I liked that it was savory but still came with syrup.

    Dirty Diana

I really loved the vibes of this coffee shop the second I walked in: warm, welcoming, bright, and inclusive. There's some seating on the first floor near the entrance and an upstairs area as well. We ordered the Dirty Diana (chai, espresso, milk and beet). Very tasty and I'm a sucker for pretty latte art. I love the unique options they have here, with lattes having fun ingredients ranging from beets to turmeric to ube. Yum. The store was also super kind because the barista had made an extra iced caramel latte, and they offered it to us at no charge. We accepted the offer and the latte was delicious and smooth and delightfully sweet from the caramel. We'll definitely be coming back to this coffee shop!

Ask the Community - Nirvana Soul Coffee

Do they have open open-mike comedy night?

Hello & yes! Every Friday night from 6PM-9PM in downtown San Jose :)

    Are y'all cashless?

Hello! We accept cash at our 1st Street, W Santa Clara, and Cupertino locations

How do the waffles fare overnight? I'm considering buying one to reheat and eat the next day (am not in the area, so can't come day-of).

Flavor will be there but you’ll lose some crispiness. Best to reheat in an air fryer. Also keep the box fully open when you get it so that it can cool down without steaming to help it stay crispy. Hope this helps!

Hi! Does your cafe have private/secure wifi? I am looking for a cafe to work remotely at, however I am unable to access the internet on a public network. Thanks in advance.

Hello! Our Nirvana Soul Guest wifi is open to customers without a password. Hope this helps!

Hello! Can I dine in with my pup? Do you have power outlet to charge my laptop if I decide to hangout longer?

You sure can! (Get them a pup cup while you’re here too!) We also have power outlets throughout the shop. See you soon!

Hello, I'm looking for a café to study, by any chance do you guys offer wifi?

Hello! We do offer WiFi in our cafes.

Hi! Are you accepting cash right now, or just card?

    Hello! We accept both.

Do you accept reusable cups? I am trying to reduce my waste and would love it if I could hand the baristas my cup when making the drink.

We do! Just be sure to bring your cup in already washed and clean.

Hi, do you have any vegan option on food or pastries?

Hello! We have a couple of vegan pastries, including a really good lemon blueberry muffin.

Where do you recommend parking? I'm completely lost whenever I'm in downtown but would love to check this place out!

Hi there! The city parking lots are free for the first 90 minutes. The closest one to us is on 2nd & San Carlos. Otherwise, metered parking on the streets, but it can be tough. Hope this helps!

Does this place take Apple Pay?

    Yes

Are your syrups (caramel, chocolate,etc..) dairy free?

Hi! All of our syrups are dairy free except our white chocolate syrup.

Are they doing online orders for pick up?

Hi! We’re only doing order ahead for traveler boxes. Still in-store only for drinks and food.

Do they make their own pastries?

Hi Ellvy! We get our pastries delivered fresh every morning from The French Spot.

What gluten free options do you have?

Hi! We just have a mochi cake for now. More options coming later.

Typically I like to bring my reusable glass with a stainless steel straw to places as an eco-friendly practice. Would I be allowed to have a barista use my reusable cup for my order instead of the plastic ones if I bring it?

Hi! We love that! Unfortunately, with COVID restrictions, we’re unable to fill reusable cups right now. We’ll let you know when things change.

Did they take phone orders for pick up?

Hi Melissa! No phone orders or delivery yet. We’re still doing in-store orders only.

What precautions are you taking for covid? So excited to try it!

Hi! Your safety is our priority! We’re only allowing ~6 people in store at a time, all of our baristas are wearing masks and gloves, and we have PPE shields around our entire bar. We’re also sanitizing between customers and only serving drinks in…

Can I bring my dog while picking up coffee? Would love to go on a long walk and pick up something to drink but also want to be respectful of your space.

Definitely!! It is a pet friendly place and the owners are dog lovers.

Is outdoor seating available for students?

Right outside the shop there's a few tables and chairs open to the public. However, there's a few that belong to the restaurant next door.

Slightly sweet white bread and generous amount of egg salad inside the sandwich. Creamy mayo taste that isn't too sour or tart, lots of egg in it. It wasn't crazy busy so it was easy to order through one of their two tablets and find a spot to sit. It is very spacious and filled with many tables, so even when busy you'll likely be able to find a spot. The menu is a bit messy to look at--there is a big menu hanging over the kiosks, another posted alongside where a line is formed, then the menu on the tablet kiosks themselves. It's a pretty big menu featuring primarily coffee-based drinks, matcha lattes, and a wide variety of food, so you'll likely find something appealing. I ordered their smoked salmon bagel (which rang up to about $16) and their matcha latte ($8); to be honest, neither were outstanding. The salmon and avocado in the bagel were great, but the bagel itself was a bit stale--for $16, it's a bit hard to swallow. The matcha was very milky, and there is another store offering better matcha drinks in the same plaza. I'll admit, though, it's a little on me for not picking coffee at a spot with "coffee" in the name. I will say, though, that the atmosphere in the main area is pretty good; the decor is understated but comfortable, and the lighting is good. The service is also solid--the servers are friendly and our order came out quickly. I will say that the bathroom feels ominous. Overall, it's a great spot to study; Big Mug is open late, has free Wi-Fi and a bathroom for customers, and offers both food and caffeinated drinks for longer study sessions. I feel that the prices vary widely for items but skew towards being too pricy for the quality, at least from my limited experience. I plan on coming back to give other items a try, but for now, it's not a favorite.

I remember when they had their other coffee shop down the way from the Alameda. I actually like that location better just because it was more of a homey environment, and I love how it was an old Victorian house where you walked up the stairs! So comforting warming feeling! This one looks like it used to be kind of a warehouse with very open spacious areas, but ample area for work if you can do digital work at a coffee house. Lol. The barista is working, seem to do their work rather quickly, but no small talk or anything. Maybe they had a long morning? The whole place was packed with customers hanging out and doing their own digital work as I was picking up 2 cups of coffee and checking out their Pastory scene. I got an ice red velvet latte which I've only seen at Bitter+ Sweet in Cupertino!! I also got a blended iced coffee drink! That was incredibly icy and smooth and totally hit the spot!! I will definitely come back here again since I didn't know they had breakfast options. I literally only came for coffee and a pastry today so I wish I knew about their breakfast beforehand. Lol I always got their coffee and then would go down the street to Cafe Roselinda for delicious breakfast burritos. Lol I love going to small little coffee shops that our family owned just like this one! They totally have a different vibe and I love their community board!! I will definitely be back!!

The coffee and tea is great here! I really enjoy their london fog, and their cold brew is better than average. Ambiance is fantastic for a coffee shop, with lots of seating options (single table, bar stools/counter and communal table seating, low volume music conducive to good conversation. Service is relatively fast to bring out the orders, but is self serve for the most part. Your order is called for you to pick up at the counter and with a self busing area in the back after you are done. Food is hit or miss. The pastries are for the most part good. The breakfast sandwich unfortunately was not so much the case. The eggs inside felt like they had been pre-fried and then microwaved. They were tough and chewy which made the cheese and egg breakfast sandwich inedible. The bagel was good, but the chewy eggs ruined it for me. I would still stop by for a good cup of joe or tea when in the area. It's a great place to meet friends and colleagues for informal work meetings too. Skip on the food menu, focus on the drinks.
