    Gin And Spaghetti

Classic Italian restaurants are getting harder to find like this one in downtown Highwood. It's been around for many years and probably doesn't look much different than it was back then. Nite N Gale has pretty much the type of drinks and food you expect: spaghetti and whatever. Good for a nice time out together, or out with the family. The prices have gotten higher, but the atmosphere and the quality of food is good so it's reasonable. After thinking about going somewhere for dinner, we chose here. It's located in downtown where there's a lot of newer places around it. This place may look kind of dumpy from the outside, but it's a lot better inside though. Looks old but it's clean. We got seats at the bar and the bartender got us drinks first. It's about $9 for the cheapest cocktail. Kind of expensive but these were pretty strong. Food wasn't incredible but it was good. It's $18 for spaghetti. Again, it was kind of expensive. The portions weren't bad at least. Good place for a good night out even though it's not cheap or as good as many people have remembered it. It was actually pretty okay coming for the first time. The menu has few options besides the salad and spaghetti for vegetarians.

The ribs were incredible - as were the twice baked potatoes. I think the skirt steak was a little underdone for my wife's liking but our son ended up loving it so overall our time was great. Our server was super attentive and kind and the atmosphere of Nite N' Gale was exactly what we were hoping for: chill, old-school steakhouse vibes.

Over 50 years we've been coming here. Great times! Great ribs and everything else!

The review may be a bit skewed since for me it's a fifty-year favorite of mine. Dad was bringing me here in the 70's and I've always ordered the ribs with the homemade bbq sauce. The only thing that's changed is they used to offer sourdough rolls on the table and have tried a few different breads since that. Please go back to the sourdough. Ribs are outstanding! So is the shrimp shrimp DeJonghe! And you can add anchovies to the side sale which offer all homemade dressings.

Great ribs and amazing service! Get a lot of bang for your buck here. Love how all of the entrees come with a soup or salad and a side! $30 for a full slab of ribs is a great deal.

    Grilled Calamari was excellent!

They are closing, so reviews are pretty meaningless. No gf options, but what I did have was delicious. Whitefish.

Most of the food was overcooked and dry - shrimp, ribs. Not what we remember. And oysters were served warm-ish not chilled.

Man, am I glad we got the flyer, because they have since become one of our local favorites! For the longest time, Lou Malnati's was our favorite Chicago style deep dish pizza, but Cansino's is now #1 in town for us. Their cheese blend is soooo creamy, stretchy, and delicious! It's apparently their own in-house blend of California cheeses, and it reminds us of the tasty Wisconsin brick that's popular in Detroit style (possibly a little creamier but less salty). Their tomato sauce is super savory, with a rich herb blend and not too sweet or tart - it's so satisfying! The crust is firm and delicious, and their sausage is leaner than Lou's while having a stronger fennel essence. We still love other Chicago style deep dish pizzas, but Cansino's will be the first on our list when we get a craving. We love onion rings in principle, but are a little particular about how we enjoy them. Cansino's onion rings are excellent - crispy seasoned breading and supple onion slices that are cooked juuuust right. Their fries are also really tasty, and we loved their fried mushrooms. I've tried two of their Mexican style tortas, which were also very good (I loved the fajita style veggies and beans, and the seasoned beef was pretty good). The steak and veggies were excellent, and their bread was pretty good. Next time, I REALLY wanna try their paninos. Their staff is super-friendly, giving us great suggestions of new things to try. The restaurant is always clean and well lit. Prices are fair for the neighborhood. Their preparation times are reasonable, and everything we've ordered was ready on time. There's plenty of parking right in front of the shop, and their front entrance is easily accessible. They're right across the street from the Fort Sheridan Metra Station, so I recommend trying them out if that's your stop. They also have some breakfast items, so it might be a good treat before your morning commute. We're definitely going to be trying more of Cansino's menu, and we'll be sure to add more photos and updates.

Cheese had a nice pull crust was ok my first time ordering from Pieros. I guess they are more known for deep dish. My thin crust was decent. Not sure if I'd order again. When we have Lou Malnatia deep dish around I'd prefer Lou's pizza to just about any other deep dish pieros sauce was ok but kinda bland as was the crust. And sausage they chop up the mushrooms but they were fresh not canned which was a plus. Having worked in many pizza restaurants I do prefer fresh vegetables and not canned mushrooms so that was a plus. Decent cheese and sausage was pretty good. And Fairly plentiful it looked good tasted ok. Overall a decent pizza. I just moved to the area. My cousin who lives close to here said the pizza was only ok and he was correct only ok. Worth a try I guess. Large thin 2 topping was around $35. So reasonable price for a decent thin pizza. Worth a try if you're hungry. Way better than than a chain id am say. 8/10 probably. So give Pieros a try you won't be disappointed. Enjoy folks.

It seems to be an excellent venue for parties of large gatherings. The decor is newer, clean and the rooms spacious. They were surprisingly busy on a weekday as hot as it was. I imagine at night it gets pretty busy with the beers they have on tap. It would make an excellent game hangout. Calamari was our appetizer a standard bar/restaurant version but decent nonetheless. I opted for a cooling Chicken Caeser Salad which was large and fresh and crisp and filling. My friend went with the Italian Beef with peppers, he said was as good as it was large and a side salad also appeared very fresh and crisp. When we asked for a spatula, the staff member rolled her eyes and dropped it off without a word. We later realized we hadn't ordered fries and placed that order separately, which seemed to frustrate the same staff member. She made comments about us in Spanish, assuming we wouldn't understand, and continued speaking negatively even while serving us. She also removed Parmesan and red pepper from the counter shortly after -- probably so we wouldn't use it. I understand everyone has long days, especially near closing, but this felt unprofessional and uncomfortable as customers. Hoping management can address this, because the initial service was great and the food was good.
