    Breakfast omelette with toast!
    Allison R.

Ate here for daily breakfast while we were staying at the Millenium Knickerbocker hotel off of the Magnificent Mile. Menu was simple but pretty delicious. Service varied - overall folks were friendly, but placing your order and getting the food took a little longer than I would have liked. Over the course of our stay we tried the smoked salmon eggs benedict, American breakfast, french toast, blueberry buttermilk pancakes, and the omelette. All of the above were delicious although the pancakes were a little thick. If you get the orange juice, it does taste fresh squeezed like Odwalla, so was pleased it wasn't your typical chalky minute maid stuff. Nice hotel-like decor but I'd allocate a solid 45-minutes for breakfast.

Caramel Brownie - warm and gooey, so delicious!

Food was good enough, but there was an issue with the charge...but first the food: I had the chicken pesto sandwich. The chicken was a bit dry and it needed more pesto flavor, but it wasn't a bad flavor combination overall. And the bun was toasted perfectly. The fries were only ok. Office Mom got the prime burger; she thought it was only ok, but the bacon strip I stole was great. Coworker got the crab salad; I tasted a piece of crab, it wasn't particularly flavorful, but at least it wasn't fishy. Dessert: The caramel brownie was awesome, probably my favorite part of the meal. The lemon tart was meh, and the tart Milano (can't remember the name) was death by chocolate and pretty dry - would not recommend. Then comes the billing portion of the meal. We had a cert, which they took off correctly (and thank goodness - it's got the typical higher hotel restaurant prices). When they went to charge the debit card, they put an extra $13 or so on there. Office Mom gets a text each time her card is used, so she was able to compare it to the bill. When she questioned them about it, first they tried to tell her the charge wasn't closed out yet - but uh, we're treasury folks, we know how the banks work and that's just incorrect... Then we were told the system went down and that they would credit her back the next day - which they did, eventually, but it was still a questionable incident. When all's been said and done, eat here if you can get a discount, but check your charges.

This lil' gem was located in the hotel we stayed at whilst in Chicago - Millennium's Knickbocker. We went down for breakfast twice while staying in the hotel, and it was just all around delicious, quaint, and perfect. Went for the eggs Benedict with salmon the first go around....yes...not vegetarian but fish is the only exception....technically that's pescatarian but anyways. It was simply amazing. Th 2nd dish consisted of an spinach omelet....there was another ingredient or two but they've escaped me at the moment. It was delicious but the salmon eggs Benedict was definitely the better choice of the two. Both dishes came with a side order of seasoned red potatoes - also amazing. Both of the waiters were super friendly and on the ball as far as keeping my java intake flowing. Service was great - food came out quickly. Overall, both visits consisted of a lovely breakfast experience. They are more on the $$ end as far as breakfast goes but definitely worth it.

It's also decorated with a gorgeous Christmas tree for the holidays. Very relaxed vibe and some TVs showing sports too. Lots of seating options. Luis has taken care of my table a few times and he's fantastic! He provides excellent service. I love the brownie. Bertha's brownie is a must try. Bertha Palmer actually invented the brownie in the late 19th century and they keep her signature recipe. It's so delicious!! Made with lots of butter. The cherry sauce with it is so good too. The drinks are delicious! During the holiday season, I enjoyed the Meet Me At Midnight, Cheer Spritz (mocktail), and the Vanilla Chai White Russian. All were amazing but wow, the chai White Russian was so good and beautifully presented. I love meeting friends for drinks here. On the regular menu, some of my favorites are Island Time, if you like rum, and Hot Pants if you like tequila.

We came for one reason--the famous Bertha's Brownie--and it definitely lived up to the hype. Rich, creamy, and wonderfully decadent, it's a must-try for any chocolate lover. The service was friendly and attentive, making for a pleasant visit. Even if you're only stopping in for dessert, it's worth taking a moment to admire the Palmer House's beautiful, ornate interior. The elegant architecture and historic charm make the experience feel extra special.

We got there around 8am on 06/18/26 and the place was kind of empty. We stood for awhile waiting to be seated. Finally a lady said she would take us to a table but that they were all dirty. We kind of looked at each other puzzled. She kept mentioning that they were dirty and weren't cleaned yet but seated us at a high top that hadn't been cleaned and tried to clean it herself. We wanted a window seat so we accepted it. It seemed fine after she cleaned it. It was just a strange way to bring us into the restaurant before the tables were cleaned. We could have stood by the door and waited some more. But the service and food were very good! Our server was Jose, who was excellent while checking on us several times to make sure everything was good. The vanilla latte that he recommended was delicious! I ordered the 3 Egg Ham 'n Cheese Omelet with mushrooms and my daughter had the Eggs Benedict. Both were cooked perfectly and seasoned correctly. Yummy! For dessert, we shared the delicious Cinnamon Roll Waffle, made perfectly, of course. We were surprised when we received our check, which was $92 for breakfast plus 20% tip. Anywhere else It would be around $65 but we were here on vacation. We were in Chicago for another 5 days but we did not come back here. There were many other breakfast places on the Riverfront that were equally good and much less expensive. My rating was 3.5 stars rounded up to 4 stars.
